What's your preference: console gaming, pc gaming or mobile gaming?

PC has been my main focus for the last 7 years or so but I find myself drifting more and more towards console gaming these days, namely PS4. My Steam wishlist is full of games I can get on PS4, and I really enjoy the Sony exclusives this generation (Bloodborne and Horizon especially). 60 FPS on multiplats is hard to give up, though.

For me it's all PC gaming in 2017.

Maybe I'll grab a Switch sometimes in 2018, and the eventual Sony exclusive From Software game on PS4. Nonetheless, PC stays the main platform.

PC all the way, for convenience mostly, but also:

I have limited play time. I prefer to spend that time actually playing games, not being stuck behind load screens.

I'm a software developer. I need a decent PC, so it's convenient to have a device that does both gaming and software development in one. It's also easier to sell what is an expensive hobby to the wife. I'm spending $500 on a PC, not a "toy" in her mind.

I share the living room space and TV especially. If I was doing my gaming on my Xbone on my TV, I wouldn't be doing much gaming. I get more PC time than I do TV time.

Almost all exclusives I enjoy are PC exclusives.

60 FPS on all games.

21:9 ultra wide is amazeballs, as is GSYNC.

I'm a console gamer, but I am really enjoying my Switch and use it undocked way more than I thought. Fingers crossed this thing gets tons of games I'm gonna enjoy or be interested in.

Mostly console and handheld, with more of an emphasis on handhelds. Being in the military, I'm usually away from my TV, so handhelds were a godsend. Having my PSP/DS with me in Iraq back in 08 and my Vita/3DS with me in Afghanistan in 2012 were great.

What PC games I do play tend to be older titles. My PC library consists of Morrowind, Oblivion, Fable, Prince of Persia 08, Fable, Warcraft II/III, Age of Empires, etc).

I'm mainly a Nintendo and Playstation gamer, as I've owned every system Nintendo and Sony has released.

100% PC.
Bought a few PS4 exclusives like Bloodborne, Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank, but everything else I use my PC for.
Or my GPD Win for mobile gaming.

Handheld.

I just play way more on portable than console as I can play them anywhere. Also they are usully quick and easy to boot up (which is one huge factor the Switch has over the 3DS and WiiU that people seem to not aware). If a game, especially portable Ines, takes 3-5 minutes to boot up I lose interest.

Gaming on a 17 laptop monitor minimum. I play computer games only on computer monitors that have better colors, resolution and text than HDTVs.

Couch is for resting and sleeping, not playing games.

My eyes are not suited for portable consoles anymore.

PC > Handheld/Mobile > Console

PC is just superior to console in every way to me, i just don't see the purpose of their existence anymore. I'm actually annoyed when i need to spend money on those for 2/3 games and then forget about it's existence.
Handheld/Mobile i list them as the same now, they offer games (be it pick and play or actual games) on the go to kill time fast or wherever i want in my house, which ultimately fills a niche pc and home consoles outside of the switch (that i consider a handheld anyway) simply don't provide me. I like them.

Console generally. Some PC, but even then I just play console games on PC.

This generation has been a bit more difficult. Not a lot of console games that I've been interested in. Lots of multiplayer games, and lots of open world games. Some really good games, just not a lot of good games.

I was trying to think of good first person, or even third person, shooters that I've played this year. I only came up with one - Resident Evil 7. Last generation I couldn't get through a month without seeing a new shooter.

Thank god for backwards compatibility and remasters or I wouldn't have shit to play this generation.

Mobile > Switch > PS4 > PC

I don't have much time for gaming these days so Hearthstone, Clash Royale, Fire Emblem Heroes and mobile indies are carrying me right now.

I'm currently looking into mobile PC gaming solutions (moonlight via iOS and GPD Win).

Whatever Switch is. I can play it when I want and it's still very capable. Everything else is starting to feel like a hassle and increasingly I can't find the time to sit down with a stationary device.

PC is by far my preferred way to play games. I went from Nier Automata on ps4 to pc and it was just much more enjoyable on pc with smooth framerates and better IQ.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
Console gaming.

Soon to be split with PC gaming.

Mobile gaming, I only do when I cant get on the consoles (kids) or I dont wanna watch anything on TV.

Reading this know, I wish I had a Switch... Or another Vita. Need to replace one that get wet. Hell, might can get 2 Vitas for the price of 1 Switch. Might help free up the consoles...

For years I much preferred handheld gaming, but now it's mostly console. I love playing Super Mario 3, Super Mario World, or other great platformers on the 3DS or GBA SP, but then I started to really want to play those games on a big tv, where you can really appreciate the bright, colourful graphics, etc.

Plus, I like playing big adventure games (Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, etc), and I find these games are much better suited for a big screen.

Also, I have kids now, so console gaming is much better for us to play together on the couch.

I also find I don't have the attention span when playing on a portable. If I'm playing a portable in the living room on the couch with my wife beside me and the tv on, I will tend not to play as long. Whereas, if I go to the basement, I will get more immersed in the game and play for a couple of hours. That is the downside of consoles for me though, I'm regulated to the basement.

PC gaming for singleplayer games or games that aren't on console. Xbox for multiplayer games with my friends, and I have a PS4 for the exclusives.

I pretty much play everything on PC if it has been released there. I have a PS4 as well to pick up the slack for whatever games don't go to PC (Horizon, Yakuza, Persona), as well a Switch for Nintendo games.

I am actually happy for the Switch, but probably for the exact opposite reason that most people are. I almost never touch my handhelds except for vacation, since I drive during my commute and am doing other things if I am out. Being able to easily hook them up to my TV through the dock I think will help get me to play a lot more of the games that I used to unfortunately not play in the past.

