Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 |OT| Just in Time for Super

So I just came back to this after having not played in quite some time.

Wow, the changes to the battle system are fucking appalling.
It seems that Ultimate attacks are now utterly useless/pointless as the AI can just immediately dodge and teleport in behind you, whilst invincibility frames seem to have been removed so the AI can just smack you mid-attack and knock you out of it. Oh, and also you lose all of your stamina no matter how much you had.

Who the hell was asking for this and thought it would be a good idea?

Have to say, I really preferred the combat in the first game to the second one.

They're only pointless if you don't stamina break your opponent (make them lose all of their stamina, ie. what you're complaining about). This makes sense since ultimates have big wind-ups: why would an opponent just stand there and let you hit them? The goal in the game now is to wear your opponent down with regular attacks and supers until one of you runs out of stamina which opens them up for a finishing ultimate attack. You can also attempt to time the ultimate attack for when the AI is distracted fighting someone else. Overall, I find this dynamic to be much more interesting than just spamming ultimates whenever with impunity.

Also you can do the exact same thing to the AI when you see them charge a random ultimate.

If it's an ult that doesn't stun just heavy attack and boom, no ult and stamina broken. If it's an ult with stun just use the homing dash to attack them from behind and same result.

If all you did in XV was spam ultimates until the AI died, then yeah you're in for a world of hurt in XV2, it actually takes a tiny bit of effort now to land one.
Love these kneejerk reactions, saying it's all useless and pointless now, instead of taking a minute to just learn the new system.

I want to enjoy this game, but it's just so easy so far. I'm at the beginning of the namek saga and every fight is a breeze, my fighter barely loses any helth. Does the game gets any harder later?

The most fun fight I've had so far was against Vegeta and Nappa as great apes, as it was a bit challenging.

All I did was train with instructors, I didn't even complete any parallel quest.

I'm considering just stop the leveling of my character and see if the game ends up more fun that way. I've read the game post contet is hard, but I'm only interested in completing the story mode.

The difficulty curve kicks up with a certain fight on Namek.

Does it ever get to the "shit, I gotta level up and get new moves" point?

Not really. I had to do PQs on the original too progress through the story, but I breezed through this one. There was a fight during the Frieza saga that was tough, as well as the mission to get the Majin Purification ability, but that was it.

It didn't help that I played the game over New Year, when they had a double XP event on.

It does. But if you continue to level up by doing other stuff besides the story it shouldn't get extremely difficult. The AI does get better, though, for certain fights in the story mode where being overleveled somewhat may help.

The game is never really about new moves making you better, it's why they changed the battle system to what it is.
As long as you understand the battle system, all you need is really just leveling up so you don't die in one hit or barely do any damage on the later PQs.
In fact the best "moves" require you to optimally use the battle system.

The fight on namek with freeza is the game's wakeup call, if you didn't "properly" play the game at that point, you're going to get destroyed.

Beat Freeza. It wasn't too hard, but it was at least a decent challenge.

I have 24 points to spend, I think I won't spend it. Now to unlock SS transformation!

On the fence about buying this so if anyone can answer the following questions i would apreciate :

1 - how is the OST? does it have the original japonese DBZ OST?

2 - There is a level system if so if i start as a saiyan i will have to level up to get to be able to go super saiyan right? it wont be available to go super saiyan of the bat right?

3 - how far can u go as a saiyan ? (not up to date on DB Super , just finished the zasamu arc so can u go Super saiyan rose?

4 - how is the game play? never been a fan of the tenkaichi games because the combat was very repetitive and all over the place , in this case i loved the budokai more street fighter game play.

1. I'm not sure, I'm not familiar with the Japanese OST.

2. Yes. There are 95 levels now (will be 100 with DLC 4). You need to be level 40 before you can unlock Super Saiyan.

3. You get the base Super Saiyan line at level 40 and far you go depends on your ki. Low ki you'll be SSJ1, medium ki SSJ2, high ki SSJ3. This form is focused on melee super boosting. You can also get what's called Super Vegeta, which is just Vegeta's SSJ1 and SSJ2 that gives a boost for ki blast supers instead of melee. You can also unlock a special SSJ form in the story. You can't go SSJG, SSJB, or either SSJR. You can unlock Potential Unleashed (what Old Kai gave Gohan).

4. The combat is on a three dimensional plane, I'm not sure how it compares to any of them since the last one I played was Ultimate Battle 22.

Question, my brothers keeps spamming the block button whenever I get close and quite often gets a perfect block that stuns and decreases my stamina. Any tips how to counter/ play against this cheap f*cker?

Actually really loving the zamasu + mai clothes look, didn't think I'd ever call my majin "badass"

what are the chances for local versus improvements for this game (custom timer settings, rounds, more stages, option to go to the 2P versus straight from the main menu)? Like 0% I guess?

:(

Bojack lol?

Not complaining, just seems out of context.

It follows the movie character theme the game is going in. Would have liked them to be all in with it and put in Super 13, Garlic Jr, Dr Wheelo & Hirudegarn. Add Janemba's 1st form as a giant form while they're at it.

Did they ever add the option to skip the main story with a second character like they mentioned they would?

Unfortunately, no. To be frank, all we ever got was Bamco EU saying they heard us about that; no idea if Dimps ever received feedback for it in order to issue a patch to change it. Regardless, at this point, it's probably not happening. What a terrible decision it was, though.

Played the shit out of Xenoverse 1, but always thought it was a bit grindy and rng, how is 2 compared to 1? The same amount of RNG or is it a bit better?

They still haven't said whether the Switch version has the DLC have they?

No and they probably won't until DLC Pack 4 is out and it probably won't be stated such until even some time after that. It would be incredibly bad PR/marketing for them to announce "hey everybody, Switch version includes all the DLC! $60 for all the content!" when all the people on PS4/Xbox One/PC paid an additional $30 for the DLC for their versions.

Looks like ssj rage trunks is not a thing in DLC4, just the spirit bomb sword

Them showing a screenshot of the spirit sword and not rage trunks doesn't confirm the latter isn't in the DLC. Future Trunks gets a new preset, they wouldn't just give him a new preset for just one ultimate change and then not only that but Bamco wouldn't have been teasing SSJ Rage Trunks on their Twitter about a month ago or so if he wasn't playable.

Also, it's already been datamined that Trunks basically has it if I remember correctly.

Not really, it's standard operating procedure for late ports.

But more often than not the other platforms already have all the content out which is why then the late port gets that announced pretty quickly. In this case, not all the DLC is out yet ergo it's reasonable to assume they're waiting until it is.

Are potara earrings in the game?

And... any point to Z-ranking missions? I need to know whether or not I should wake my OCD demon from its slumber.

The free dlc has been playable on steam all day.
Sword of hope does pretty beefy damage, you can't vanish the hits (or at least the cpu set to z-vanish never did) and using an evasive that doesn't actually evade is useless because you can't stagger in sword of hope mode. Vanisher guard is prolly the only stationary evasive that works.

With 7 bars of ki I've been able to do 17k damage with it, all one combo, which is just absurd
ly dope
.
You best run when you see that sword of hope pop out, there's no hope for you if you get hard stamina broken.

Even when I had the cpu spam evasives, he still took ~1.5 lifebars of damage.

Can't wait to put it on a CaC and see if I can push it to 20k+ damage.
