PSVR in dark matter. Second pic sort of spoilery if you watch the show as its gives away the 2nd half of the episode

It's not so much the way he talks, which surely is a bit annoying, but much more so his attitude. His acting like a wannabe superstar is what really makes me cringe and wanting to stop playback.

pretty sure its the whole thing. I need to add him to the block on youtube list soon. painful

Its a pass-through when powered down, so it should work. Is your PSVR powered on? If so, it will default to 1080p I believe.

Have you done all the updates? I seem to recall my PSVR box was only sending a 1080p only from the Ps4 Pro until the updates were applied.

I was using two different inputs on my TV, one for direct connection for HDR, etc and one for the breakout box. Breakout box was sending 1080p because I had to specifically enable 4k input in the TV options.

Have you used the same TV input for 4k successfully?
Thanks for all the responses. Ultimately I think it was because the PSVR box was not updated, once I plugged in the VR headset and turned it on it prompted an update and when it finished everything was fixed.

Here's what I can gather about the VR stuff, these replies were 3 months ago.

the whole game is playable in VR! Even the course editor, which in my opinion is really cool in VR.
We are using a 3rd person camera positioned over/behind the character while aiming. Once you hit the ball, you can follow the ball with your head, or, if it gets too far away, you can use the re-position button, which gives you a new camera position near the ball by teleporting there.
Right now only game pad support is planned, however we are looking at Move as well.

So I used to play a lot of minigolf games and really enjoyed them when i was around 10. Been missing out this genre for a long time, so Infinite Minigolf really interest me with its community stages and online. Seems like an ultimate minigolf game, plus it's only $15.

Now here's the problem. It is coming to Switch. I can either choose to buy it on Switch, which I will spend much more time in because of handheld+toilet play. Or I can get the PS4 version which includes sweet PSVR mode. I might wait for more PSVR info before deciding, but it's one of the toughest choice ever.

I'm waiting on a gameplay video, if VR mode is all I've ever wanted out of minigolf, I'll get it there. Honestly I want something we as a community can play because we haven't had that killer app yet where we can just all make a party and play.

Hopefully Smashbox Arena will solve that problem, seeing how freaking loved it is on PCVR, there are so many people with 100~200+ hours in it.
The VR mode is most likely a VR cam, there won't be Move hitting golf for sure, at least for launch.

But still, seeing colorful environment in VR is something really special. *those statements were posted 3 months ago*

Holy crap, look at how Dino Frontier is handling UI stuff.

Wow, that's rad as fuck!

If I had seen the trailer and the PSVR logo at the end, I'd have been instantly sold and committed to getting it for VR. But knowing it's coming to the Switch too? Yeah, now I'm not so sure. This game looks perfect for playing on the Switch. It's going to be a tough decision.

You manage Dino in a Frontier.

Alright for real, you are a giant mayor of the town, you build stuff, plant crops, manage humans and fight dinosaurs/enemies. Tame dinosaur, train them, build mines, build weapons and stuff.
A god sim basically. You can watch Easy Allies impression.

Oh nice VR a great platform for Strategy/Sim games.

Whatever happened to that Social VR thing that Sony did a press demo of before launch?

The one with the bobble-hat wearing Mii avatars on an island. They had some weird thing where the avatars would make eye contact and their mouths would animate based on what the headset mike picked up. Lots of physics hijinks, they were able to play chopsticks on a virtual piano using Moves.

I'll see if I can find the YouTube link, assuming it wasn't one of those gin-induced fever dreams...

Short means? 2 hours? 5 hours?^^

Fully depends on your puzzle solving skill. The game is live-die-repeat but you only have 4 main levels. I would say maybe around 2 hours. But seriously, the game is really good. It's the best escape room type of game you can play now. Sitting beside Statik maybe, which is a little longer. Although, I will say Statik is a better game for the price and content offered, plus it has 3 co-op boxes.

I pray that they aren't keeping those stuff for psvr 2.0
I wish they will throw us into a VR environment at boot up, let us mess around and select games in there.

