Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood |OT| Y'all Need to Calm Down

I think I'm gonna level all the remaining classes I'm interested in to lvl 30 and then just purge all my low level gear. I've filled up 1.5 retainers with my garbage and I'm starting to run out of inventory space again.

I was making nearly a million gil on crafted tools a patch late in 4.5, way after the rush was over. The fact that the crafted tools now barely break 2-300k for just as much materials gathering is a shot to the gut. It's not even worth the cost in aethersand to make a crafted piece that'll sell for 200k (MAYBE) in 3-4 weeks.

I mean, I don't know if you can really directly compare these situations all that well considering the 3.4/3.5 gear was BiS until essentially level 70 and this is the intro gear. The mats for a bunch of that stuff held value most of the patch, though. And, as always, food and pots are a staple the entire patch.

Leviathan still has most of the 4.05 gear still worth about 700-800k+ so one food duration of crafting is a few million up still, usually. Most the mats are pretty easy to get in an hour window too, though I went into the patch with ~90 of all the folklore mats to try and hit the early markets hard.

Edit:

Have those actually been selling? I guess I just got crazy discouraged by having my weaving and fending sets just sit on the MB for a week getting marked down 90% of their original value.

Generally speaking, the actual crafter sets aren't worth nearly as much. Gathering ones are a better use of the mats, though not by much. I will say the prices tanked hard. Day 1 was 5-6M or so per piece to the above mentioned sub-1M stuff. Still, the mats are essentially free and outside of trying to figure out opportunity cost stuff, it's usually still fairly profitable at this point.

...you may have to babysit them all day to get them to actually move, though. Undercut hell.

4.05 gear is down to 4-500k tops on Ultros and isn't selling. Issue is less the markdown and more so the worry that it'll sit on the market permanently and generate nothing.

I mean other times I just sit and HQ out some mats, unspoiled specifically. Mindlessly mine and macro craft, make like 60k a pop on some stuff. Depends.

Like none of it is hard or takes any time. I've gone and spiritbonded some stuff too through mass quick synth but it's so boring. Making money in this game isn't hard, just boring. But when I have downtime, I just macro craft/gather unspoiled while watching something.

To be fair here, the Ultros market last I remember it was basically a shitshow. Leviathan doesn't seem to be as top heavy with the crafters D:

If all else fails, mats and taking advantage of the crafters bleeding each other dry is usually a thing.

low key constant moneymaker: HQ goods for leve turn ins and bleed crafters dry.
Never fails to sell. Ever. And yeah undercut like a motherfucker, whatever I got nothing but time.

Just the price of doing business.

This discussion is reminding me why I'll never get into crafting.

Word. It looks interesting but it seems like it's a major gil sink for not that much reward. If you want to make a baller ass house or something insanely expensive it might make sense but for someone like me who gives two shits about that stuff I'm not sure what all that gil you print at high crafter levels is even for.

Gathering takes less time and gil to set up and seems to make a more than adequate amount of money for someone looking to just have a stable income and a couple crafted PvE pieces.

Edit: plus it seems like everyone I see that gets way into it ends up spending real money on extra retainers which seems kind of silly. If you could pay your sub with Gil like you can now in WoW or EvE I could see it but just to have a billion gil sitting around? Not for me.

Leviathan has Celestial Angel, a lot of super tryhard parse padders, and those mystery people that have to be running some kind of scam that were paying ridiculous money for 10-15 IW crafter wrists a week in 3.5. Marketboards are totally a shitshow, just in the more profitable direction.

Another unsung hero of money can sometimes be stuff locked behind old master books, particularly older glamour crafts. Easy to get, easy to do, but a lot of people never bothered to go back and get the desynthesis books or whatever so sometimes those markets are alright.

Seriously, the biggest money makers are literally lazy people shit.
Also sell things at slightly below or above the qty they need. It always works.

On one hand, I want to know what shady wrist-based organization I was fueling back in 3.X.

On the other, some things are better left off unknown.

I mean, you never know they might add it! But really, it's just that I have enough money to comfortably buy a mansion whenever they get added and freely dump money into pet projects like "Well, maybe I should test SSPD myself some?" or "hey I dumped millions into pentamelding glamour gear."

O3S in pugs is brutal as hell.

yesterday i would have said you were wrong. today was "book phase" parties that couldnt do briars. today sucks.

I dont know. Cactuar, a known heavy gil buying server, has the crafted gear sitting around 4-500k, and maybe 2 are selling per day it seems.

If you had asked literally anyone they would have told you to get a party together for the final two dungeons. Randoms will not wait because of how long the cutscenes are, but thankfully they learned form that and never did it again.

It's funny that as I was reading this post while queuing for main scenario roulette, I got a party with 3 new guys in Praetorium watching the cutscenes and the tanks waited for them. First time I have ever seen a DF party willing to wait. No one asked to wait, and no one complained that we did.

