The thing is they just did it with SFV and that was 16 that is now at 25 soon to be 26.

Oh, I'm sure Dormammu will feel like a whole new bag. I have a light expectation that they will at least change up his Dark Spells, since they are the most flexible aspect of his character.

I really hope they didn't planned out 2019 yet so we could try to change their minds on characters with our whining loudly noises.
Capcom pretty much has to reveal at least Firebrand and Dormammu before August 2, even if it's just a, "hey, these characters are in the game!" blog post with a screen or two.

In retrospect, MvC3 was very impressive in terms of original content developed for that game. Has the production price of that game ever been publicly released? Depending on how high the price was, Capcom may have justified funding that by fully planning to reuse those assets in the near future.

I've been fully expecting 34 characters from the very start (check my reciepts on GFAQs), but with a much better mix of new(ish) to old. I think i expected something like 10-15 new/revamped vets to about 25 MvC3 vets.
At least 30 characters, 10 of which newcomers, was what I personally wanted. Though in the end it didn't matter because the characters I want most are either guaranteed to be in or out at launch.
I mean if we are talking about copy/pasting over Marvel 3 then 50 was the minimum that people could reasonably expected where 38 would be from Marvel 3 and 12 would be brand new. This is not counting for X Men ban though.
With X Men ban I would've expected 40 characters day 1 with 30/10 old to new.
I don't have a big fixation for brand new characters as most.
Look at how Smash does it. Almost everyone from the last game + a bunch of hype newcomers.
That's satisfying to me.
Man, that was one of greatest time I had on NeoGAF. We finally got the game like after a decade and the pace of reveals and announcements were superior to MVCI. We got new information every month unlike MVCI.

When I saw the text before the gif loaded I thought I was about to see a saber-dash cancel combo. Kind of disappointed it wasn't, yet kind of relieved.
More reused animations. Good Lord, did Capcom work on anything for this game?

Since its possible that MODOK is not in the .zip files because he's in the stage files, is it possible that he could still be playable but have all his files in the stage section? I don't know how this stuff works.
I just think its really weird/sad a returning character from 3 won't be playable but will still be in the game

When it come down to Capcom games, I'm getting used to see many characters getting cut every time they made new iterations. That's their mottos with fighting games.
Ironically it's completely different when it come down to Smash Bros. RIP Snake and Ice Climbers.

Its not that he's cut, tons of characters are cut, I'm okay with that. I never really played Modok much either.
Its that he's a returning character that's supposed to be in the story mode. That just bothers me

Actually, just for fun, I'd love to see them apply some generic enemy skins to the main cast, as unusually-cheap DLC. Like dress up Strider as a Hand Ninja, make Ryu into a Generic Mad Gear Thug, dress up Captain America as that shield guy who'se in every Megaman, etc.
Would be a nice to thing to use for other modes (like maybe missions that have us fighting teams of soldiers with simple movesets liek the XGards, to get to a boss character), and could lead to a few fun throwbacks here and there.

-Not sure if possible due to hitboxes, but a Symbiote Spider-man over Venom
-Obligatory Ms. Marvel over Captain Marvel
-Classic Gamora with the hood
-SFV Battle Outfit Chun-Li (Oddly enough I feel as if this will be her Premium in MvCI)
-Streetwise Haggar
-Dominatrix Morrigan (from her VSav winpose)
-SFV Prototype Ryu
-Reboot Strider
-Midnight Bliss Jedah
-Female Kirin Armor MonHun (assuming he/she isn't already wearing such)
-Superior Spider-man over Doc Ock (if he's DLC)

Agreed though I feel space texture is overplayed.
See, this was fucking fan service right here. All of these alternate colours have different designs across the model and are not just colour swaps. I don't see them going even half as far with the references and probably doing a basic color swap. I mean, we're already down 2 default colours.
I'm a sucker for this shit. Gimme new Captain Universe while we're at it.
