I will, but its a book which I think is going away sooner then later and I like to read those when I have all trades.

Thanks. Another category that I can kill.

It has another arc coming up and they are renaming the book in the Legacy whatever thing. It's seemingly staying.

For real. They need to clean the line. Spider-Man with two books,Spider-Gwen, Miles-Man, thats enough.

Thanks. Looks like I can really clean up my database and move tons of categorizes to Old Ongoings/TPBs

I actually think the Legacy lineup is pretty diverse and "clean" when just looking at the titles. Of course there's all the other stuff that takes away from that. I glad there's no Guardian solos though.

I don't think any of us know that for sure.
That's true, but I don't think the comics are making any less money than they were in the past and now they have the MCU and Disney.

... man I've been so out of touch lately with stuff.

I've only read the Walking Dead recently (which was fantastic btw), the first two issues of Secret Empire and I finally completed my Ultimate Spider-Man collection. Got vol. 18 for cheap for just € 6. Yay me.

But, uh, Marvel fucked up? What did they do?

yeah, and i don't know how soon they can get any of them (hickman, brubaker, remender etc) back...kinda ties to their biggest problem: they're always gonna attract top talent with their characters, but outside of the biggest names (bendis, etc) they're forever terrible at cultivating/keeping them. Bru gave them cap material for movies & beyond, Hickman did more universe building than even the ultimate line saw, i'd argue.

The reason so many people jumped over to Image is because they can create the books they want, retain ownership of the property, and get paid more than they were at Marvel. Marvel has no excuse not to pay these people what they're worth, but a lot of creators, even big names, are still struggling financially, and there's no reason for it.

What was DCYou?

I don't read cave.

RiRis book is fantastic Btw.

DCYou was a blip on the radar. It might have been something but it was over before I even knew it was supposed to be a thing.

Don't read Cave, I like it and want it to not get cancelled. Keep the Messi curse away from it pls. :3

Marvel continue to have a lot of smaller books (Read, not the event books and high level books) that are most definitely worth reading despite how many times freeza claims they only have one good book.

The problem is the overall direction not the niche books or smaller titles.

This is true. And in that regard they've been floundering for a while. I think Secret Wars was an attempt to fix the problem by rebooting everything. All-new All-Different was brilliant in theory, but they ruined it by sliding right back into the status quo. I think they need to do something more drastic to generate interest and they won't do that by keeping things the same as they've always been.

Marvel should have explained what direction each book will be going in rather than going one by one in interviews like they will. They're trying to say that Legacy is going to be a change in the stories they tell, but aren't showing us how. For example, we know Tony is going to return, but they haven't mentioned that yet, or the changes to Peter that we already know about.

I don't really think they went right back to the status quo. Everything is still different with some things only now started to go back to something more traditional this year.

Think of how drastically different the ANAD teasers were when they were first announced. Not long after the books started, they shifted much closer to what they had been than what those teasers were implying.

Gwenpool looks awesome.

What about Ms. Marvel? That became sucky too?

Ms. Marvel is the same in terms of quality IMO.

I don't really

I can see it with some books, but I really wouldn't say they went back to the status quo. A ton of the characters have been replaced and/or have different roles in the universe.

Shiiiiiit Nightwing is so good. Not sure I'm feeling what they're doing with Blockbuster, but the arc as a whole is working for me. Also this is the first time we've seen
Shado since the end of the Yakuza arc of Green Arrow?
You know what Earth is a cube? Earth-29. Also, yeah. That's clearly the future Damian from #666.
Interesting. I wonder if those will play a part in the plot. Maybe we'll get
two Bizarros. One clone and one alternate earth
.

AND OH SO I MISSED THE TITANS ANNUAL.

