Echoing this. If you want it, snag it quick. If not, speculators/scalpers will make sure it is hard to find. Heck, we already have posters in here talking about buying it just to sell again.Word of warning, if you really want this set you probably want to get it the minute it goes up on their site or be there in line early if you have a Lego store nearby. Even with the price tag this is an insanely hyped set and Lego hasn't met demand on sets before. Most recently the Saturn V rocket. The UCS Tumbler sold out and wasn't available through the holidays or even a couple months after the holidays.
Obligatory UCS Jar Jar Binks post.
I'm probably not going to buy this simply because I have nowhere to display it.
And they just redid the Death Star, so it's not that. It's the falcon, or the death star.
Its going to end up to be the Sistine Chapel complete with a full ceiling.
Stage one of Trump's great wall.
It's kind of a terrible tragedy, to be making something as inherently whimsical as Lego out of.I hope it's a Lego Titanic. I have no idea why there is not one to begin with.
I hope that instead of being larger than the old UCS falcon, it's about the same size, but with an interior.
Edit:
There better not be one sticker in this set...
Underrated post. Very funny stuff.
Stickered ceiling

There was one dude who made a gigantic sinking Titanic Lego model for a show, and it had little guy flying out overboard. He posed in front of it, laughing with thumbs up, lol. It was kind of distasteful IMO.

Wait...What's wrong with this picture? The guy is posing in front of a fucking incredible MOC and is proud of it? I can't imagine that he went in saying, "Tragedy is hilarious and people dying makes me laugh. Take my pic! #titanic #loltragedy"
Also, new UCS for $700 is awesome, but I will not be able to splurge on that right now.
What's the difference between a Titanic MOC and, say, a 9/11 MOC? Tons of people dying... not really something to be celebrated. The model is stunning, but the levity is questionable.
On topic, I still don't have space in my house for this monstrosity.
For anyone interested in this as an investment - please note that sets from 2007-2009 largely skyrocketed in value because Lego wasn't as huge back then. There wasn't a big scalper market speculating, so there weren't as many sets on the market, thus the prices soared.
Now, this set will probably stick around for 4-5 years, and people will hoard it like crazy. It will definitely go up in price after it has been discontinued, but I wouldn't say it's a good idea to store a bunch of these waiting for a big cheque.
There will most likely be a rush to get it this Christmas though, so if you feel like being a scalper, there you go.
I would be VERY surprised if this ever reached $3000.

All the controversy in here reminds me of the Lego concentration camp sets.
Done as an art project. Lego donated the pieces but had no idea the end result was going to be a controversial piece with their company being a big part of it. The artist designed a series of sets around the theme and made boxes and everything that look straight out of Lego. I think it is really thought provoking.