Thanks, sounds like a game I need. But I think I should wait at least until the summer sale^^

Yep. $25 is a little pricey. Plus the DLC is most likely a paid content.
Also the game intro music video is really cool. I said the same thing like a thousand time in this thread already.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
Anyone else who played some more of Fantastic Contraption? I can't figure out how to build effective catapults. Anyone got a hint?

Has anyone of you played "I Expect You To Die"? Looks like that kind of game I'm mostly into, like Batman: Arkham VR or Job Simulator.

Great game only 4 levels that may require 2-5 tries to complete each.

If you play them back to back to back it may not be tat long depending on how quick you solve the puzzles.
I played it in short burst just quit after solving one level and played it later when I was in the mood.

The game is basically a VR Escape Room

Is Farpoint OK without the Aim? I was waiting for Aim before playing but I am losing hope finding one, Sony doesn't seem to keen on making more.

Aim is a must, enhances the game by a lot.

Having fun with Fantastic Contraption. It's pretty damn hilarious seeing some cobbled together monstrosity venture off.

I just wish they explained some of the tools and let you resize the play field

Try picking something from your ears, eyes, nose. And how far are you? I really need to figure out how to do that damn catapult.

You win, Uber Entertainment... I just preordered Dino Frontier! I had a blast with Wayward Sky and that video MattAces posted of how the UI works looks rad. I love dinosaurs and VR, so I hope that the game kicks ass.

It's actually kind of crazy how lively this thread is. I'm really surprised at the number of PS VR games coming down the pipe during the summer. Sony's impressed me with the amount of support they continue to give the headset.

Ok, finally bought PSVR. It seems to be readily available in Singapore as I saw them in store as well.
I even got a bundle: PSVR w/o camera with 1 Move controller and VR Worlds on disc. 591 SGD, delivered. Will get another 6% off from my cc rebate and I already had the camera and two Move controllers, so I'll probably sell the third one for profit.

So my VR entry price should come down to around 385 USD incl. tax, pretty good considering it comes with a game and we usually don't get good bundles/offers here compared to the US or EU...

Setting everything up was relatively complex for such a consumer product, I can't see this being done well by the masses lol
I have not enough room in front of my TV for playing it standing up/walking around so I put a little chair to the side of my TV and play in that area. That way I also don't hit people watching from the couch. I should place my camera higher but it is what it is.

btw when playing by myself, I needed to get used to juggle the headset, my big Sennheiser headphones (which don't 100% fit, not sure if I do it well), 1 normal controller and 2 Move controllers. All while staying in front of the camera. I putn ow a little stool in a corner to place the controllers.
Definitely will not buy any more PSVR games on disc as that would make switching games very inconvenient.

Games I played so far:

VR Worlds:
Glad this came with the headset as I might not have bought it otherwise. So far the most polished VR experiences for me are in there, including the main menu haha
- The London Heist - Best piece of VR I played so far. Mostly because I think most games in which you don't control your hands via 2 Move controllers are way inferior regarding immersion and fun/interactivity. Even for someone watching it's more fun seeing the gestures etc. Though I don't like games with just floating hands and no arms/body though. I wonder if the disconnect is bigger when your don't move as they do in real life though.
- Ocean Descent - neat but obviously just for looking around
- Danger Ball - good VR mini game without Move as you use your head. I played standing up.
- VR Luge - wow I got severe motion sickness from that one, especially when I hit anything and it slowed me down. Could only do one race. I forgot to turn on my fan though which seems to really help.
- Scavengers Odyssey - stopped halfway once I felt motion sickness coming up (mostly when I tried jumping twice in a row before landing the first jump). Seems decent.

Playroom VR:
Surprisingly good tech-demo stuff in there, just like the original Playroom. Haven't tried all the games yet but having asynchronous multiplayer available is fantastic when having a friend over. Also empathizes the strength of PSVR compared to the other headsets. Really good image quality compared to some of the other PSVR games, I love looking at the figurines up close. The third person jump&run game sudden camera movement that I don't even control gives me a dizzy feeling btw.

Star Wars Battlefront: Rogue One X-Wing VR:
I already got Battlefront so this was a welcome free content bonus. Very well done, although near the end I felt the motion sickness coming up. Maybe because of playing it like a normal flight game and doing too many turns etc.
Oh and I liked that giant AT-AT walking by in the menu. One of the biggest differences between VR and normal gaming is that VR gives you a sense for the scale. There better be a Jurassic Park VR game!

