Marvel announces Iron Fist season 2

Why does everyone hate Finn so much? I thought the big problem was the way his character was written

The way the show ended up made it look like he had no clue about martial arts, despite playing the world's best martial artist in theory.
Apparently he really did work for months to prepare for the role, but the actual filming was rushed and the fights weren't well choreographed or prepared for because of it.

I've seen someone say one fight they had only twenty minutes to rehearse before.
Either way, he was not convincing as Iron Fist, nor was he a very charismatic lead.

The series got much better at the end when it started REALLY being about Iron Fist so .. maybe ?

Is Marvel aware of how poorly received this show was among the fandom? Or am I being misled by the GAF echo chamber? (iron Fist is the only MCU visual media I have not watched)

They need to rebuild this series back from the ground up. Jones needs to hit the gym and learn martial arts, there needs to be new writers and a new showrunner, etc. It needs to be a soft reboot, at the very least. Or kill off Danny Rand and cast a new Iron Fist.

Because he's not physically suited to the part, because he acts like a creepy crazy person throughout the series, because he's not an actual martial artist, because he's not a charismatic enough actor to carry a series? I mean, why would anyone like him?

Uh, before Luke Cage or Jessica Jones? Uh that's a bummer because Iron Fist is the worst of the four.

Luke Cage season 2 was announced some time back and is having casting done right now. Jessica Jones season 2 was filmed recently, it'll be out next year.

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.
It wasn't amazing or anything, but I liked it enough to finish it at least.

Watch it. Come on now. It's the worst MCU Netflix show but it's still a 6.5 or 7 out of 10.

I think the fact that they announced this without announcing that Buck would be back shows that they know how fans feel about Scott Buck at the moment. The question is whether they'll go find someone better, or just stick with him because he does things cheap and fast (which is the same reason he got the Inhumans job, because while that didn't need to cheap it, it absolutely needed to be done fast).

Finn Jones needs to get in the gym

Scott Buck needs to hire the Martial Law stunt team

He also needs to learn to not bore the fuck out of me. Watch Arrow S2 to learn how to better pace your show

Scott Buck needs to hire a cab to drive him as far away from wherever they're filming this series as possible. Between late season Dexter, Iron Fist season 1 and what Inhumans is looking like, we can write him off as a god awful showrunner.

Get a showrunner with action experience at least, if not martial arts property experience.

It's a shame that the Marvel Netflix shows have taken this trajectory since Luke Cage (or DD S2, whichever was first). They went from amazing (Daredevil) to really good (Jessica Jones) to meh ok shows.

Hope Iron Fist season 2 brings new talent otherwise it's going to be a no from me personally.

Lame. Whatever, if it reviews well and doesn't have Scott Buck behind it (I am now forever hip), guess I'd check it out.
For Colleen and Misty.

It obviously got big ratings and also doesn't have a bad rating on user rating on Netflix.

I think most people enjoyed it well enough. I doubt any large portion of people thought it was amazing but I definitely wouldn't take GAFs reaction to the show as representative of the larger population

I think with a different showrunner and a better schedule (they were really rushed I think) there could be something good beneath all the garbage.

When/If Inhumans fails I hope Marvel will actually put distance between themselves and Buck.

Really though, it's salvageable with a new showrunner and approach. There were few problems with the series that can't be addressed, most should be fixable.
Colleen Wing was well cast and is a fine lead despite the weak writing, they can move away from the corporate boardroom setting now and put more emphasis on the martial arts and mystical side. Finn Jones is not a great lead, but he can probably be fine if they improved the writing for him and had some great choreographers working on the action scenes.

I mean he's not going to get less experienced in martial arts, even if he started from zero for season 1. Then again maybe he's still useless in Defenders and it was just botched casting that can't be fixed.

The show deserves a second season before we all write it off.

There is plenty of good stuff to build on.

Season one was.. Bad. Definitely the worst of the Marvel Netflix bunch.

Hopefully they can turn it around for season 2.
