Just thought I'd provide a PSA to people here.

If you pre-orderd the game from Best Buy and you cancel your pre-order, they will end up charging you $19.99 for the beta code.
Yep you'll need to get in contact with a Community Person on their support boards to get it refunded. I had canceled 3 preorders and was dinged with this but i was able to get it refunded

Played for 10hrs 7 of them crucible and me and my friends fell in love all over again. All the one hit kill abilites are gone, TTK is fantastic with primary gun play being encouraged and teamwork is rewarded with team shooting others. I hope they don't touch any of the weapons damages right now because they finally feel balanced and skill with any weapon can win a gun fight.

I'm so happy to be playing Destiny again with no two taps and grenade spamming.

Does the beta have HDR enabled? Because wow. That first mission on my 4k TV was wild. So many colors and used a vivid ways. I'm already totally sold on D2. The hand cannon feels great and the particle effects were so good.

It feel like they upgraded everything except the geometry. That being said the videos and pictures do not do this game justice AT ALL. In motion in person it looks great.

Feeling super squishy as a Warlock. Is there a reason it takes 3 melee hits to kill an opponent when it only takes 2 for them to kill me from full? Hoping its just me because this shit's happening consistently now.

Also is there a way to get Upgrade Points in the beta?
Break their shield and melee will kill in 1

I really like the Hunter dodge ability, but I'm also kind of bummed that the other two classes get a cool help the team ability. I like helping the team. Are there gonna other options for class ability in the full game?

You feel squishy because you are! The default warlock armor setup is zero resilience. You can change that via the perks and new armor pieces.

Is that true? I was playing a hunter in crucible, and I killed someone with golden gun. Did I have to hit him twice?

I moved the "Look Sensitivity" from 3-to-6 and it felt much better and more like the current iteration of Destiny to me. May or may not help others.

Part of the issue here is the fact that we don't have our tweaked/perfected loadouts that we're used to but yes, something definitely feels different with the overall gunplay in the "Beta."

They've definitely tweaked something about the aiming and hit responses for the worse. The weapons in the beta also seem less satisfying to use than in D1. The absolute best points of D1 feel less stellar this time around.

No, this feels pretty wack compared to the first Destiny in this regard.

It's like the list of things they should have changed and the list they absolutely should not have got mixed up.

I see. I guess that explains it as I haven't played Destiny before.

Hopefully things will be tuned further for the final release later. My other gripe is the FOV that feels too close for me. Fortunately for me, apparently the PC version will support FOV change so I guess I'm cool. Graphics look fantastic even on a PS4 Amateur, and it'll only get better on my PC. Looking forward to playing this in October.

I knew stickies didn't kill in 1 stick anymore (BOO), but....it takes 3 punches to kill someone?

....argh!!

Oh, and when Zavala says fall back in my shield, do it.

Last, still unsure about the new weapon system. Having two primary weapons felt...off.

No, do not do this. Run AWAY from Zavala. The mission is actually kind of stupid once you realize -

1) Zavala doesn't do anything and does not need to be protected.

and

2) The missiles go directly at him. If you stay even a little away from him you're safe. The farther the better.

He's completely pointless.

Agree with you on the weapon slots, though, but it's not "primary". It's kinetic, solar, and power.

Having a solar Auto Rifle and a Kinetic Auto Rifle, but them being in two different slots, is annoying as it's restricting in a wholly different way. Not hugely, obviously, but .... annoyingly..

There it is! That's what I was looking for, thanks!
Yeah, that made a big difference, which for some reason I didn't think it would because of the "Level Advantages Disabled" thing on the crucible.

For some reason it didnt register with me that Res/Mob/Rec weren't universally the same for the beta. Dumb assumption and I'm glad i was wrong about it.

Yeah, Zavala actually got me killed because I listened to his blue ass. I was off near the ledge giving Cabal a fisting and should have just stayed there.

It’s energy weapons not “solar” weapons

As a huge defender of D1, the PvP really hasn't grabbed me. I used both Sentinel and Striker and wasn't impressed with either.

The movement and gun feel in D1 felt pretty fantastic, and D2 feels like a step in the wrong direction.

Pro:
Based on the sample mission, the story should be great. Can't wait.
The graphics are beautiful, if not a tad like Halo 5.. Super glossy. Not sure I love that, but it does look nice on an OLED.
The KA:D (defeated) addition is welcome for a potato like me.
Giving raids the benefit of the doubt.

Con:
The guns feel... off. Light and floaty and aim feels weird and the TTK is crazy high. The guns don't feel sticky at all. And they sound more like "technology" than guns.
I guess I have to get used to the titan supers, but they feel bad. Titan supers involve rushing headlong directly at the other team and hoping they don't team shoot you.
Ability and super charge times are way too long.

Several things have to change. Supers take too long to come up many of the weapons feel off scouts pulse rifles don't feel right at all the hand cannons felt ok and the exotics felt goods. Everyone loving the lack of abilities or how slow they are that's what made Destiny special if I wanted pure gunplay only I'd play COD this is Destiny right now things feel off. I did like most of what I played but some things just need to be fixed supers power ammo drops warlock jump is way to floaty now.

I feel like they are taking away things that made Destiny unique for the whiny PVP crowd again if you don't want shooting and great powers play COD or some other shooter but space magic and feeling powerful is what made Destiny great and why I play on both consoles with 3000+ hrs of play time since day one.

