Can any of you think about the last time you played an action game where the main character had a spear on his back?

This looks so fucking good. But does the time of day only change when you tell it to, or is it dynamic so that it goes through a cyclus?

These fucking sold me ! Game looks amazing from almost every standpoint. Gameplay looks really solid, side quests are getting a lot of attention and just exploring the open world of Egypt looks fun as hell ! Just what AC needed, and I trust the black flag team.

My only complain is that I'm not getting my Jesper Kyd soundtrack :( Sarah Schachner is quite good tho.

It is definitely the small things like this that can make or destroy a game.

Looting was such a chore in the previous titles, especially if the button prompt didn't properly trigger the correct animation.

Stealth looks dreadful, worse than Syndicate.
Everything else looks pretty good, if a bit janky.

I'm pretty skeptical though.

It seems the game lands between previous entries and Watch Dogs 2 as far as collectables are concerned: the map doesn't show chests, but when you're in an area, you're told how many there are. I'm okay with that. I was worried WD2's distance-based approach would return, which I wasn't much a fan of despite understanding why it was done (so players wouldn't feel compelled to spend hours clearing the map of icons and potentially bore themselves).

Love that lighting.

The nighttime is too lighty imho, I prefer what they did with MGSV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzJMnggRR0E
But it's not the same type of game exactly and you need to see things for parkour etc and make it cool enough for people to play it...I would have loved a "dark night" option though
Lighting was a pretty big focus of their engine overhaul this time. Reminds me a lot of the way MGSV's environments look during the viewpoint syncs. But yea I agree I was surprised by how bright the night time was.

If this reviews well enough, I can get over the hurdle of not being able to assassinate higher level dudes. Guess I'd just treat it as an action RPG.

The artworks are pretty neat. Shows you different outfits that, from I've read, will make it into the game, and of course beautiful locations. The demo's location looks really average compared to those.

It was pretty impressuve with Unity/Syndicate, but I guess they had to adapt it to a completely different environment than the big vertical cities with specific materials reflection?

Shame that the person talks over the videos. Would have preferred direct feed sound tbh.

The sky is quite bright, but the lighting is pretty spot on. There's a time when Bayek is on the shade of a cliff and everything is almost pitch black like this one.

Nah, it's not just the sky. The lighting in general is too bright in the night-time gameplay. I hope it'll be at least a little bit darker in the final game.

ACO has the potential to be best game in the entire series. I'm hyped for AC once again :p

Here's my ranking of the series so far:

1. IV
2. Brotherhood
3. Syndicate
4. III
5. Rogue
6. II
7. Unity
8. Revelations
9. Liberation

(never played original)

If Origins can make the top three I'll be more than satisfied and will be excited about the series once again. If it finishes behind II... back to meh.

Do we know if the franchise will return to annual releases after Origins or it's still up in the air?
Unconfirmed. It's up in the air since they now have an overhaul engine and mechanics so the sequel to origins will likely be a lot like Origins. This series always functions in soft trilogies when it comes to the gameplay.

I don't think we do, no. Though if the rumours about them creating a trilogy with Bayek (Egypt, Greece, Rome) are true, I could see them release those three titles on an annual schedule, then take a year off before introducing a new protagonist.

Honestly, unlike most people, I actually hope they do. It's my yearly blockbuster and I feel like there was more variation going on between games than a lot of people give them credit for. I've seen less evolution over the course of some series than from one game to the next with AC, even if the core of it has rarely changed over the years.

Yeah i guess this makes sense. Plus, the first rumor that popped up mentioned how they are considering sequels with the same character in Ancient Rome and Greece.

Gonna take a wild guess and say a new one is coming out next year. Also, i hope they go to Greece next because it could be a unique setting (although Ancient Rome sound more interesting).

I hope so too. I bought all AC games on day 1 (except Liberation) and i consider them all very good games.

New vid from the guy i posted above. Some nice commentary again.

Love the look of this world.

Nice little details also.

Jeez. The game world is going to be massive.

Not going to lie. I would love for them in the future to take another stab at The Crusades with all the new tech and updated mechanics they have now.

Having Rome as the final game's location would make the most sense seeing as during that period and with Egypt conquered, it was the power hub of the Old World. Placing the climax there seems fitting. (Maybe assassinating an emperor? Though Augustus didn't die until 14 AD by which time Bayek would've either been dead or like... in his 70s or 80s or sth. So probably not. Unless they switch protagonists even within the trilogy.)

Wow, I totally missed that detail where the game alerts you to whether or not an arrow shot will simply weaken, or kill, the enemy. This game is looking so damn good.

I dunno, I was stoked from the pre-E3 news but it did not look fun to play, the eagle may as well have been a drone, and I already feel like I've played it before.

Will wait for reviews and/or a sale.