Resident Evil 7:
This is a weird one. Graphics can have nice effects but during bright times/more open spaces the game looks so bad in VR, a pixelated, shimmering mess that can really be distracting (and hard to see stuff in the distance). Also the immersion is not as good as I hoped, mostly because you can only play with a normal controller (that doesn't even have a presence like in Playroom) and not 2 Moves... Still, it's a very creepy house so far and I enjoy the presentation/style. I only played till you fight the
girl you rescue
so far, but I hoped it would be more scary. Like, traumatizing so. But so far the stuff is mostly in your face. I would prefer feeling something behind me or creeping in from the periphery but it's just the beginning so let's see :)
Motion sickness was in check, only a very slow buildup but I played this on my first day so I have no tolerance yet. They seem to have a good trick in place to not make you sick from walking. Does the white HUD help even more? Don't really want to activate that though.

The invasion:
Cute animated short but IQ is bad for something like this.

Some games also seem to have more drift? I don't have to re-center during VR worlds at all but I think in RE7 I needed to relatively often.

Will try all the demos available. I think I will mostly like the escape room kinda ones played with 2 Move controllers.

Will likely buy soon:
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
Surgeon Simulator
maybe Tumble and Sportsbar
Batman
and I already preordered Superhot VR

Anything above 20 Euros will take a bit more convincing or once I'm running out of content.
Therefore a VR PSN sale would be nice... I have my eyes on Job Simulator, Robinson, I expect you to die. Star Trek... I think I don't want to play with randoms...

btw turns out smartwatches are a good way to stay connected to the real world (as it vibrates when I get a call etc.)

Avoid EU PSN, go for US PSN. There's a lot of store/seller around MY/SG that have a lot of sale for US PSN top up cards. Plus PayPal Gift and PCGameSupply will have monthly cheaper top up cards too.
Also try COD Jackal Assault and Statik demo.
As for drifting, leave your headset on a flat surface when it is booting up, at least 30secs~1minute, i made it a practice to do it every time. If it drifts again, take it off and put it on a flat surface again.
Lastly for nice games, make sure you don't miss out any games from just looking at the picture, a lot of them are really good. Mortal Blitz, Dick Wilde, Fruit Ninja (very polished, one of the best tracking game), Statik.

Mh I would but my main account is EU and nowadays I prefer having everything available via one account (and getting the PS+ sales). I still go for the US flash sales sometimes.

I buy my Euro top up cards on ebay, too. 45 EUR for 50 PSN credit. And I get another few bucks off from the cc rebate. So it's like 43-44 per topup, not too bad if you mostly buy games on sale.

oh, thanks for those tips! Yeah I want to try the Statik demo. Fruit Ninja maybe as well as I never played it and I want some VR swords.

Gotcha. I just dislike EU PSN for its pricing. At least in the US, everything is closer to a whole number. Also upcoming stuff will be a pain. Tiny Trax, Theseus, Archangel, Superhot VR, Dino Frontier, Smashbox Arena, Infinite Minigolf and all of those games are released in within the next 2 weeks.

Also just thought of sharing my setup. I have a huge space behind me, so I will switch my camera from there to above my monitor whenever I'm playing any seated game. The height of my camera is around my head level.

Shrennin

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
My VR games so far:

Polybius
VR Worlds
Rez Infinite
Thumper
Job Simulator
Batman: Arkham VR
Spider-Man: Homecoming (free)
Battlefront Rogue One VR (free)
Super Hot bundle

VR really is quite something.

Finally found the WSJ article of PSVR number sold.
http://archive.is/JIbr4

Still couldn't find the original source of that image, I've seen other articles saying the image is from WSJ. We are expecting around 1.6~1.8mil. Pretty impressive, VR developers ignoring PSVR market is a bad mistake...

Yeah, especially because PSVR has such a huge attach rate when it comes to software, I have 36 VR games so far and have only gotten pass 10 of them in my backlog lol. Too many games to play.
