Android |OT8| ConFuchsia say beta is better

I can't wait for the v30. The v20 was one of the best phone I've ever had....no issues at all but some horrible screen retention.

I swore off Sony phones due to garbage built quality. But stupid me impulse bought the xz premium... And I was hugely surprise! It's the best built phone I've ever had!! Not a single gap, no body miss alignment..it's perfect!

Garbage camera still though.
Average battery.
Sound is weak.
4K screen is way better than the z5 premium.
Ui is old Sony.
Finger print scanner is crazy fast.
But everything is super fast.

Won't buy another phone without notification led. Unfortunately V30 most likely won't have it and since the Pixel XL 2 is made by LG, I assume it won't either.

@Jeffrey the HTC ui is ugly, but not laggy. It's actually one of the least bloated oem skins. There is alot of htc bloatware on the phone though, which I didn't like.

I wish everyone just copied how Moto handles notifications when the screen if off. Their implementation is brilliant. I don't need AOD

I factory reset my phone yesterday and when restoring my stuff, it fails. I check the backup settings and it says the backup is "disabled by an admin". What. Anyone know how to fix this? I did some researching and said my account is a GSuite account which is definitely isn't.

I don't want to factory reset this again.

Think the essentials approach to the top looks better. But I assume Apple needs all that space for their iris scanner thing.

http://m.gsmarena.com/sharp_announces_the_fullscreen_aquos_s2_in_beijing-news-26643.php

Sharp reveals their bezeless phone. Looks... Bad. Like a knockoff iPhone 8 lol.

Form factors does seem kinda like what a bezel less one plus could look like.

But those camera layout is so ugly.
Huh ?
Why not put the front camera on the bottom? You got this big hole in the middle of the top of the screen.
Some reviewers complained about unflattering selfies angles (shooting up your nose hairs) when Xiaomi put the front camera at the bottom last year...
You have to put a hole at the top for the earpiece anyway.
They could use bone conduction for the earpiece.

Gsmarena:
The diagonal of the screen is 5.5 inches and it has an astound 4K resolution...

The Sharp Aquos S2 is the first phone with the new chipset Snapdragon 630...

There is also a mightier version with Snapdragon 660. The difference between them is the memory and pricing...

The phone will be sold for CNY2,499 or CNY2,799 (around $370 or $420), based on chipset and memory versions.

Engadget:
5.5-inch panel with a slightly lower 2,040 x 1,080 resolution... the corners at the top appear to be hastily trimmed, which is a bit of a letdown

Which is it?
A 1080p bezelless Android screen is great for the price (especially considering Apple will be selling a 1080p 7S+ for $770 next month)

A 4K bezelless Nougat phone for $370 would be outstanding/market breaking...

So I'm thinking on getting a Pixel 2 XL as my next phone. A friend told me he sticks to iPhone because they are always fast and android starts off good and then slows down.

Now, I know that's true for android. They start great and then a year later it starts slowing down, 2 years down they slow down and stutter a lot and crashes become more common. Anecdotal but it's happened with all my Android phones.

I don't remember if iPhone actually stays fast, it's been too long. Is there any truth to this?

Pure Android phones don't slow down. Stuff with horrible skins like TouchWiz do.

What? Iphone slows down too. Everything does.

Typically it's the 2nd major update that hits performance. Makes you wanna upgrade to new phone xD

Good luck finding an Android phone that receives two major updates though.

Edit: wait, my phone will receive O.

At this point who really cares. Android O just adds stuff other oem has added in their skin years ago lol. As long as security updates still happen its OK.

Hey at least this might mean Xperia stuff fingerprint sensor should work in the US!

Also their side sensor is pretty finicky. Any slight dirt or water will cause the authentication to fail.

I have a Nexus 6 and it has definitely gotten slower.

You can probably reboot to recovery and clear the cache and have it running better. I have a OnePlus one and notice no deterioration in performance. I clear cache frequently though since I do it once a week when I update lineage os. Obviously if you are running new games that are resource hogs though on old hardware it won't run as well though.

I don't play any games.

So I should clear my cache weekly?

I did a factory reset not too long ago and the game ran perfectly for a little while and then it slowed down again.

You don't play games, but your game slowed down🤔
Wut?

My phone has slowed down. I don't play any mobile games.

I wiped the cache partition. Let's see how it performs now.

Edit oh I see, must have been autocorrect or something. I meant my phone, not game.

Whenever Sony decides to get on board with the bezeless design, I'm sure the Xperia line will look good.

Might not be the flagship, it doesn't have the triple image sensor. Probably a mid teir, the X1? Getting fingerprint sensor at the back because the side bezels (like on the XA series) are too small to put the sensor on the power button. edit: ya the selfie cam looks large, definitely the mid tier (X1). Also looks like there's 2 different devices from the pictures.

Sensor works fine when my finger's a bit wet. Thought you didn't flash the international firmware? Didn't you returned your phone like 2 days later?

XZ premium yeah. I've used Xperia in the past when I was in China for a bit.

Is that Xperia leak even legit? Why would sony abandon their signature nav buttons for pixel exclusive nav buttons?

My iPhone 7 is still as blazing fast as the day I got it. I've had minor issues rarely due to iOS bugs but nothing major. It's far better than any Android phone I owned including the few Nexus devices. Can't compare to the Pixel since I never got one.

Ah ok lol. You should clear cache every so often. Maybe once a month. Performance shouldn't degrade otherwise for every day tasks from what it was.

The fingerprint sensors in the X series is better than the Z5

My Moto X Pure has the funny half display is fucked issue and is out of warranty.
I don't need much more phone than this offers me, but fingerprint would be nice.

  • Budget: Up to ~$580 (S8 price)
  • Battery life and ability to flash/root/be close to stock android is ideal.
  • Screen should be at least 5.2". 5.7-5.9" is better.
  • Dual sim a plus (can both of these be active at the same time? I'm not 100% sure how this would work for business/personal)

I was considering either another Moto X Pure ($300), OnePlus 3T, The OnePlus 5 (I think I'd be okay with the 'jelly', or the Samsung S8 ($100 more than OP5, but better camera from what I saw on that fancy camera review site, but full of Samsung bloat crap).
Is there something else I should consider and that is easily available?

TIA.

Thanks, I looked into it a bit more, the 3 is dual standby (all you can expect in that price range) and has some limitations (like a call will not go through at all if you're on the other SIM). Probably won't bother with it since I'm not looking at a battery draining dual active phone either.

Aren't Dual active phones rare?

Yeah I've never cleared the cache like this before. It's running perfect now. Might not upgrade if I can keep it running like this.

Went with an Amazon Warehouse S8 because of the one day shipping and I need something. Fingers crossed it is actually new. I'm sure I'll have fun disabling all the bloat, but I want a waterproof phone. Hopefully the 4GB of RAM lasts.

Tempted to get the S8 Active from Samsung. They are already "discounting" it to 699 instead of 849 at AT&T (f that).

A family member who has given me good deals on stuff wants to buy my S8 Plus. Tempted really, I'd prefer a phone that can have a tempered glass screen protector, as well as the bigger battery since I do use it at work. Gravel gives 0 fucks about the Infinity Display and curved screen.

Nice, yeah that phone is still good for most every day tasks and most games. Only think you miss is a fingerprint scanner and band 12 support if you are on T-Mobile. Otherwise an upgrade won't be that big to you. I keep going back to a OnePlus One and I've owned all the big phones. Hard to justify a purchase when my OnePlus One does 90% of what the new phones do. I even got rid of a oneplus one and bought another one because I missed it too much.
