*UNMARKED SPOILERS ALL BOOKS* Game of Thrones |OT| - Season 7 - Sundays on HBO

IIRC, he asks the guy measter an he says "the dude who wrote that book died of the disease"
I would also imagine in the pristine conditions they all live in, cutting off what looks like about an inch of flesh off of about 70% of your upper body MAY just lead to an infection that kills you. Not even mentioning the agony of it all.

OK, sure. Dude died. Risk of infection is high. What does any of that have to do with the crudeness of the procedure, except to reinforce it?

"Hack that shit off and put some stuff on it." That's it? Any moron could conjure this up. Doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would require a trip to the Citadel.

I would bang a hot farmer!

You can't get the poop of many maesters to make the ointment anywhere else.

I would presume that the stuff he plans to apply to it would be what youd find in the Citadel and he went there as everyone else tells him to fuck off and go turn to stone, so I cant imagine there is a wikipage they can just pull up to give them the herbal checklist.

Also isnt part of it that you get it from contact, so I cant imagine there is a line of people wanting to the risk of hacking off the skin and getting the disease.

Finally, this is only going to really be a way for him to get back Dany in the shw and be able to swing a sword about before he goes mental from the internal side of the disease that was hinted.

The most interesting plot line related to Dorne is the one that we barely know anything of - the sand snake "playing a game" and posing as a maester-in-training at the Citadel. I want to know more about her deal and, of course, the faceless man assassin there.

Though I did like some of Dorne in the books. I like Arianne and I enjoyed some of Quentyn's travels and utter failures.

I think the Dorne storyline in the show would have worked better if they'd made 2 changes:

i. Have Arianne be the leader of the Sand Snakes instead Ellaria. I realize Indira Varma is an expensive actress but it never made sense for her character to become all bloodlusty over Oberyn's death. Would have made way more sense for Arrianne to interpret Oberyn's death as the Lannister's fault since she never saw what actually happened. And her killing Doran and taking power also makes more sense as she's actually in the line of succession.

ii. The water gardens scene. They should have choreographed it better, and shot it somewhere they would have had enough time to do it right. This was suppossed to be the scene that showed how dangerous/badss the Sand Snakes were but it fell flat.

It's weird, they make Dany completely straight in the show, while making the completely straight Asha, bisexual on the show. It's fulfilling a stereotype that "tough girls like girls" IMO.

Lesbian Yara has worked well enough for the show, despite really playing into stereotypes, but I do miss the books' aggressively heterosexual Asha. The books have a good range of femininity in them, and Asha's badass pirate but also total sucker for cute boys was a nice part of that.

That's a major part of Dany in the books that's left behind, too. Did she even bone Daario in the show, I can't remember? But her parting ways with him in the books is tough for her because she's a horndog more than Daario being some caring love interest.

Sultry Dornish princess, made that Kingsguard fall in love with her and tried to start a rebellion to put Myrcella on the throne.

Yeah, she has several PoV chapters so she's kinda hard to forget.

There are two Dornish plots (totaling 100% of the Dornish plots so far) that end with "Lol, that didn't work!" Not remembering them is understandable.

Yeah but

remember Darkstar

he was good

the show needs more Darkstar

just have him jump over Cerseis throne and behead her and then he can be like 'YOU HAVE BEEN VISITED BY THE DARKSTAR' and then he rides away

It will be glorious when, in 2025, we all open the first page of TWOW in eager anticipation, and see the first POV heading: The Night's King. Our hearts pumping with glee, we read the opening sentence, only to see "
His name was Darkstar, and he was of the night.
"

The book will never go the total good vs absolute evil route the show has gone imho.

There's a lot more to the white walkers than we know. I also doubt they'll have the same origin story.

Man, Davos' actions after S5 make no sense whatsoever. He's one of my top 10 favorite characters in the books, but he should have died with Stannis on that battlefield or died trying to save Shireen or SOMETHING. Maybe I'm projecting Book! Davos to show! Davos, but he is loyal only to the Baratheons, more specifically Stannis. Like the bromance cannot be overstated, Stannis is almost like his god, and his decision to want to resurrect Jon of all choices is...odd to say the least. I know the show draws attention to this fact, but nudging the viewer does still not at all explain his rational.

Pretty sure book Davos is just gonna follow Jon as well, but I can't wait for Davos finding some unicorns.

So this IS the actual place to talk about the books, right????

I'm itching to talk about a particular scene in the latest book...

I can't believe how big of a jobber Hotah was.

Like I was hyping him up as this cool, calm, collected giant protecting Doran.

Then...just...gone. No good scenes at all.

Agreed.

I think the books make a similar mistake with Arianne. Why is Hotah and Arys Oakhart giving the POV. It is totally out of step with the previous book where the narrative is told through singular important characters. All Dorne POVs should have been from Arianne's perspective.

I also have many issue with Doran's plan, mostly how Viserys seemed to be totally unaware of it.

Not really...

The salve that Sam has to apply to Jorah is birch, sap, olive oil, and beeswax. So I guess it's not that complicated.

Well, the hope would be that Jorah contracting greyscale will have deeper implications for his character and those around him than just giving him something to do for a season or so. But this is D&D we're talking about, so...