I pretty much play all the games I get on PC and have done so for years. I have a Switch for Nintendo games and select third-party games I'd prefer to play on the go, but that's it.

My preference is PC mainly to take advantage of game sales and the extra performance over consoles. I still game on consoles for exclusives and to rent games I'm not sure about buying.

Console for sure. I like the idea of PC gaming, but I like the idea of having dedicated console boxes that fit nicely into my entertainment center more. My wife would also never buy into the idea of using a PC on our living room TV over something with a more TV-friendly interface.

Mobile/handheld is a close second as I'll often play games on my phone/Switch while we watch TV shows. Basically everything but PC.

Consoles are where I play the vast majority of my retro and current gen stuff. I used to use my PC at least as much but it's just too old now for most things I want to play and I don't have the money to upgrade. Fundamentally, I still enjoy the sofa/box under the TV method of gaming. Which I know is doable with a PC (and I use my laptop for emulation and hook that up to the TV just fine) but a console is just easier for me in that sense.

Mobile game a fair bit but less than I used to, just as I commute on the Tube system which only has wifi at station stops and most of the games I want to play require a fairly consistent internet connection.

I have a gaming PC, PS4 Pro and Switch.

Preference is still console I guess, especially PS4. None of the occasional headaches I get on PC and I like being able to buy physical games with GCU/Prime discount and sell after beating.

I've used the portable mode with Switch a bit more than I though (as I'd sold my 3DS and Vita a year or two back from non-use), but still mostly use it docked. I just prefer the big screen experience.

Portable is my preferred but outside of streaming, the hardware just isnt there yet for me.
PC is my main right now
I used to primarily game on console.

So many posts about PC, it's hard to believe we're on NeoGAF. I thought this thread would lean heavily towards console. On the other hand mobile is exactly where I thought it would be.

PS4, but for the last 4-5 months I've actually had barely any time to play. I look at this forum and gaming sites more than I play games.

Console>Handheld>PC>Mobile

Consoles are where the majority of my gaming is done, plus I still have my last gen consoles hooked up as I finish up PS3 and 360 stuff; also, for a change of pace I could always pull out my PS2, Dreamcast, Super Famicom, or Saturn.

Handhelds are almost as important as consoles for me and have increased in importance more so as I can play things like Monster Hunter and other Japanese developed games that either don't come to consoles or only stay in Japan. When I get Dragon Quest XI in a few weeks handheld gaming may take the #1 spot for a bit.

PC and me have an interesting history. when I tend to get or build a computer I stick with what I have for a long time. I've been PC gaming since the early 90s (and big into emulators since the late 90s) and while it's rarely been #1 with me it's usually a staple of my gaming diet, so to speak. Because I stick with the same hardware (sometime for up to 6 or 7 years with minor changes) it means that while I get to play the best and latest for awhile at max settings, eventually I'm stuck playing only old stuff, or indie-type titles. My main PC completely crapped out on me in January, so I've been only able to play what I can run on with my crappy (by gaming standards, it IS a 4th gen i7) laptop's integrated graphics.

Mobile gaming....eh, when I got a ipad I was kind of into messing with stuff on it. I even bought a controller. Eventually I got a modern smartphone that could run emulators and stuff, but in general mobile gaming has been lame. I've noticed that as a hobby we've become less defensive about mobile gaming, but I still haven't seen much that could compete with a handheld or console experience.

I prefer console. It's the easiest to connect to my TV and the quickest to start up a game. Plus that's how I grew up playing games so it just feels right to me. Handheld gaming is great too, but it tends to often feel like I'm playing a compromised version of a game I could play on console.

PC for everything but exclusives.

Yeah.
Only a really bad port can convince me to buy for console over PC.

I've never really had much interest in in handheld gaming, the only games that usually interest me are indies that I can already play on PC.

So many posts about PC, it's hard to believe we're on NeoGAF. I thought this thread would lean heavily towards console. On the other hand mobile is exactly where I thought it would be.

In my experience NeoGAF's reputation as leaning more towards consoles is only because every other enthusiast site is even more PC dominated then this thread.

Really depends on the game.

I play most single player games on console, but PC is great for multiplayer. And I love gacha on the mobilez.

I don't thin I ever actually use my phone/tablet for playing games. Not hostile to it, they just don't register as game devices to me

PC = Console > Mobile

As I've gotten older I've started to hate mobile gaming. If I'm out of my house then I'm busy and won't be able to play them and even if I do have time I'm on my couch looking at a small screen while my TV is off.
Only the Switch has fixed this for me, the screen is big enough to not feel horrible and I can switch to the TV when I want.

Console only, it's how I was raised!

I'm imagining getting punished for even looking at a Game Boy.

I have a PC, Switch, PS4, Vita and N3DSXL.

I play most of games on my PC for the best performance, but sometimes for other reasons I might pick up multipatts on other devices, but it's usually always exclusives.

Increasingly PC (I also have a PS4 and Wii U).

If consoles were better about backwards compatibility, were friendlier to independent and outsider developers, had free and reliable networks, and were open platforms, I would choose consoles. These issues have become increasingly important to me over the past decade, and consoles show no signs of shifting course.

My only issue with mobile gaming is that I don't have a smartphone, so I spend more time sitting in front of a computer screen than holding a mobile device.

PC for everything except Sony and Nintendo exclusives.

At the moment my time is divided PC 80%, Switch 20%. Pro hasn't been turned on for weeks sadly.
