Well I started this back up today, beat Rom and then farmed blood vials. Here are my current stats right after:

My weapon of choice has been the rifle spear. mainly because I was following EpicNameBro's walk throughs and that's what he was using. I like it, has great range but it has been a little difficult to use on certain bosses. Seeing how many echoes I have along with my current build, is there another weapon I could buy right now that is a good bit better? Granted I have not upgraded any of my stats since defeating Rom.

Fuck me. Laurence on NG +2 is a nightmare. I'm level 181 and I haven't even gotten him to his crawling phase. Died probably 20 times today alone.

He wouldn't be nearly as much of a problem if his damn swings didn't essentially instakill me. I try to get behind him but his swing arc is soooo damn long that I still get swiped.

I'm probably in the minority but being high level with great bloodgems makes him such a piece of cake even on ng+7, I love it when I can beat on him like a bully..

Lol, I'm considering leveling up to around 200 before taking him on again. Hopefully that will make it a bit easier. Or at least help me not get instakilled by his swipes.

The optional areas are easy to find but you have to actually explore and enjoy the game. If you are trying to finish the game as fast as possible to play other game then you will miss some areas.

There are two areas well hidden , one on the forbidden woods and another on the Oeadon ward tower. The one in the tower have two hidden areas actually

If you don't have a guide is possible to miss at least one boss permanently for that game. You'd need to either start a new character, or play through NG+ and not skip specific items. It's possible to get the hints you need in game but it's also possible you do things in the wrong order (like me) and miss something you can't get after certain events trigger.
Missable Areas I know of (I don't think any of these are permanently locked out though, one might be):
Upper Cathedral Ward
Nightmare Frontier
Iosefka's Clinic
Castle Cainhurst

Missable Bosses you CAN be locked out of at least one of these, there may be more but this is off the top of my head.
Celestial Emissary
Ebrietas Daughter of the Cosmos
Darkbeast Paarl
Amygdala
Martyr Logarius
Gehrman, The First Hunter
Moon Presence
All Chalice dungeon bosses

Here's the thing, for one boss you need
3 "Third of Umbilical"
items, as I note above there are
4
in the game and
2
are missable. I missed
both
so I can't fight
Moon Presence
this NG cycle.

Thanks alot! I already have on of those items, going to guide a bit so that i wont miss that boss. Im all about going into these games blind, but hate that i can be locked out of bosses and areas sometimes when you do it that way.

God dammit I accidentally killed the spider NPC in lecture building. From Software baited me hard.

Also, I just got to the upper cathedral ward and its fucking stunning how this game continues to surprise and wonder. The atmosphere in this level especially is off the charts. Really amazing stuff.

I understand who PVP and Summoning is locked behind PS+, but not being able to get notes and bloodstains is stupid af

I started this last night and played for four hours and got past the Blood Starved Beast which felt very good tbh

This is some serious bullshit yeah. I only got my first PS+ subscription about a week ago to play Bloodborne, and kinda want to rush through it so i wont have to renew. No interest in anything except notes/bloodstains and other potential singleplayer secrets in Bloodborne, as i dont play online or care about loaning their games.

Hey so I'm running through again this time intending to fight the
Moon Presence
and I'm right before the
Rom
fight. Is there anything I need to do now before that fight? Alternatively a link pointing out all the stuff you can do before that fight will help.

Daaamn ...

Put some Bloodtinge gems on the Chikage and enjoy the destruction :)

Physical gems are better and easier to get outside chalice dungeons.

Is Iosefka still alive? Have you saved Arianna? Those are the two things you need to worry about.

I have some Bloodtinge gems but I can't seem use them on the sword, there isn't a slot for them.

I've just about wrapped up the main game except for the last couple bosses, I've got the DLC to play through and the chalice dungeons which I have no idea how to use right now. Going to start the DLC first though.

Gem slots only get unlocked as the weapon gets upgraded. So a certain level of upgrade unlocks the first slot, more upgrades unlock the second, and so on.

I played Bloodborne offline because I didn't have a PSN subscription, so I had no note guidance. Ate lots of traps, got lost everywhere, and so on.

Afterwards I played Dark Souls 3 on PC, and seeing all those notes telling me where everything was almost felt like cheating. You don't really realize how useful much of a gamechanger those notes are until you play without them. I mean it sounds obvious, but you never really realize how much they change the feel of the game.

I finally took down Laurence. Ended the fight with one blood vial and 3 blood bullets left. Now I can finally say I beat every non-Chalice boss solo.

The nightmare is over.

I always felt bad for the three beasts in the above gif. They're not hostile at all, IIRC. They just follow you around. I usually leave them alone and go kill the ones in the open area.

The completionist in me went back and soloed the chalice bosses that I didn't beat solo the first time. Now I can say I've beaten every boss in the game solo.

Was it worth it? Probably not lol.

By solo, do you mean without the help of a summoned NPC, or without the help of a player?

Aside from Trophies is there a reason to subject yourself to Chalice dungeon hell? Also recommended levels for them? I'm sitting on a couple saves with enough variation I could try my had at. Once I clear the game one last time chalices will be the only thing I haven't done.

There's a few unique enemies and bosses that you can only fight in the Chalice dungeons. There's also some good loot in the dungeons, but other than those two reasons, there isn't really that much of a reason to do them. Unless you just want more gameplay.

If you follow a guide, the Chalice Dungeons don't really take terribly long to reach the final boss. I enjoy them for the unique bosses and just because I'll run through them from wanting to play more with a particular build. But I admit when I first went through them I had a very poor opinion of them. It's only repeated run throughs I've grown to like them.

Just a bunch of unique bosses. The dungeons themselves are trash, so it sucks that the game has a number of good boss encounters that are locked behind them.

When I was level 50, I went to Hunter's Nightmare. Not knowing that it's the DLC, I had my but kicked so damn hard. First area that I had to retreat and went the other way.

After beating
Mergo's Wet Nurse, having the doll tell me that Gehrman was waiting for me
which I am pretty sure that it's the last boss I decided to give Nightmare a 2nd try, at lvl 86. This time I kick asses, baby.

Just beat
Lady Maria
just now and holy shit that was a great fight. Best boss in the game so far. Her move-set remind me of
Dark Souls 3 Soul of Cinder, only way faster and way longer range in the later phase.
I probably parried more times during that fight than all the game so far.

Fishing Hamlet, beautiful name, terribly ugly landscape. I miss the sunshine.

I thought Fishing Hamlet was so cool! It was so different from other places in Bloodborne, and really just went full Lovecraftian.

Been playing some in the Forbidden Woods, and I really dislike this place lol. The first area was fun enough, but when you get the first shortcut and start progressing further (with the snakes) everything just looks the same. Which is frankly, not that exciting. Just got down to the bottom for the second shortcut, but ended my game as i just had no motivation to go back down there. Might check out the witches (which killed me on my only try) instead.

Oh yeah, it's definitely cool. It's just that I have had it with gloomy, grimmish places.

I just kept quietly singing this to myself in Fishing Hamlet. On the one-hand it lightened the mood, on the other... it just made it creepier.
That's hilariously fitting.

Riposte, my good friend. He is perhaps a boss that is most susceptible to riposte among all the bosses in the game.

In the 6 attempts at him, I managed to land only one but nearly used up all my reserve of bullets. Yes I suck, lol. Gonna give it a go again later after I farm some bullets.
