War for the Planet of the Apes - Review thread. (RT= 96%)

Oh man this is really becoming one of the best trilogies out there! The second one was amazing and even if I had hope for this, I was expecting a more of the same. It seems like it will deliver!

It's insane and awesome that these movies ended up being great.

I remember the reactions to the trailers of the first one was pretty negative because of what seemed like James Franco cheesing it up.

I think I fell asleep during the second one (no the fault of the movie), I should re-watch it.

In all fairness, James Franco was definitely miscast in that film.

Loved the first. Loved the second even more. I'm hyped as hell for this one. So glad this franchise is stronger than ever!

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
I better rewatch the second movie. I'm glad Warner Bros was able to snag Matt Reeves for The Batman.

Caesar, a CGI talking money, has one of the best character arcs across a trilogy. It's really something.

It just goes to show how much that Andy Serkis deserves some sort of special achievement Oscar. His work in mo-cap is unreal, unprecedented, and he continues to push the craft forward.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Probably the most surprising, and now consistent, movie series in the last decade. Really glad to see the third one is finishing the trilogy out strong. Could we see more movies beyond this one? It seems its still going strong and makes some cash at the box office.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Amazing. This is the only movie I'm seeing in theaters this summer.

Looking forward to this.
Rise was surprisingly good and Dawn is possibly the best Hollywood blockbuster in recent years not named Mad Max Fury Road. It really is amazing how this series managed to come back from the dead after the atrocious Burton remake.

I keep telling people Dunkirk is going to have a difficult time in July domestically due to strong releases like War for the Planet of the Apes, and Spider Man.

He really does.

Ordinary you'd think they would anchor these movies on human characters. But the technology and performance are so good you're emphasizing with the apes.

If he does get this award it should be for him and the team that brought Caesar to life.

James Franco was great in Rise

Franco was the GOAT in the first one.

Idk, his performance was fine. But he's still James Franco which is hard to get past in a serious role.

James Franco was okay...he wasn't too bad in the film...but I think there are many other actors who could have done a better job with that character (perhaps one with more innately dramatic sensibilities than Franco). Anton Yelchin, for example. I get that basically comes down to personal subjectivity...Franco just generally doesn't work for me as a dramatic actor.