SO THIS IS A NICE WAY TO GET HIT WITH A PLOT TWIST

FUCK

Speaking of Superman #25, I just read that myself. What a great issue. Felt like a good resolution to what's been building for 25 issues.
Jon and Kathy flying together omg
. It's a good, clean, exit point for me. I like the title, but not enough to buy it twice a month at full price (plus the ASD to CAD conversion tax). I'll catch up on future issues when there's a sale or price drop.

Fucking...okay. So I'll have to read the Titans Annual at some point soon, because fucking that's important.

So quick recap:
Donna is a magical construct now? Specifically to kill Wonder Woman? Fucking what? Dios mio.

So my parents are in the process of finally retiring and moving houses, so they are purging the basement. Apparently they found a pair of my old longboxes from when I was reading comics back in high school in the early 90s, and brought them with when they drove out to see my new baby this weekend. I've just started digging through them.

The four most common things by far are x-men books of various stripes (from Exaclibur to X-Factor to the core books), all of the original Valiant stuff (wow some of that art is *rough*), a bunch of Vertigo stuff, and a bunch the early Image stuff. But man, there is some fantastically random stuff in those boxes too. Sleepwalker! Ragman! Darkhawk! Damage Control (YES)! Adam Warlock and the Infinity Watch!I think I might need to re-read Sleepwalker, those covers look way more bugnuts than I remember at the time.

Also... foil. So much foil. And stamped/embossed. and die-cut nonsense. On the randomest books. Did Silver Sable & The Wild Pack deserve an embossed and foil-stamped cover? Really?

I also had to explain to them that these two longboxes of hundreds of comics was *totally* *worthless*. "You can sell them on Ebay for a ton of money probably!" "No, no I can't." "But look at all those #1s! Look at all those shiny covers!" "Trust me, mom, they're not worth anything."

So now i'm going to go through them and find the more kid-friendly ones and give them to my sister, who has 3 boys aged 5 4 and 2 who are *just* getting into superheroes now.

It's a merger of
her most recent origins from before and in the New 52.

To quote wikipedia:
Later, the Teen Titans Annual (2017) reconciles the two accounts of Donna's history – recent magical creation or longtime ally of Wonder Woman – revealing that Donna was, as in the New 52 story, created out of clay to destroy Wonder Woman, but the Amazons later gave her false memories of being an orphan rescued by Wonder Woman. This allowed Donna to be more than a living weapon, and to establish a stable life. Though Donna was heartbroken by the revelation, she was supported by her Titans colleagues, who affirmed their friendship.

Blockbuster is obviously using both Grayson and Tiger Shark, so he can became the leader of Bludhaven's underworld.
Oh yeah, definitely. I'm just so used to this already towering and imposing version. Seeing him come from the bottom is weird.

Ah. Well then. Still need to read it. Upset that I missed it when it dropped.

Do Y'all think that the DCEU can be DC Rebirthed in order to lighten up? Or to get it in tune with the Wonder Woman movie? If so, how would Y'all go about it?

Use Wonder Woman and Harley as pillars with batman and superman. Go from there. Not everything has to be happy go lucky. They need to find a balance.

I never said to make it happy go lucky, just lighten up the tone. Do Y'all think that bringing in the fifth-dimensional imps (Batmite or Mister Mxyzptlk) to do that would be too much?

Not really needed, tbh. They were talking about how BvS was always going to be the darkest part of the MoS->BvS->JL "trilogy" before it even released. As long as they execute on the character arcs they've set up (Batman regains his hope for humanity, Wonder Woman fights for Man's World again, etc.) they really don't need to make any extra renovations.

I don't think the general public would be into it at all honestly.

I don't think these would work in the DCEU.
They can try.

Oh okay.

I just want to see the appearance of the fifth-dimensional imps on the big screen.

So Harley, Wonder Woman and?

I honestly think people will bail on any reboot.

Maybe Aquaman? But is DC Rebirth a reboot? It's just getting rid of what didn't work with the New 52 and keeping what worked while bringing back things from pre-flashpoint.

Movies don't work like comics though. We are much more willing to put up with bullshit in our comics.
