Cryptocurrency |OT| Nothing from Money

Yeah it's a Mexican jumping bean right now.
Hoping DGB grows later this month, it's still stagnant at just under 2 cents. Wish I bought in when it was 0.0003 cents.

What's the deal with DGB? A lot of people say it's a pump and dump since they falsely advertised minecraft was supporting it but it turned out to be only a private minecraft server or something like that, not sure on the details...

I have like 100$ on it but the price has been stable for a long time now.

I just spit all over myself. I was predicting 12$ a few days ago. It's almost 20$ now...When will this ride stop? I'm getting scared but then I remember ETH going to triple digits in a month and fucking hope NEO gets there too.

Yeah, I had no real clue about Antshares until May. I wish I bought into it in April when it was just around 20 cents. :(

I meant to buy more ANS when it dipped to $3 a few weeks ago. Got sidetracked and forgot about it. Oh well.

Neo has been one wild ride. I bought way back at $4.50 during the crash to $7 range, and have also bought all the way up this ride. I have some really nice profits going right now and part of me wants to sell to wait for a dip to buy back in and add more to my portfolio, but I worry I do that and it just goes higher. LOL! This is due for a correction here at some point, but the questions is when.

I strongly believe in this project so I am in it for the long term, but I don't think it would hurt to try and cash out at some point to buy back in like I have with Eth making a few extra bucks.

I also bought $100 in DGB the week before and I already have $20 in profit, but I almost feel like there is so much supply out there of this coin that it could possibly just be sitting in this sport forever.

I was thinking of selling my DGB to get more SIGT since it's rising pretty well. Still on the fence about it.

It might not be a bad idea. I honestly have no clue with DGB if it is ever going to even get to a $.1. I guess if you don't need the $100, it doesn't hurt to leave it there for a bit longer. Figure, maybe it gets to .1 or .2 in 6 months and you have made a decent killing at that point based on what we bought in at.

For example, I only put $100 down on BAT, right now I've tripled my money which is not bad. While I feel BAT could be a project that may or may not take off, the team is solid and this has to get to a few bucks in the next year.

Yeah, you're right. I don't really need those 100$ so I might as well leave them there and forget about them. See where we are in a few months.

I'll just buy more SIGT with fiat. If it ever gets to 1$ or 2$ I'll have a decent return for a very low initial investment.

Can someone explain the NEO/GAS bit to me?

From what I understand I need to let it sit in a special wallet or something and it produces GAS which is almost like an interest gained?

I'm super confused, any recommendations/explanations would be greatly appreciated.

Currently have 24 NEO (luckly bought in at $6.33/per)

GAS is what's going to be used on the NEO network (to pay for services ou activate contracts for example). NEO produces GAS but for you to have access to your NEO generated GAS, you have to put your NEO in a wallet.

After having your NEO in a wallet, you need to send your NEO to yourself and that will make it possible for you to claim your GAS. Your GAS and NEO will both be stored in your wallet.

If you leave your NEO on an exchange, they get your GAS so that's the reason you should use a wallet for NEO.

So holding my NEO on Bittrex is useless then. Is there a go to place to hold NEO currently?

The Binance exchange will give you gas; it's the only exchange to do so at the moment as far as I know.

Probably a better idea to move your NEO to a wallet. I hear good things about the CoZ Neon Light Wallet (one-click method to claim gas, especially) but it's not officially supported by the NEO devs (yet).

There might be a new version of the official wallet this week, though?

Has anyone used the Abra app? Saw it featured on the front page of the app store

That app actually sounds pretty good.

Filecoin ICO delayed for 3 days. People not happy but also because how the whole sale is structured overall (or not strucured...)

Thank goodness I got my issues with Bittrex sorted.

Strat and XEM seem to be doing well now, big volume increases

Don, I still wish I would have have kept my Strat but I had bought that early in July and freaked out when it dropped big time. Stupid panic sell.

NEO just hit $20. An analyst on twitter today is predicting a $30 price by the end of the week, and that the support for it is already there. Quite interesting if true. I am hoping for a slight pull back though, I want to toss another $1K into it.

Looking to invest in some XEM. Any take on why it's rising so fast?
Honestly, I don't have much of a clue. A lot of these seem to do variations of the same thing. And what if I sell my DGB now for XEM, only for XEM to stagnate and DGB suddenly start rising?

I hate to always be a downer on NEO, but I think this pump is not reasonably justifiable. What actual uses of NEO exist? Can you use the tokens for anything at all yet? Vague associations with other companies are not enough to support a big market cap. Very good chance this pulls back under $10 whenever Bitcoin corrects, or the hype cools down. Ultimately, substance is needed to maintain a run like it has had. It might still pump some more but be careful with this one.

Play with money you're willing to lose ;)

This is all a gamble. It's volatile and fluctuates week to week. The benefit to that is there's opportunity, the downside is you could easily lose it all.

