If you got an NES Classic, did you end up playing it much? Are you still playing it?

Ok, I know, most here were unable to get one most likely, since supply was obscenely limited.

I went to WM the morning it came out, at 6 AM, and managed to get a manager to sell me one despite a bit of confusion. Came home and crashed but when we dug into it later we played it quite a bit for a month or two. We tried out games like Bubble Bobble and played the full way through SMB1-3 (using some save states, I'm not too proud to admit).

So, if you did get an NES Classic, did you end up playing it much? Or was it more of a conversation piece? If you played, was it your first time playing any of these?

I still want to play the first two Zeldas. Especially Zelda II given the complaints I've heard about how obtuse burning various bushes can be in OG Zelda.

I'm interested in how people set theirs up by their TV, or in a display case, or as a neat desk paperweight, as well, so feel free to share pics.

Barely played it since launch.

Yesterday I suddenly thought to boot it up and had great fun playing through Kirby and Metroid. It got me dreaming about the potential SNES Classic Mini.

Needless to say, a certain piece of news made my day.

I played through SMB1,3, Zelda 1, some of FF1, some of Zelda2, all of Kirby, a ton of Donkey Kong, and Mega Man 2 a few speed runs.

It's still unboxed.

Doesn't unboxed mean that it was opened? Like.. an unboxing video?

Anyways, answers to the questions are yes and nope. A fun novelty item to have and show to people that come over, play for a bit, but I'm not playing it currently.

Bought it on the last day Best Buy had them (during the final restock, lined up at 4 AM). Opened it, hooked it up, played a bit, unhooked it, put it in a storage shelf on my media stand.

Oops. You're right lol. Fixed it.

Hasn't been played once. Mainly bought it as a collectible. My place is too small to properly display it but hopefully soon we get a bigger place where I can make a game room with all my retro consoles hooked up.

Mine is still sealed on my kitchen table. I was waiting to see if value would keep creeping up so I could use it to pay off a credit card. But it's hovered at about $150 so I just held onto it. I don't have any time to play it right now so it just hangs out on my kitchen table waiting to be opened.

I beat Zelda and Zelda II. I got near the end of Ghosts n' Goblins before getting stuck. I've played it with friends and family a few times. I'll go back to it to finish some other games pretty soon.

Played it off and on, actually have played more SNES/SFC games on it.

It's great having a retro system that looks decent on a HDTV since I don't have a framemeister.

These things are also a whoooooole lot cleaner-looking and more convenient to have setup in your living room than a wii/controllers/senseor bar/power brick for a Wii with Virtual Console

No I don't play it. But I'm the wrong person to ask. I still have NES and Famicom OG, a million games for both, and a flashcart.

Turned it on, put it back in the box and it now remains in the box. Great little system and glad I have it. But I'll never actually play it.

It's in one of those traveling bags that sold along with it. I can hook it up to hotel TVs. :)

Famicom is still sealed

Played it for about 20 mins then boxed up and put in my game cabinet, sold yesterday for $200 (for street fighter zero 3 on Saturn)

Yep. Same as me-- except for MD/Genesis and PCE/Turbo.

Hopefully with the bigger rom sizes of SNES, we will see easier emulation of turbo CD games.

Damn, you guys. If you're not gonna use it just give it to me.

So that I also leave in boxed in a closet for eternity.

Man as someone who never owned a NES and wanted this to experience those games for the first time, some of the replies in here make me so sad :(

While I kinda slowed down a little after the initial release hype, I would say I was still using it regularly until the Switch came out. It still gets a little play here or there, which I would say more than makes it worth the trouble.

Played it a bit. Super fun to take to hotels.

Ended up buying an Analogue NT mini instead for my home TV.

Still need to fiddle more with Retroarch on it.

I always dabble in retrogaming, so it gets use. Not as much lately as the NT mini though (my daughter has been trying to beat Mario 1, she is used to modern easy games...she played like a thousand hours of Mario 3D world but Mario 1 and 3 are much tougher for her.

I played the games that I had nostalgia for. All the Super Marios, Super C, and Galaga. I beat the 3 Super Mario games, some for the first time.

All the other games were too archaic and I simply didn't have neither the nostalgia nor the patience to play let alone finish them.

Yes, I played it a lot and I'm still playing it.
Finished Kirby's Adventure last night and my plan now is to finish some more of the smaller games before cracking open Startropics.
Insane value for the amount of time I've put in to it.

I bought two (or actually three through luck, sold the third to cover the extra price I paid for the first).

One unit is by the TV and doesn't get much use except when friends are over.

Second unit is a "travel" unit and really handy for trips, hotels, etc. - as compact as a handheld but with simple TV hookups, and at social gatherings people recognize the games and enjoy playing them.

Hoping to get more than one SNES Mini unit for the same reasons.

Not recently, but I played it a decent amount with my nephew (he's 8 and it was his first time playing most of the games). I have since put it back in its box so that it's kept in good condition. It's easy to set up whenever I feel like playing again, though.

Pre-ordered on a few months back when Best Buy had their scheduled restock, ended up cancelling the pre-order minutes later when I realized I didn't need it.

Ended up being a inexpensive secondhand AVS instead.

Had some good fun with it, tho I already played through most of the bigger singleplayer games not too long ago. Finally started up Star Tropics and played a bit of Final Fantasy 1.

Then I installed hakchi and I've been enjoying a lot of other RPGs on it too. Final Fantasy 1 GBA is a much better experience

I grew up with the NES so I had to have this and I finally got one in about the last batch available.
I hardly touch it. The controls blow for nearly every game imo. I dealt with it as a teenager but now I don't have time that shit.
I'll keep it just to play it in another 10 years for 30 minutes.

Emulator is just so much more convenient and you can choose what controller what filtering what speed and turbo buttons or speed and what shaders and so many more options

I don´t play it as much as i did after launch, but i beat all Marios, Castlevania, Metroid, Zelda, Ninja Gaiden (if you call saving after every jump "beating ;)), Kirby, Mega Man 2 and Super C.
So i would say i realy played it a lot. Definatly not a display-piece.

Never owned an NES and it was my first time playing most of those games (except Mario).

I have two and both I and the kids play on them.

They're both hacked, one has all the best NES games on it and the other has the best SNES games on. The SNES version has an official Wii SNES controller plugged into it. I will get a couple of SNES Classics and hopefully, I'll be able to retire the fake SNES version and have the same NES catalogue on both NES minis and do the same with SNES games on the SNES minis.

Still boxed. The graphics are too shitty for me to play now.

the games look great in modern TVs,

unless you mean NES games in general look like ass by today standards. In that case I disagree, Mega Man 2 is timeless, plenty of good looking games there.

so far I've played through Castlevania 1, Mega Man 2 and Zelda 2.

Waiting for the right moment to play through Final Fantasy 1 and Mario Bros 2.

I love that little thing is so convenient.
