Is Dark Souls 1 worth playing after beating DS2 and DS3?

Also how is the difficulty of DS1 compared to 2 and 3? I played 2 first, I found it was brutal, that was partially because it was the first Soul game I have played. When I play DS3, I had my expectation, and I was able to beat it much faster. Is there a reason to go back to play DS1?

The first one has the best level design by far, feels and looks really good even now.

You will find the bosses way easier, but for the price it is now, it's well worth a look.

The answer is yes, OP. The original Dark Souls has, in my opinion, the best world of the three. It's an amazing journey.

I say yes, having only completed DS1 and DS2.

DS1 was so damn enjoyable.

As for the difficulty, I think you would find it not super challenging now that you have a few souls games under your belt. I found it hard at the start, because I had never played a souls game either, but by the end I was taking down most bosses by the third or fourth try.

Just play it on PC for DSFix

Absolutely.

Regarding the difficulty, I stand by the answer that the hardest Souls game is the first one you played.

Yes. Still my favorite 'Dark Souls' of the 3.

*make sure to play it on PC if you can help it. Going back to the frame rates on console is ROUGH. Game still looks gorgeous too with the Durante fix.

Yep, you'll still be challenged, see some great locales, fight memorable bosses, and play what is arguably the best entry in the entire series (I prefer Demon's Souls and Bloodborne a little more, but they all three are way up there).

It's also the Dark Souls that plays by the rules the best, by that I mean the enemies don't come in 6 at a time with what seems infinite stamina. They play with the same rules that you do.

Dark Souls 3 for me, the enemies are a bit to aggressive and are hard to stun, sometimes they seem to just keep attacking without their stamina depleting.

As someone who has beaten all three, Dark Souls 1 is the hardest for me to replay. It was my first souls game and I loved it, but I feel like it's aged the worst. I feel like most people will disagree though, and Dark Souls 3 has a lot of references that Dark Souls 1 will make more sense of, so if you're curious go for it.

if you enjoyed discovering new bosses and exploring the locations of the souls games you played then why wouldn't you want to play a souls game that you're yet to try? for you it'll be a fresh experience which I'm sure many here will now miss since the series is over.

So, I definately recommend going back to the first game :)

Definitely. Dark Souls is the best game in the series imo.

Some of the big differences:
- The world structure is different and more Metroidvania-ish compared to 2's separated paths and 3 being basically linear with one or two splits.
- There is no fast travel for a good portion of the game
- Encounter design is closer to original 2 than either SotFS or 3
- There are no alt. healing items, only Estus and magic, and the Estus implementation differs
- Magic is of the 2 variety (uses instead of magic bar)
- Equip load actually matters

Heck yes.

Good argument for it being best in the series. It's...presentation is lacking compared to BB and DS3 but its still an excellent game and has some of the best atmosphere in the series and some of its levels/zones are among the best in the entire series.

Yes, while the core gameplay might be a bit slower and it's graphics are less (than 3 anyways, 2 looks worse), it's leveldesign and boss designs are still fantastic. Furthermore, DS has some brilliant strokes of incredibly tight leveldesign that even Bloodborne could not match. Going from
Sens Fortress
to
Anor Londo
in DS1 is probably one of my favourite experiences in gaming and none of the other Souls games match that.

(spoilers are merely location names).

Yes.

I'm replaying it at the moment and it's so much better than 2 and 3

Best level design and I love the slower pace.

I've only played Dark Souls 3. It's my favorite game of all time.

I haven't played Dark Souls 1 because I heard the M+K controls are bad (I don't own a controller) and I'm worried it would feel really dated after playing DkS3.

I'm in the minority, but I didn't care for it at all. Picked it up back when it launched and dropped it fast. Many years later got into Bloodborne, loved it. Picked up Dark Souls 3 afterwards and loved it as well. Enjoyed 2, so I figured hey I should go back and try the first one again. Aaaaand still didn't like it at all. Obviously you should try it though, and I agree about all the references 3 has in regards to the first. I had to opt for reading about it in that case.

It feels different, the pace is slower as its more reactive, while Dark Souls 3 is pro-active in its combat. The M+K controls are pretty awful but I think there are mods etc that let you remap in a very intuitive way and adjust things to make it more pleasing but...it really was never designed with a M+K in mind, yet if you beat DS3 with it I'm sure you'd do the same for DS1 :p

Is it worth eating a t bone steak after eating a shitty burnt piece of meat and fried chicken?

Easy there. hehe
Yes it is worth it! The level design is really good! I think all the souls games are amazing! They all have a little something special and different that makes them worth playing.

It's the best one out of the Dark Souls trilogy imo. Just played it again recently.

My list of favorite souls games:
Bloodborne > Dark Souls > Dark Souls 3 > Demons Souls > Dark Souls 2

No, its best just watch a playthrough for lore. Game is really poor to controlled into comparison to all the other Souls games.
