I paid good money for this Dynex!
Question: Why doesn't Sekai Project sell all their games on the Denpasoft store? Like... they're the same group, right? Either I'm missing something, or this is literally the dumbest way to operate a storefront.

I believe all of sekai project games on their website is all ages. While Denpasoft store is all 18+ games.

Also, is the uncensor patch for Dies Irae out? Physical copies are supposedly shipping soon, so I want to know if I can play it right out of the gate, or if I should hold off.

Just finished my first Visual Novel, Muv Luv steam edition. It's an interesting medium, much more engrossing than I was expecting. Although I'm really not a fan of harem simulators, the writing was pretty well done, and the Unlimited section
did a really good job of believably portraying the carefree characters from Extra as though they really grew up in a world of constant warfare.

To be honest though, I mostly played it so I could play Muv Luv Alternative because I hear so many great things about it. Anyone have any idea when that's going to release on steam?

Degica had a build of the game running at AnimeExpo. When I asked the guys at the booth about it they said the demo was around 70% done and the actual internal build was around 80% done or so. Hopefully it will be out on PC by the end of the year.

Cool, thanks.

Am I the only one that'll take an all-ages release over a 18+ one every single time?

there's tons like you which is the reason all-ages get pushed nowadays as much as they are. I'm the opposite though.

Just received DALK and Words Worth. Will be going through DALK first, should be fun.

Denpasoft's got a countdown timer on their page that ends in 4 days. Probably just a website redesign or something lame, but would be cool if they were like "surprise, we're selling DRM-free versions of the stuff we had on Steam now, too."

A few hours into 2064:ROM, not really feeling it so far, for some reason I thought it was from the same dev as VA-11 HALL-A but it just some tie backs to it.

Not really digging the fact that your character has no involvement in the story so far.

I thought it was kinda cool in 2014, when it launched on Ouya. There was still novelty to the genre, then, and this was before official VN releases started taking off in the west (and by taking off, I mean "existing in a meaningful capacity."

It's definitely an indie game that tries way too hard for its own good.

Holy crap, it came out in 2014? I mean, that really isn't that old tbh, maybe in terms of westernized VNs?

Not really digging any of the characters so far, Turing is OK though his rants go on for far too long, like look how smart I am.

The whole game is "look how ____ I am."

Chaos;Child ESRB rating is up.

Rated M for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, and Strong Language. I, for one, am shocked.

(Nothing too spoilery in there, kind of hints at the nature of some of the murders and risqué scenes I suppose)

I finished Steins;Gate on Vita with the localized version last night and really enjoyed it. I usually dislike VNs, but I'm finding more and more the VNs I play on handheld devices I enjoy way more. My favorite VNs are Time Travelers on Vita, Steins;Gate on Vita and 999 on DS. Reading a novel for hours and hours on a computer monitor or TV is draining and I definitely prefer english if I'm reading something that long. Besides those I've read most of KEYs stuff, Higurashi, Saya no Uta, and the rest of the Good People Die series, Layton series, Hotel Dusk, although that's getting more into puzzle games.

Are there any other top-tier really great VNs available in english on either IOS/Vita/DS/PSP?

I really enjoyed Ghost Trick, Danganronpa, and most recently Utawarerumono (the first game is on PC with a fan translation, or just do what I did and watch the anime on Funimation). I haven't played them yet, but I've heard good things about Ace Attorney and Code: Realize. And make sure you get The House in Fata Morgana if (when) its Vita port gets localised!

I feel the same way, I find it next to impossible to read visual novels on a PC for any length of time, but PC has by far the widest section. The best solution for me has been using Microsoft's free Remote Desktop apps to stream visual novels from my PC to my ipad or android phone screens. That way I have full access to Steam, fan translations etc. but in a form factor that suits me. The ipad app in particular is pretty seamless in my experience.

Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception is my GOTY so far.

Have finished all but 1 route in Grisaia and honestly about 70% of the H scenes feel incredibly out of place and give some tonal whip lash. Just
blew up the school
? Time to do the dirty. Sometimes the characters finally consummating their relationship can add a bit of characterization within itself but they all went down pretty much the same way for most of them and there was no meaning in it.

The only ones I felt really worked are Amane's (given her personality and what she was trying to do) and Sakaki (given the situation, her questionable internet browsing, and their proximity). I really don't like it when H scenes are just pure fanservice at least in more serious VN's like this.

Hmmm I might look into this. I been using a Remote Desktop app to read some VN.
its a pain since the app's mouse doesn't work on some of them.

I do recommend one, with a caveat: get one that has at least 2 gb of ram. 1 gb is pushing it in some VNs and outright useless in those that use fancy systems like emote

I would recommend 4GB Visual Novels might run ok with 2 but Windows 10 nearly chokes on it. Don't even think of opening more than a few tabs in a web browser or trying to have something in the background while reading.

Just wanted to ask quick - I've found a great deal on a PS4, and as such I want to play Steins;Gate 0 ASAP, and the cheapest copies I can find are from the UK. Are there any differences between the UK and NA copies?

Just trying to avoid a situation that results in quirks like how with Catherine for PS3 which had an issue with giving Japanese trophies for some reason. The obvious issue would be DLC but there isn't any, so it should be good right?

How's the surface pro 4, i5 core, 4gb for VNs? Can it play pretty much any VN? I have an old Asus Transformer and anything intensive has stutters and other issues. I tried running Muv Luv on it and it won't even boot :| Maybe I should upgrade to a surface pro.

No difference, DLC aside.

I'm using a core M5 tablet with 4gb of RAM (read weaker than the surface pro) and Ive successfully played Sunrider Liberation Day (had to plug it in and put it in high performance mode to run well). Also was able to run Fruit of Grisaia (runs perfectly in low performance power saving mode) and I've even run Skyrim and Hyper Dimension Neptunia with playable framerates on low at 720p.

Keep in mind the Surface Pro is heavy enough to become uncomfortable after holding it more than a few minutes (well at least the 3 was) and big enough that it's awkward to one hand.

Bleh, that sucks.

Steins;Gate on vita was really perfect. It was super comfortable and I could read in bed for hours. It was a great platform for VN.

Anyone tried the shield or any of those type of streaming handhelds for PC VNs? I wonder if that would be closer than dealing with a full size tablet. Although ipad isn't bad, I read comics on that for hours in bed sometimes and it's comfortable enough. Maybe I should look into the PC streaming to ipad stuff.