I wish DGB got more exposure. Its advantages over Bitcoin need to be trumpeted.
I think at least $1-2 within the next couple years is doable, factoring in its 1000:1 ratio to BTC.

No worries man, we all have our opinions and NEO hasn't done really anything yet but the same can be said for a shit load of these coins in the top 20 that have sizeable market caps. So much money being pumped into the alts is crazy.

I do see NEO climbing very fast, which worries me a bit but I've been in this from the $6 range initially and all the way to $4.50. A correction is imminent which I think could come around $13-14 mark.

Hoping this run isn't pump and dump.

Good article about Siacoin / the devs which shows why you should not expect the moon with Sia...

https://www.bostonglobe.com/business/2017/08/07/sia/sUZ0p3EEAsgVuL2aGCeqEJ/story.html

Good article but a peculiar situation. They don't really care about the price of their coins and neither do the people that simply wish to use their platform.

At the same time there are people holding a bunch of coins hoping they will rise (i hold some myself).

Any reason that the coin won't find something like a middle ground?

What do you think the price of the coin could reach in a couple of years as their platform matures?

I would be more than happy if it ever reaches something close to 0,25 or even 0,5 € / $ per coin. Have around 30.000 SIA.

If it stays a good tech and people use it more and more, the price is going to climb no matter what. Just maybe not to the "i want to get filthy rich" highs some want / expect, since it's still tied to the ecosystem.

I was hoping for €2 but even at 0.50 or 0.25 there is some good money to be made depending on how many coins you have.

Just sent 250 euros to my Kraken accout. Let's see how long till the money shows up in the website. In the meantime Im gonna read more about the cryptocurrencies, specially the smaller ones to determine which ones I should get - futurology exercise. I am planning on having a little bit of BTC, ETH and probably 2 more currencies. If everything goes well I will send some more money over time.

made a bit of a fumble and lost around 10% of my ARK yesterday. i guess daytrading isnt for me...
it seems that the new STRAT wallet with tumblebit integration will launch really soon.

im a bit concerned because the price increase in all the alts is mainly fueled by the BTC price increase.

Posted a few times here but i found this site helpful to get an overview: https://dontpanicsell.com/
great, thanks for the link. I am finishing listening to a podcast (?) someone posted on the very first page which cover the general idea (most of it I already knew, but its good to remember). Will read about a few crypto to make a better thought buying decision. I wish the market would crash now so that I could come in when its low next week :p

I had concerns about sending money to a crypto exchange. I researched the histories of all the exchanges and eventually settled on a few that seemed most reputable: GDAX, Gemini, and Kraken. I essentially went with the one that verified me first amongst those 3. Then I transferred a smaller amount of money initially to get comfortable with the process, and followed it up a few weeks later with more. Unfortunately the price of ETH moved up significantly between those two dates. Had I just put everything in at once I would have had at least twice as much ETH as I currently do. Your results may vary.

Sending money to a crypto exchange initially does require a major leap of faith. Once crypto can be more easily purchased through any broker, I expect the entire crypto market cap to explode.

Nah I hold no BTC.

ARK, Waves, Wings, STRAT and ANS.

Just hold your ARK. A lot of stuff about to hit the testnet, which means a lot of stuff will be releasing soon. Wouldn't fret about ARK. :)

When the BTC pump finishes and stagnates a lot of that money will filter down into alts. It's just that BTC is hot right now with the segwit lock.

Had ARK and STRAT but switched that to more NEO and other coins but planed to rebuy for cheap after the big fork crash...which then never came....

Just my my last fiat investment of the year (I hope). Got more ARK and SIGT. My average is still well below the current price so I'm waiting for the long ride now.

Hope I'll have a nice return by the end of the year and more still throughout 2018.

What do you like better, ARK or Wings? Thinking about trading my SIA in for one of those.

Ark definitely. I think what they are doing could be quite revolutionary.

Someone asked me if I thought ARK was a good investment, and this was my response....

Ark is a good investment for the vision.

Eventually they will create an entire ecosystem which allows anyone to easily create, customise and deploy their own blockchain with the click of a button. All the blockchains within the ARK ecosystem will be connected via Smartbridge. They'd also have the option of using Ark to buy Eth tokens with the use of ACES (many more tokens to come too).

The way I view blockchains at this moment in time is very similar to how the "internet" or rather "intranet" systems were in the 1970's. Isolated networks. TCP/IP came along and connected all the intranets together and eventually created the internet as we know it. Well ARK is trying to connect all blockchains together, we probably don't even appreciate or understand the true potential of what that will bring (I'm guessing not many people in the 70's had any idea what TCP/IP was going to achieve). But that is ARK's goal. And as far as I understand, they are way ahead of any opposition.

$5 is a complete understatement for this coin.
