I never realized Runaway Five has six members until this.

I hope someone is actually taking stream pictures for these in game photos for later.

Over 1,700,000$ must be a new record for GDQ. Is it? Couldn't watch a lot of it live (and by the time I was home there was never anything interesting, so I was mostly watching VODs^^)

They raised 2,221,880$ at AGDQ of this year. It was also the first event where they raised over $1 million in a single day.
Ah you're right, it was already over $2 million. Wasn't it because of that crazy donation run during that Bandai Namco raffle^^?

Yes. There's a reason why they show off tons of prizes.

Each dollar of prizes probably generates 100+ dollars of donations. It's a really cost-effective way to increase interest.

There comes a point of diminishing returns, of course, but they've done a good job offering desirable prizes the last couple GDQs.

I wish they wouldn't do RPG's for final runs. They're so slow-paced in comparison to madness like the Jedi Outcast run. Kills so much of my interest to watch someone speedrun something for hour upon hour.

This event was good for distracting me from stressful BS this week. I loved the LttP run, and I've even followed a few streamers I'll have to check out soon. Definitely looking forward to the next event (though I prefer summer streams).

They banned a dansgame emote (dansexy? something like that), I think everything is stemming from that.

I guess that's this: https://twitchemotes.com/emote/123835

I think they banned wutface too.

Whatever. Last few runs have been great and excited for Earthbound in any case.
Ah yes, thank you, that's it. Apparently it was being used against a transgender runner during the event. Good on GDQ for taking care of that. Fucking hell, Twitch chat... so toxic it could create superheroes just by looking at it.

It's probably easier for it just to be one long stable run so the tech crew and staff can clean up as the event winds down instead of having to juggle a bunch of different setups.

I think it's a nice denouement moment, too. A nice way to wind down the end of the event which had a lot of awesome runs. It doesn't need to, nor should it be, a climax of the event.

I personally love that they seem to end each GDQ with RPG goodness.

RPG's is something they should run during the nights

The last day should be all about races with 3 or 4 runners to generate excitement

You're wrong but thats ok. Last run should be like this. Plenty of time to read donations, have volontueers and tech pack shit up etc. A way for everyone to wind down.

It's usually about this same length. Last time was undertale, which was a thunderous success, with a packed house. Thought they'd learn their lesson and do likewise, but I personally like winding down at the end with a classic rpg.

Ending around 5am isn't a great idea...

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
I saw earthbound trending on twitter and started freaking out, but then I remembered SDGQ and noticed this is the final game so decided to join in.

Good SDGQ this year, now to go on youtube and catch up on the ones I missed, which is most of them.

I wasn't going to stay up, but for some reason I've always been at the end of each stream. It does feel sad that it's over, as it always does. lol

Fell asleep about two and a half hours into Earthbound but woke up just before the final boss. Good watching this with everyone, though work and personal circumstances this year meant I couldn't watch as much as usual.

The GDQ stream is currently hosting a random FF6 runner who is now having trouble dealing with the full force of the internet staring at him

The good news is they happen so frequently. I feel the way I feel at the end of an Olympics. It sucks but you have to wait another four years to see the same people again...at least here you can see everyone again in 6 months!

Never thought about it like that before.
