Overcooked Special Edition finally hitting the Switch this week

So where do I get clean plates after putting them in sink?

press the top-most face button to start wiping them with a sponge, then they should appear on tiles to the right-hand side. You can put several dirty plates in at once provided you have space around the sink for clean plates to pile up after washing them.

Do we have any straight-up docked mode impressions, here? So far it seems like everyone is playing in tabletop / handheld mode. I have the game but can't play because I'm at work. Would love to know how it's shaping up in docked mode because I want my wife and I to play this tonight, and I want the best performance possible.

Just played docked for like an hour and a half and it works fine. Difficulty in this game ramps up pretty quick when they start mixing up the ingredients. We played 3 people trying to designate a roll for each, but it gets super hectic and the rolls go to shit half way through the level .. LOL

As much as I want to get it, I'm not buying undercooked shit (pun intended). This is ridiculous. Fix your framerate issues before releasing games. You knew what you were giving us. Make a professional first impression, and not iron out obvious problems weeks down the line after people have bought your product. For big games, I get it. This?

I played through it with my wife on PS4 already and there are some just absolutely brutal levels. It is a ton of fun but it can be extremely hectic and hard. We had some issues with
the lava levels and the damn ice levels.

The final mission of the main game is very satisfying but damn it is tough.

It doesn't feel undercooked to me. The framerate looked poor when I saw the game at a convention in May, but the final product is not only playable but much improved over that.

Having only played it docked, I don't really know what you're talking about. The game plays absolutely fine in docked mode.

Played in docked. If you have a friend to play this with, or relative, or whatever and want another one of those Switch games that's perfect for giving a JoyCon each to somoene, BUY THIS SHIT YO.

My niece and I had a blast yelling at each other. Total impulse purchase, one of the best cooperative experiences I've had. The JoyCons feel small in the hand, but the utilitarian feel of the controllers feel great. It's just so damn fun giving a controller to whomever and picking up the game relatively quickly.

Frame rate doesn't feel an even 30, but no complaints here.

Didn't make it that far, I believe we stopped at the hamburger level that you have to mix 4 ingredients. All of our strategy went to shit :(

Played the intro tutorial and the 1st level solo just to judge the framerate.

I wouldn't say the game is laggy, but it just runs at a sub-30 framerate. It is bad on the tutorial level because of the heavy effects, but improved on the 1st level.

I say buy it if you are not a framerate sensitive guy and wants a good local coop game.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
I'm gonna wait for more impressions. Not that I don't doubt the fps issue, but I'd like to hear more sources comment on this.

This is why I posted this earlier. No offense to the poster who said they had fps issues, but you gotta wait for a larger sample vs going off the initial report.

Seems like the game is fine and perfectly playable even if it has some minor dips.

So each level they mix it up on you so sometimes your strategies just are not possible but usually my wife and I would just alternate orders.

I took the first and she took the second and so on. That would normally get us by on most levels, however there are tons of levels where that isnt possible so we just had to constantly communicate about what we were doing and what each of us took care of (Chopping this lettuce! Can you grab the frying pan before we start a fire!)

The best part of the game was telling my wife to wash dishes without getting a look.

Overcooked dev response from reddit :

Hey there,
Just to provide some clarification on FPS with Overcooked.
On console (Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch) the game is set to run at 30fps. PC is a little bit different as you can enable V-Sync which mixes things up a bit.
So in a nutshell we expect Overcooked to run at a solid 30fps on Switch, we're also looking into reports of the game having instances where it isn't hitting this benchmark.
We are watching & listening, fear not and thanks all for your support.

Played up to 4th level with replays (undocked) with officemate. The framerate issue isn't that distracting. Game is in a playable state. I still wish they would patch this game though.

Perfect game for the Switch!

I still think it's a big shame that it doesn't support online multiplayer, but that blow is lessened on the Nintendo platform.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
With these kind of replies, I guess there are quite a few Switch users refusing to buy BotW.

Yeah...like 800k switch owners didnt buy it...dont know if it was because of the framerate though.

There isn't much framerate problems anymore. It was annoyin when they released it. Game was great but it definitely was a minus. I'm very sensitive to framerates.

Compared to Overcooked! (having now played a couple of hours), the framerate issues are huge in BotW.

So, just to confirm, the handheld frame rate issues are there but that have been blown out of proportion and it's actually entirely playable?

Yes, game is playable. If I can compare this to another game, framerate is similar to pre-patch Bomberman R, or the hub of Splatoon 2.

[*]You don't have to repeatedly press the chopping button or hold it down. Just press it once.

OMG.

Although I think I won’t tell my family as it seems more hectic to hammer the button like you’re chopping.

Does everyone still control the car at the same time? On PS4 my sons controller seemed to override everyone else’s and he'd delight in driving the opposite direction from the next level marker :p

Really? I saw a video of the game and there framerate was noticeable under 30 and with BotW it's very rare to see problems at all to me after patch.

Edit: I really would like to get this game and there are pretty positive things many people say about framerate, but I've been burned before after listening gaf. Lego City for example was supposed to have very little issues. Turned out it has constant issues. I'm just more sensitive than average.

I feel I'm not ready for a huge open world yet, will definitely get it eventually.

Anyway I bought this due to recommendations and didn't know about performance issues but I'm sure it won't bother me.

I just played it for four hours straight with two friends, Joycons are perfectly fine for this game. You only really use two buttons.
