They already fucked us with the voice actors and chris redfield, dont let them take Leons haircut, the one thing that keeps RE sane.

How long is Code Veronica...dear god. I just finished what felt like would be the end, or near, of any of the other classic games but it turns out I just beat "part 1". I'm still having a blast, but oof if the second half is just as long that might get a little tiresome. The tyrant boss fight was straight garbage, too, did they not play test that at all or something?

What are you doing. No. Stop this.

So have you just started Chris's part? You're a little less than halfway

You're at the halfway point, roughly (this is the longest Classic RE by far). Tyrant plane fight is some BS, so I always just use up all my explosive Bowgun ammo on him there, and that's usually enough for me to instantly knock him out of the plane (Bowgun is OP). Also, you brought the empty fire extinguisher with you to Antartica, right? That's, uh, kind of important...

Um I think so? I didn't have it on Claire but I put it in my item box.

And yeah I used most of my explosive bowgun ammo, all of my acid rounds, and my BOW rounds on the two tyrant fights

Haha, told ya. There are few more such rough parts in the game. Just be sure to save often and on at least two slots, because later in the game you can easily fuck yourself by having wrong items with you or by an insta-kill trap. Oh, and since someone already spoiled you that you will be playing as Chris later in the game, keep in mind that Claire and Chris share the item box. So make sure that Chris has something to use once you start playing as him. And be ready that the game can switch between characters whenever it wants without a warning.

You could also leave it at the metal detector box (which a lot people do on their first playthrough). And if you did it, you're... while not fucked, you will sorely miss it at one point in the game.

Female fans would kill capcom if they gave Leon a haircut

It's more of an issue of losing one of his primary defining characteristics (and the most consistent aspect of his various designs from RE2 onwards) than just being less attractive to his target demographic, which is still possible with a more current haircut. At least before the RE7 Chris issue, the broad strokes of character designs largely maintained notable continuity - Chris, Ada, Jill and Claire mostly kept the same colour schemes and general characteristics with little variation, Wesker maintained the sunglasses and haircut despite transitioning to several different all-black wardrobes from CV; and Leon kept the haircut to tie together his appearances even when his colour scheme, general costume and even hair colour changed between games. Regardless of whether or not it'd be an improvement, significantly changing his haircut would be at odds with how they generally approach the designs of recurring characters (again, ignoring 7 and its implications for the series' future - though on that note, I do think it'd be easier to find a face model who can closely match the character's previous appearances for Leon rather than Chris.).

Also, here's RE6 Leon with short hair.

Bought RE7 there and have finished 2 playthroughs so far. Absolutely fantastic game and whilst I wasn't sure how they would handle doing it in first person I thought they did a brilliant job. I hope RE8 is another in this style too, it's great how they managed to make what felt to me anyway like an old style RE game in first person. The characters in the game were fine but I must admit I missed my old favourites from the RE cast, Jack was definitely the most entertaining of the lot, loved his voice actor.

Some questions after finishing:

Any idea what happened to Lucas ? Seems like he took a hissy fit and just fucked off after he didn't kill you. I found it interesting that it seemed like he was always a bit of a killer going by his own personal files and he was cured and not actually infected for most of the game (?)

Is it true that the new 'Umbrella' is supposed to be 'good' with it's new blue logo etc ? I don't believe it for a second but apparently that's what some japanese booklet said about it ?

I'm really looking forward to the new story DLC, I hope it clears some things up

Lucas is in the Upcoming Not A Hero DLC. But he was infected at one point and then cured but kept the benefits of regeneration and such somehow through some third party.
(Why he was able to trick Eveline is beyond me)

You're right on Umbrella (As far as we know, since all we have is a official BB gun insert with that info).

Cheers Jaw, looking forward to the story DLC :)

Is the current paid DLC much good or more of a 'when you get season pass cheap' kinda deal ? Admittedly the DLC I'm interested in the most is the free one so I'm in no rush.

I'd say to wait on the DLC until it's on sale or we know the full extent of the last DLC. The nightmare tapes 1 and 2 really don't offer much but some bite sized content unless you are into trophy/achievement hunting. Then there's the whole lack of info on the last bit of DLC. All we know is from Dusk Golem that it's going to basically be a mini-campaign in a new location with more of a horror focus compared to Not a Hero's action focus.

Where was this said?

It's in one of the files near the end. That's why he has the lab and such in the mines.
It's not outright said, but there's enough there that it's the current story unless more comes out for many.

Yeah there are definitely some really strange design choices in this game so far that hold it back from the other classic titles, but the good stuff is really good. I definitely didn't leave the extinguisher in a security box, I made sure to get all my stuff from both of them.

That's why I would love for the game to be remade. There's a good game there hindered by a couple of annoying issues or game designs. And even though this is the game where RE jumped the shark (Claire inflirtating the Umbrella HQ alone, Wesker coming back to life, intelligent Tyrants that throws fire around), it still has a pretty good and interesting story.

Got to the Chris section. I'm glad the Antarctica portion was short because fuck those fucking piece of shit moths. Who thought literally anything about that hallway and those enemies were acceptably designed?? Easily the worst thing in the game so far, Christ.

I also had to redo the last section and boss because I didn't think picking up the sniper was a point of no return and I had basically all my good stuff on me and no weapons for Chris. Luckily the boss was really easy, though. But still, fuck those moths man.