It really takes way to long for supers right now and that's just lame. And the enemies seem even more spongy than ever. I hope they will undo some of this crap.

Not really. You have a great vantage point and cover on that ledge he's on and can easily take out every wave from there. If you're on that ledge with him his shield will protect you completely from the missile barrage anyway.

But it doesn't really matter it's just the opening mission so it's no exceptionally difficult and yes, at the end of the day he's there to add something neat to the mission for fans but there's nothing wrong with that and I damn sure hope they do more of it.

I'm going to go play Destiny 1 now with my Hunger Build for Voidwalker equipped with Nothing Manacles.

Not feeingl D2, sorry. Too much No Fun Allowed in this game.

hell, even the Fusion Rifle is a heavy now. I used that thing in PvE to take down enemy shields. Susanoo mother fuckers

Yeah, typo. Meant energy. Had the kinetic and solar example I was going to use later in my head and just type-farted.

I didn't say I didn't like that they're putting NPC's in, he's just completely pointless once you realize those two things. And there's plenty of places around the map to take cover / rip them apart / as you said, it's still easy overall so it's not a big deal.

Just if you're on another part of the map and he yells...don't listen to him, you probably won't make it / are safer where you are.

I played some team that had a clan name like Trump Voters or something.

They got wrecked.

Felt nice to virtually beat up racists.

I really enjoyed the mission and the strike, not sure how I feel about the warlock subclass though. The super feels kinda clunky. I really enjoyed the Energy Pulse rifle, it easily clicked with me and was my go to weapon for mission, strike and PvP.
I'm really sad that they did not include a patrol area in the beta though. Would have been great to run around and shoot stuff to get a better feeling for the subclass.

Also the warlock ship looks awesome!

How are the new classes?

Will jump in when the Beta opens up to non preorders, but i'm a bit bummed out that the Nightstalker and Stormcaller calsses are gone. Couldn't we have kept them over Bladedancer and Voidwalker?

Unfortunately, its more likely they just thought it was a funny name. Considering you can change the clan name every couple hours or so, there've been a lot of those sorts of things ever since Bungie released clan stuff. Not as satisfying, I know, but at least you still kicked their collective ass.

Yep. PvP continues to be the plague of the game

Sentinel is good for PvE, not PvP (at least for me). Ward of Dawn is a big plus. Dawnblade is really cool too.

Biggest problem for me is the extremely slow charging times. Takes some of the fun out when the average use of a Super is either none or once during a Control match. It's a really big problem for me.

Other than that, as a three year D1 veteran, everything else looks, feels, plays, and sounds awesome. (10 hrs into the Beta and also played at E3).

Been out of town but not liking what I'm reading about supers being pulled back on. Thats what made Destiny special. Running a super train down 5k with 2 minutes to go to face roll the other team is probably the most awesome game shifting mechanic I've seen.

I could do without the Titan panic smashes and someone having a super a minute into the match. But slowing them down that much seems to go against what made Destiny it's own thing.

Will be able to log on Thursday night and see for myself.

I hate panic Titan smashes

This beta is quickly reminding me how much I loved Hand Cannons in the first game. This just feels fun and satisfying to use.

...So when can I get my Thorn back?

Bungie, If you're listening - I know you are pathologically obsessed with "balance", but you can't cut down player count in the Crucible AND nerf grenade and super cool downs as well - that's going too far.

It's one or the other.

Great music btw.

Hmm.. tried playing but I can't get through the opening without suddenly getting "You have been returned to orbit. Please try again." and having to restart from the very beginning.

too much being taken away. Less perk variety. Supers grenades and melees take forever to charge, with no way to improve the CD now? Strike was pretty mediocre, no new exciting gameplay mechanics. Weapons are even more boring now with snipers, shotties, fusions all in heavy weapon slot now. Beat the strike once and got the same autorifle I was using and was disheartened cause I knew it was the exact same.

this speaking as a PvE player. I don't do PvP. Sorry Bungie, but you gotta show me more, otherwise Im sitting this one out

Almost all of the questionable stuff from the beta and info prior is because of Bungie's insistence on doing something they're clearly not competent enough to do - make compelling PvE and PvP shared environments. They're trying to fix their mess of PvP by severely limiting non-primaries and increasing cooldowns on everything. It's just made PvE drier. I wonder if anything could break them out of this idea.

They feel the strongest in the beta damage wise

Also kind of nice being able to have one in both slots. I know it was a kind of small change, but having what were primary weapons in primary and secondary slots (with elemental versions of primaries) is adding a lot for me in terms of kit customization possibilities. Can't wait to see how it plays out in the final release.

All the complaints I'm reading look like positives to me. A greater focus on gunplay and less on supers / power weapons is exactly what I wanted.

They've completely neutered pve for the sake of pvp balance. Having two primaries feels stupid. I want my damn sniper back. Supers and nades charge slow as hell. My Titan moves slow. I was just kind of bored playing it. PVP was pretty dull as well but my main issue is with PVE. They've balanced all the fun out of it. Maybe there is something we don't know about that changes things but I can only go on what I played. I'll pass if this is how the game is going to be. Reminds me of Gears 2 where they tried to slow everything down to make the game more tactical.
