I feel like kids born today won't really know who Bin Laden is, and by the time he is an adult no one will care.
when the full name is said allowed
Is this a meme? Because this is a really laughable thing to think. What the hell kind of school would these kids be going to where they're not taught about 9/11?
You know Lada is actually a brand of really shitty cars?
This is certainly not feasible (and would be strange IMO, since she took my last name).Just use your SO's last name instead, how is this not obvious?
Wait.I mean, people don't know about the Oklahoma City bombing, or the Atlanta Olympic bombing, or that this wasn't the first time a plane was flown into the World Trade Center.
People are ignorant.
Wait.
A plane hit the WTC before 9/11? I had heard about the other events you mentioned. I even know about the bomb that went off at the WTC in the 90s. But a plane flying into those buildings was not unprecedented in 2001?
Brb, googling

Nah, E64 must just mean the 93 bomb incident.
Maybe dude meant the Empire State Building? I believe a small plane smashed into it waaaaay back when.
Why would it not be feasible? Genuinely curious, not getting what the issue is.
Also, it's still early days if he's your first child... why not take her last name as well if consistency is a problem?
Luke
Jacob
Matthew
All great names 👍
I mean its technically feasible, but not something I'd/we'd like to do.
Again, just curious, but why is she agaisnt it? Is this one of those public perception things?
I know Poland isn't exactly the most socially progressive country out there but such patriarchal traditions really have no logic to them, it's just indoctrinated bigotry, there really should be no room for that kind of behaviour still being adhered to out of some misguided sense of pride.
Or is her name just straight up fugliness incarnate?
No, nothing like that. a) I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of us both changing our names and b) I like our last name enough that I'd like to keep it (I certainly like it more than I like Ben).
Tell me this isn't real...
A lifetime of explaining how his parents named him BenjaminThat is a name that would get both your kid and his parents on some crazy persons list. I cannot imagine why anyone would do this to a kid, or condemn themselves to a lifetime of explaining to people how he got that name.
Can't be worse than this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Assman
"bin Laden" isn't even the name, isn't it? "bin" is like the German "von" or something.
Anyway, are you brown? It'll probably be easier to get away with if not.
as real as a terrorist fist bumpTell me this isn't real...

People will likely make dumb jokes about the name sounding somewhat similar, but that shouldn't deter you from naming your child what you want.
... Are people really saying kids from 10-15 years from now won't make the reference? It's kind of insulting that people think that little of kids and teenagers nowadays.
Truth is though, you should never post your kid's name on gaf. When he googles his name in 15 years, this thread will show up. It's why I think Gaf admins should do a str replace for Kale Breckin and replace it with "John Smith," because in 15 years that kid is going to search his name and find the thread(s) about his naming, and then his parents having ... problems.
Is it Osama Bin Laden?I have a secret. My first name is a secret among my friends. And I kept it from my fiancee on our first year dating...

Bin Laden will have been dead for like 17 years when your kid is 10, which is the age kids might start making fun of his name...So I think you're safe. Sure they'll learn about 9/11 probably, but I doubt it will be a big deal.