I'm glad to be back on the island with Chris.

There is one swap back to Claire, then back to Chris for rest of game. The Claire section is very short and linear so make the most of the one item box you pass.

I'm restarting RE 0 since I never went passed the Train. Backtracking turned me off at the time. Is there anything I need to worry about avoiding to avoid a dead game?

Anyone tried Vaccine? Curious if it's a small supllement for classic RE (on Switch, for PC there is Outbreak!)

Ugh. I might just read online where those points are because I don't want to screw myself over and have to reload an old save again.

You will switch once to Claire right after you rescue her as Chris. However, it will be for a very short time and during that time she will mostly encounter a couple of basic enemies, a single insta-kill trap (remember to save!) and an unkillable boss (bring at least two full-healing items for the fight and don't borther fighting it!) and that's it.

From this moment on leave all powerful weapons to Chris, because he will need them.

I don't think there are any dead ends; however, a couple of tips to avoid annoyances:

* you will need Hook Shot a couple of times in the third major location, so don't leave it in the train crash area

* before you activate the Observatory (at the end of the second area), I recommend bringing all your items to the Observatory; you will avoid annoying backtracking

* at one point in the game Rebecca will be alone for a long period of time; keep that in mind since I don't remember if Billy leaves his items and weapons once he's gone

Helena never clicked with me for some reason, it's weird because I'm really fond of RE's female cast and I love Laura Bailey, I think her personality didn't click with me in the end.

Helena is a fine character that just needed a better story. All she does throughout the game is being the reason to even go to the cathedral ("I can't tell you now!", "I have to show it to you", "Not now", "You'll see") in the first part of the game, and a token co-op partner that's completely irrelevant story-wise in the second part of the game.

Her looks, her moves, her voice is great. She's just a really useless character in the game :/

Now that I think about, yeah, that was really annoying.

Her story arc of "I need to be punished because all of this is my fault, even though I did what I did because they threatened me and my sister's life and everyone knows this" was pretty dumb too. When they resolved it, saying it's not really her fault, I was like "No shit.". I guess it's kind of a japanese thing. I mean, I get feeling guilty about it, but she was ready to be taken away in handcuffs.

Yeah, her story was shit. I'm so damn tired of that "I feel so guilty even though I didn't do anything wrong" schtick.

Suddenly I'm wondering what they'd do to Sheva's face if they ever brought her back.

Yesss let the hate flow through you all. When Leon was like "I think I'm starting to like you!" after she had done literally nothing but string him along on a murderous goose chase without doing anything even remotely likeable or charming since just about the only words to come out of her mouth were "I can't tell you yet!!", I was about ready to have them both be ejected from the airplane they were riding in.

It's especially stupid when you realize that all she did was breach the President's security. As if having his bodyguards around would prevent POTUS from getting infected with the virus (that was airborne after all) or being killed by a zombie.

Let's focus on the positive, I really liked Sherry and even Jake grew on me. Ada was awesome as always and it was nice to get something a bit more personal from her.

Ada's campaign was horrible, easily the worst. Leon's story may have sucked, but at least it had some fun chapters to play in there. Ada's was just bullshit janky stealth and gimmick nonsense.

Leon's first three chapters are among the best of the game. The last two fail because for the most parts it's gimmicky setpieces and cutscenes. And Ada's whole campaign is like that. At least the individual chapters are noticably shorter than the three main campaigns.

Leon's campaign was pretty trash until he got to shanghai. The whole tall oaks and church along with the tombs bring in shitty moment after shitty moment.

Forced walking
Trying to be scary
Crap puzzles
Swimming sections
Lame boss fights

I don't know how anyone says his campaign is the best outside those who are just eased to see any semblance of classic re even if it's terrible

The Shanghai levels at least don't try to be anything more than what RE6 actually is. Even if Simmons drags for too long

I love how when you need to smash the x button when being chased in the water by that thing he doesnt move an inch, it's really silly.

I think Chris had easily the best campaign among them. He has the best enemies and bosses, best setpieces, and least reliance on annoying gimmicks.

Leon's is marred by annoying walk and talk sections in the beginning, zombies not being as fun to fight, and the poor ending.

Jake's is just crazy uneven since it has a lot of whacky scripted stuff, but has some of the highest highs of the game.

I was talking about the character but I have to say that I liked her campaign with the exception of the last chapter. It was definitely the one that gave me the most RE vibes, especially the graveyard/catacombs with the lower enemy count and focus on light puzzle solving and finding items to unlock doors. The hate honestly surprises me.
Story-wise it was nice to see her be more than the misterious character that clearly has her own agenda and is always one step ahead. The story affected her on a personal level and made her lose her cool more than once which is something we don't usually see from her.

I think lowering the enemy count and increasing the "puzzles" puts RE6 in the worst light because it's really only good at crazy combat encounters.

I disagree, Leon's campaign is actually all Helena's story, Leon just tags along to help. From the very start it about getting to and saving her sister, then revenge (which gets dragged out as Simmons refuses to die).

I feel it's a matter of pacing. The approach they took with Chris with non-stop shooting from start to finish isn't my cup of tea. I need both the highs and the lows to stay engaged.
