This is pretty much
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
The Game when you go
focus mode
in combat.

So I'm trying to figure out how to set up my headphones for proper binaural audio. Right now I'm using a Sennheiser 363d headset so its got the Dolby Headphone function turned on. In my playback devices configuration it's set up as a 7.1 device and the dolby headphone feature is switched on. Do I need to turn that stuff off and set it to stereo or will the effect still work?

After texting my friend back and forth who's currently playing the game and based on what he's told me, I just purchased a $50 PSN digital download card from Best Buy (I have a ton of gift cards) and will buy the game tonight or tomorrow. Just hoping that Best Buy doesn't cancel my order which for some odd reason, they have a habit of doing when it comes to PSN/XBL digital download currency purchases.

I loved Enslaved and Badass made me remember Eternal Darkness from the other Hellblade topic so I have to give this game a shot. Ninja Theory is basically taking a huge risk and I must admit that whether or not I end up liking the game, I want this concept to succeed.

All in baby!!!

I would recommend turning it off. Just use pure stereo.

Just stopping in this thread to say this game is fucking radical. Been looking forward to it since they announced it and really happy with the product we got.

I also want a Senua's action figure/statue. Love her design.

This game has been something else. Aside from the story and portrayal of Mental Illness, the art direction and and general art style is just impeccable. I don't want to turn this into fanboy wars but I'd like to hear the thoughts/comparisons with Senua and Alloy as far as their asthetic designs.

Wow. I'm just a little ways in. But thus far ... No distracting HUD. No boring tutorial. Plot and atmosphere that you just kind of have to go with, but that work pretty darn well when you do. Crunchy combat. Interesting puzzles.

I really like this, and I would totally spend $30 to play other games that are similarly brave about making interesting choices, and cutting out distractions. Here's hoping this starts a trend :)

Ok guys, so far I'm at the
3rd trial to get the Odin sword
.

How much into the game am I? I gather around half, maybe a bit more?

Also the use of audio in Hellblade is hand down the best audio ever in a videogame, imo.

And the atmosphere...ungh, perfect!

This game was not on my radar at all, but the positive reviews, subject matter, and word-of-mouth in this thread convinced me to pick it.

'Wow' is all I can say after an hour. I'm hooked. It looks great, sounds great, and just feels unique. I wish there were more games like this.

This game is fucking amazing.

It's very, very rare you see such a strong artistic vision come to life in such a complete way. You really notice that there's no publisher and no outside force compromising anything - this is a piece of art a group of people felt very passionate about. That's it. And boy, does it show.

Amazing work, NT.

Audio design is great. On the second boss and this game has already creeped me out in several ways not unlike a horror game would. All thanks to the audio.

I kind of dig the combat too as simplistic as it is, Senua's got some nice animations to go along with it.

I think they could have dropped the environment puzzles altogether. Maybe they get better further in but right now they just slow down the game way too much. Wouldn't have minded using the environments as more of a breather from combat and not a game of hide and seek for the hidden sign.

Just played the first 40 minutes and all I can say is wow. I'm not gonna make any hyperbolic claims about how great this game is cause everyone will have their own opinions but I'm sure it will elicit some strong responses out of many. The audio is just perfection. The presentation is fantastic and unlike anything I've played before. This game is all about atmosphere and just letting yourself get immersed. If you don't have the time to just fully go in don't bother. The beginning is slow from a gameplay perspective but it just builds an amazing world right off the start. Really digging this so far.

How is the game on PC should i buy this for PC or Pro?I have GTX1080 and i want to use my Xbox One controller.

OC'd 6600k & 970 here, graphics settings defaulted to Very High (which is maximum). Played until I finished the first combat encounter. Looks great, 60FPS locked. Bluetooth XBO controller works perfect. You'll do just fine I'm sure.

Only stopped because kids are awake and it ain't dark yet! Audio seems to be a large part of the presentation too, I recommend headphones or 5.1/7.1 played loud!

