This. The game is free associable with poor quality at this point with the meming and people have never been so vengeful at Capcom as they are now because of SFV even though this is a direct response to the criticisms of SFV in a lot of ways.
I really have no idea if it will do better or worse than SFV. The game is perceived better in some ways, but negatively in many that matter more. There's a much stronger hate or narrative against this game and I think that's the closest thing to judge performance on. The hardcore minion base isn't as wild, openly excited about this game either.
Unless you're an early access game (insert MvC:I joke here) or like Minecraft, every game is like this. I just mean if the launch number is significantly pathetic, then the word of mouth sales afterwards likely will be proportionate to the launch numbers. Not many retail games get a dramatic second wind if their launch flubbed.
