I've never played any of their games or just don't care for them, only played this because it's about psychosis and have been impressed so far. Other than an obscure indie game like Auti-Sim, I haven't come across a videogame trying to simulate a mental illness through audio in such an enveloping manner. For that experience alone, it's worth playing. Since there's no HUD or button prompts, the voices are basically your guide. If there's an enemy about to attack you from behind, they'll tell you. If you're stuck on a visual illusion puzzle, they'll guide you to follow a song or where all the rune markers are. When you're about to die, they'll tell you to get up. It is amazing, frankly.
Wait, the game hasOne thing I am disappointed with is the live action stuff. From the dev diary where they showed some of the scenes, I thought they'd be alright and the scenes with that one character (can't remember his name but he's the dude who shows up in the) are but most of the others (especially the stuff withfire areasbut also some of the stuff withher dead lover) just don't blend in well enough with the game assets. You can clearly see that it's live action footage and it totally takes me out of the experience which is a bit of a shame.her mother
Oh and the bit I'm currently at is super frustrating. I keep dying over and over again because it's a timed sequence but the only way to figure out where I'm supposed to go is trial and error and I can't even really see where I'm going so it's not like I can just map out the area and then remember where I need to go the next time around which makes it all the more annoying. I get that it's probably meant to be frustrating but I feel like they took it a bit too far with this one section.
All in all I'm enjoying it, though. Good writing, interesting characters and backstory, gorgeous graphics, great atmosphere, the combat is fun for the most part and most of the puzzles aren't too bad either.
EDIT: Oh and one minor nitpick would be that I'm not a huge fan of the movement mechanics with the weird strafing stuff. I mean, it's not a big deal and it works perfectly well controls-wise but some of the movements it results in just feel a bit unnatural at times and can look a bit weird. But like I said, this isn't a big deal, just my personal preference.
Someone posted about a problem with wireles XO Controller on PC a few pages back.. right stick not working. I'm having the same issue, so you're not alone, buddy.
I'm gonna try a wireless 360 pad next and then a DS4. Hope one of them works.. I'm playing on my 4K TV so mouse & keys are not an option. Game looks good. Got it to run at `almost` 60 FPS on i7-7700 + GTX 1080 (no OC).
All I can say is that the use of binaural audio is incredible here. Corpse Party used it in a few instances but it's a rather rare thing to see in games. It's perfect here and makes for a more terrifying experience. Very well done.
Can you use any regular pair of headphones or do you need like 5.1 surround sound headphones (that I don't have)
I've not picked this up yet due to "other games" but I am such a fan of binaural audio, it's been around for absolutely years but Lou Reed was my first experience of it and I think it could be so important for games. All I can say is that the use of binaural audio is incredible here. Embarassing non-spoiler in spoiler tags:I confused Ninja Theory and Team Ninja in the leadup to this game.
Whats worse is its blurrier when you start moving, add 60fps to the mix and you have instant vomit inducing shit.
Funny thing is I know there are people playing it in this mode because of 60fps, and fucking horrible.
it looks terrible and feels terrible to play too.
I know why I think she's gormless looking, shes always looking upwards [them eyes do not move from that position] with her mouth open and theres no other expressions
But don't get wrong I know I sound negative, but I am enjoying the game so far lol.
Beat Valravn and Surt, great fights!
60 FPS mode looks very blurry, is this normal ?
Anyone else really liking the combat?
Yes, unfortunately. It's not 1080p, check also ign comparison video to confirm.
Looks like it's 900p or lower. Still worth it in my opinion for the improved frame rate.

I feel the exact same way, especially given how the moveset can combine with the counter to be really satisfying. It feels really good. Moveset is basic but the fights are tense and weighty
You know you can do sprint attacks too?It feels really good. Moveset is basic but the fights are tense and weighty
Yep. There was a fight on a bridge in some dynamic lighting that was awesome with the sprint attacks. You know you can do sprint attacks too?
The game is so, so good and lived up to its expectation for sure. Nearly finished now but I've had a blast with it.
Not a fan of Senua, she looks fine in the artwork but in game she's probably the most gormless looking character I've ever played.
Had no problem with motion blur personally. There's a strange stutter on the 30fps version I don't like, while 60fps is pretty much rock solid and that's why I prefer it.I dont agree personally. The lower resolution stood out a lot for me, the motion blur in particular was really bad at the lower res.
You have to use third party software like FRAPS, Afterburner, Nvidia Share and the like to take the screenshot. You can also use Nvidia's Ansel (ALT+F2).Can someone tell me how to use the photo mode on the PC? I press down, and the filters and all come up, but how does one actually take a snap?

I've done two of the trials so far and those are great. Super tense even without combat.Ok I know it was said earlier that this isn't a scary game, but a couple of the trials like the complete darkness and swamp sent chills down my spine.

Well, I got to a door where I have to find a N and Y-like letter. But after dealing with the enemies I'm trapped and cannot leave that small area infront of the door which I cannot open before I find these signs that are probably to be found somewhere else I cannot get to. I literally searched for 30 minutes in that tiny area before I came to conclusion there was something wrong.
I guess the photo mode may brake things in specific situations.
Maybe a reload will fix it, but it's late and I try tomorrow.
Thanks, I'll try that out by tomorrow. Sterling's bug really made be paranoid. I had similiar experiences in P&C adventures and it really takes out the fun because I think it's a bug everytime I stuck for more than a couple of minutes. It's there...
Me, too, since I think that's the difficulty that is meant to be played at by the developers. What difficulty is everyone playing on? I have it set to Auto.
Regarding my earlier issue with Nvidia's DSR and not being able to play at 4k:Doesn't work for me either. I can apply 4k but the game's not actually rendering in 4k. Using fullscreen of course.
