Spring Anime 2017 |OT| Don't be a SukaSuka for Gacha

I think I'm missing some context here.

I read a bit of the manga of this LN about two years ago.

You know how Re:Zero got mega popular in here and was praised as being a "deconstruction" even though you could make many arguments on how it was not that?

This is gonna be one of those shows but worse.

Yeah, no. It's just a dumb but entertaining edgy revenge isekai with an interesting twist in that the MCs 'weapon' is a shield. And Re:Zero is not a deconstruction of anything either. I hate this word.

And I also couldn't help but laugh at that super contrived clip?/image?. I braced myself for a "read the LN" ending because they hadn't explained basically any of the questions the story raised, so it wasn't surprising, but yeah, it sucks.
I feel like we're totally on the same wavelengths with both of these haha. Seriously, fuck Momo, Yuzu is almost too good for Momo.

Bastard:
I just wish Bastard Teacher was more consistent with it's tone and the presentation of the story. They spent the majority of the season with kidnapping and attempted murder plots for Rumia, but outside of her lineage, never explained why. Actually, they never really explained anything, but that didn't stop them from teasing it all with the last 4 minutes of the season..... uggh

Noise
This has been my surprise of the season. I didn't expect to enjoy the show as much as I have. I mean, it's very shoujo and very melodramatic at times, but at the same time it's grounded in it's ideals and as an nice emotional touch to it for each of the characters. Plus, I did the music, especially that awesome OP.

I'm hoping Alice finally opens her eyes and gives our boy Yuzu a look finally in the final episode and Alice does not continue her glorified pursuit to get Momo's attention..

you know for a show that loves to circlejerk over suffering I'm sure the obsession with Amelia and putting Rem on a pedestal is some 'the deepest lore' shit.

But Rem belongs on a pedestal for what she did. Her praise was earned, Amelia did nothing....

Soma S3 this fall

Hell yeah!

Fuck yes, give me that Third Plate and MOAR Miss Erina.

Fuck that trash Erina.

Gave up on finding anything good to binge from this season, so I decided to dig into my backlog and started watching Silver Spoon. What a delight this show is. It instantly sold me on the cast and the general vibe of the show. I read that the manga stopped for some reason, though? That's a bummer.

I just watched Silver Spoon recently and really enjoyed my time with it. I really hope the author can get back to writing more of the manga, so they can adapt a final season for the anime. My boy has to get his girl and his life together, ya know.

Uh, no. That's what I thought it was going to be but then the MC bought a loli slave and things started getting taken really seriously.

The entertainment part got taken out once all the heavy melodrama started.

I read the synopsis in Wikipedia and this motherfucker
collect slaves
like Pokemon what the fuck. I think I'll watch it for all the wrong reasons.

Edit: from what I'm getting is this also going to be about suffering?

Uh, that's what I thought I covered with the 'edgy revenge isekai' part.

Finished titans. It's okay. Felt a bit stretched out near the end, but they saved the best for last.

I'll probably pick up the manga where I left off (somewhere a bit further than S2).

trying to figure out where soma season 3 will end. more so trying to remember what soma did in between the end of season 2 and turning to garbage in the manga for like a year.

it's back to being fun again in the manga but good god
bitch face's redemption
arc is just horrid.

I imagine it will be another 12 episode season, but hey i will take it.

Raphtalia (ラフタリア?)
A Tanuki(racoon) Demi-human. Naofumi picked her up as a slave and pretty much raised her. Her real age is around 10 but she looks around 20 as Demi-humans age as they level up.

To be fair, from what I read (about four volumes?)
he doesn't mistreat the slave girl (he actually cares for her a great deal), and he had justified it first as a necessity seeing how no one else would party with him.

The part that makes me roll my eyes is how he got into that situation in the first place:

his entire suffering and edgelord attitude is all because a girl from another party lied about him raping her (since each chosen hero was essentially "competing" with each other, so she made up the clam so that her party would get a head start).

There is no inquiry, there is no investigation, not once does anyone ask the question "Is there proof?". She literally yells "rape" and everyone immediately shuns him through the entirety of the story.

It was already a stretch when previous "MC was framed" animes created flimsy, easily fabricated evidence to convict them. This series just plain didn't give a fuck.

Which is a shame because there are some neat things about it: it subverts the "this party member has a shitty non-offensive weapon" trope in some cool JRPG-referenced ways, including:

keeping a bunch of aggroing enemies with him at all times, since his DEF is so high that he can just chuck them at other people

I somehow lost all interest in Soma even though parts of S2 were still quite enjoyable. There was an OVA, right? I'll see if that is better than its trailer seemed to imply.

To this day I still wonder if Rydia from Final Fantasy IV aged up naturally, or experienced a physical growth spurt while still mentally being a ten year old.

Japan seems to think it's the latter (and so do I, which is why I've always NOPED the Rydia/Edward ship).

I dunno, I still find it pretty dry. It's incredibly formulaic until like 215 or whatever I last reviewed. Sure Shonen are naturally a bit heavy on formula, but I really am starting to feel Soma has just one formula: Standard Shokugeki.

I won't deny it's formulaic but it's at least way better then...

we are going to set the stage stupidly far against you and you have to overcome it because for some reason we aren't going to just expel you even though we can. Somehow it's better if we just rig the system to expel you instead of doing it outright.

doesn't help that it serves as
bitch face's redemption arc and the story in general would have been better if there was a kitchen accident and bitch face was removed from the series in general.

and no I am not saying
kill her in a kitchen accident, but like she loses her sense of smell and can no longer cook and thus has to go train with monks to regain her ability to cook to never return :p

The arc that Soma s3 will cover is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad it gets better eventually but eh maybe Soma wasnt super great to begin with aside from fun characters

The weird thing about Soma S3 is that we are just
getting to the part where the Elite 10 cooks in the manga.

thus why I am confused what the anime is covering lol.

unless for some reason they are going to go all in shonen style on soma and start moving at a naruto pace and do a 100+ episode run of soma.

Let's pretend there's any reason other than Rindou to watch Soma S3.

megumi is still best girl.
rindou is by far best
elite 10
though.

Could they just skip the crap that nobody would find interesting animated and move on to the good parts? Is it even worth adapting the "crap" parts; any redeeming parts?

not really.

they are bad, but some stuff of interest still happens.

that being said you could likely rework it into something better and something much faster without much issue.

but with in all the bad the current stuff going on in the manga was set up.

The arcs they might be covering is needed to setup up the good parts and we just got to the good parts.

You're forgetting
Soma vs Eizan and Soma vs Tsukasa
The former is going to happen for sure while the latter is in the last episodes or in a 2nd cour (if it goes that long)

Whelp. I hope they can commit to 24 or so episodes then and get everything caught up and in good order.

Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan already did it.

People said that about the tournament. How many bad arcs are there!?

the people who said that about the tournament weren't fans of soma then because that tourny arc is solid.

the main arc after that though... bleh.

stupid
worst girl
getting an arc.
