These people want to make an example of her that states, "the opinions of women we do not approve of mean nothing and they should be excized from this community". And that's not how this shit works. Hopefully it never will be, but we're running a little short on hope lately...just...all around.

Joe at least tried to get him off it. Looking at comment threads about the episode on r/JoeRogan/ they were mostly negative and even on r/KotakuInAction/ which is like maximum reactionary they say they agree with many of his positions but not the way he goes about it being obsessed with Anita. The guy is articulate but poorly informed, argues against stupid caricatures and crazy outliers, not the arguments people are actually making.
I myself don't agree with some ideas Anita has about media effects but she's making arguments in good faith. Just because your political orientation causes you to have different foundational assumptions doesn't make her arguments bad because many of these issues are open questions.
I stopped listening to the episode when Sargon started talking about equality of opportunity vs equality of outcome and how that separates liberals and progressives. Political philosophy is not that simple. A cursory reading of the first chapter of Amartya Sen's Inequality Reexamined would set him straight.

One of the most facinating thing that came out of the GG stuff and moved into the Trump election was people using internet lingo for very real harassment terms, beause in their mind, that takes power away from the action that they're doing. It makes it okay in their eyes because it's suddenly "for the lulz and why are you so serious brah?"