Hmm might try this out but the save erase "feature" doesn't make me want to :/
It's a non-issue, honestly. You'll have to die a hell of a lot of times for it to kick in. Like, an unreal amount of times. Don't let it deter you from playing this amazing game.

Finally beat it. One of the best games this year without question. I didn't want it to end and I wish there was more of it.

This bodes well for the Madden league!

They are both viking women with viking-ish hair and clothing, that's it.

Man, this game is intense. Just the gloomy atmosphere, fucking PHENOMENAL graphics, excellent sound design, the constant chatter of the voices (with headphones, of course)... color me impressed.

I'm not too worried about the permadeath at this point. I'm playing on Normal, and the combat so far (still early) seems pretty easy. Bosses aside, I guess it gets harder the further you go?

Excellent experience so far.

So I finished this just a short while ago. Took me about 7-8 hours to complete. Overall impressions are positive. Combat is surprisingly a strength to the game even though the previews made it seem like a negative. Puzzle solving was disappointing. Almost every single puzzle has you do the exact same thing, and the rest of the game is just a hallway simulator with well-acted cut-scenes and great sound design. Won't see the hallway design as too much of a negative however considering this is a $30 game. Story, as I said, is well-acted, but....uhhhhh.....I really don't have much to say about this yet considering most people are still playing the game.

Post-processing effects are a bit too much though, even makes 1440p look less sharp than otherwise. I get where they were going with these effects, but towards the end of the game they become an outright headache. Which, again, I get what they were aiming for, but still.

I'm just coming off playing Yakuza 0, so this is very different. With Yakuza, I'd sit down and just enjoy myself, beat up some clowns, watch the drama, and have some laughs. With Hellblade, it's more like I have to take a deep breath before submerging myself. It's more work. I can't just kick back, relax, and have fun. It's not a pleasant experience. It is an interesting and immersive one, though.

holy shit this game is incredible. My jaw was on the floor at the beginning with the whispers in your ears. MUST PLAY THIS WITH HEADPHONES.

The atmosphere is amazing. This is art not bound by focus groups and microtransactions. I am enthralled!

So I just beat the
first trial- the fire god - Sut?
and holy shit this game is intense and spooky as fuck. Like my heart is pounding right now. Just...wow. The atmosphere is insane....

I have to take a break.

You mean, she look like a real human being and not a model?

Full disclosure I'm a guy etc etc

Senua's character needs to be highlighted because of how accurately she is modeled and animated. Please don't kill me, but Senua seems like (at least one of) the most accurate representation of a female model in videogames right now.

How many boss battles in this? Also, anyone on here pick up this and lawbreakers? Hesitant to grab lawbreakers with destiny 2 looming, but both look pretty cool.

Senua is far more realistic than Aloy IMO. Aloy is great, but she very much looks like someone from Horizon's "universe." Senua seems much more detailed to be lifelike from what I've played.

Also, this game makes the hair on my neck stand on end with the voices using headphones. It's possibly scarier than RE7 right now.

This should reduce film grain and eliminate CA.

Also, at 1080p it eliminates it, but the screen is still a little fuzzy from the AA solution implemented on Very High settings.

Son of a Bitch, I hate my internet. I started downloading last night and am still only halfway done 24 hours later. This is why I wanted a retail release!

I have to echo the praise this game is getting. About an hour in and it's great! Tried it with headphones and the voices are everywhere

I'm having trouble understanding the game's language. I'm struggling with the puzzle bits. I'm doing lots of head-scratching and backtracking. I'm still early on (maybe 90 minutes in?), so maybe I'll get the hang of it as we go on, but at the moment I'm starting to dread these visual puzzles. Either I'm just not very good at this type of puzzle solving, or I'm having trouble understanding what the game is trying to tell me (re. where to go, what to do). I fumble and stumble to the solution, but it seems more frustrating than it should be.