Steam user here. Lost access to my square account. Dont remember either the name or the email registered to it. Support sends me automated responses. Is there any direct comunication with square where I can talk to people? I cant even buy the game again on steam.

Over the last couple days, I've been having issues with it appearing all my keypresses getting spammed, not allowing me to do anything, even log out. Has anyone else run into an issue like this? Its just in FF14, as I'm typing this as it is spasming out.

Wanna hear a good joke? Waste your time helping me! LOL!
Somehow managed to pull this off which was well above and beyond my expectations for this week. Still coming down from the nerves, the last half of that fight still spooks me.

Proceeded to get destroyed by O4S for a little while before we ended the night. O4S sounds terrifying.

I got into it a little bit during ARR, stuff is all still in the mid-50s from incidental experience. I'll get to it someday but currently there are too many battle jobs I'd like to level first.

Congratulations and my condolences to your healers (biased!); Addle will be your and their friend. I don't think the P1 DPS movement stuff should be too much suffering at least?

Pls record first transition experience for future entertainment purposes.

Thank you. Proper Addle/Apoc use along with mitigating my own damage is something I'm still trying to clean up (among other things) in 3.

It's hard though. Those abilities don't do damage!

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Stupid question, but does anybody understand how I'm supposed to read the "hooking" charts on catbecamehungry?

http://ff14angler.com/spot/100304

Im trying to read this, and I can'tr figure out what the red and green bars are supposed to mean. LT? ET?
Probably Local Time and Eorzea Time.

I don't really get the way the bar is broken up though. I suppose over the course of an hour?

I have a very random question...I tried redeeming those Amazon DLC codes, and they said they were already redeemed. But I'd never opened my email with the codes since May up until now. I was supremely confused, because without a doubt no one else has opened my email. Then someone told me that technically, anyone could have used the same code at www.ffxivredeem.com to generate themselves codes, and people could keep generating codes until 1 person actually redeemed the 3 codes, then all others would become invalid. Anyone have a clue if this is legit? That is only thing I could think of if true...

I did the same thing.

Twice.

no regrets
I don't regret either but I'm seriously putting way too much time on this game. My weekend is all XIV.

Aren't you the same guy who was complaining just a few weeks ago about being disappointed that FFXIV is nothing like some obscure late 90s free-to-play MMORPG that you used to play?
Yes. Are you going to say that the start of XIV is anything other than a shitstorm?

And Tibia is not obscure. It is iconic. Clearly you haven't experienced it.

Hey Gaf couldn't sleep and now at 3am I made the probably unwise decision to resubscribe and am now downloading the updates. I hope I haven't been kicked from the FC for inactivity cause I'm looking forward to seeing you all again.

I've got about a week to get as much done as I can before not being able to play at silly hours will scupper me again.

Last I left I was trying to finish all the coils synced before moving onto the pre heavensward content, so if anyone is willing to get me through that (or give it a really good go ad give up like we did the last time with turn 6) please let me know.

Man, I have Surecast crossed in.

SURECAST.

This tier is weird.

I don't play the PS4 version, but I don't think you're missing anything. AFAIK, Pro mode raises the resolution to 4K and lowers the frame rate a bit while the other mode keeps it at 1080p 60fps.

Thank you very much for the answer! This put me at ease.

I have another noob question. I finished ARR and am trying to organize my inventory. What do I do with i49 and lower gear that I don't need? Materia, sell to shop, or donate for seals? I'm guessing there's no point in putting any of the gear I never equipped on the market?

Was able to clear v2s tonight. Was a lot of fun. Never done Savage content at launch before, and only ever did a9s well after it came out.

Then I watched a video for v3s.

I think I need to find a static. I can't see that being PUGable anytime soon.

Is that something I might actually want?

You have Aetherial Manipualtion, so I don't know if you'd need it for the P1 thing. Mechanics-y stuff:
P1 has a knock back thing followed by a 'have everyone in the party at full HP' thing, but we can pop Surecast and ignore the knock back and just immediately AOE heal--but DO NOT cast before the knock back or it eats surcease and gg. We were getting knocked back and then melee would shoulder tackle/etc the boss and getting out of AOE range, making us run forward to start healing and then it gets kind of D:

So if you have mobility stuff you might not care, but it's A+ for healers there because seriously
White Hole is a massive troll

Stepped into O2S tonight since my group's not running again before weekly reset and it's definitely a more exciting fight than normal mode where you feel like you're falling asleep and the boss is an HP sponge.

jesus christ that raid-wide damage though. and it's only the second turn

I think I'll get into crafting at some point, but when I listen to people talk about the market and whatnot, it's really confusing. I'm not really into it to make money--I just want a house with a large plot so I can do gardening.

How is gathering? I imagine you have to pay for the top-end crafted gear, but is it easier to generate a profit? Is it mostly consistent?
