Robert De Niro and Jim Carrey for being anti-vaxxers.

Jon Tron was pretty bad. I wasn't the biggest fan of his and I already knew he said some questionable things in the past but I was shocked to learn just how much of scumbag he is.

Definitely Colin Moriarity from IGN/Kinda Funny games which he quit recently due to some really insensitive nonsense on womens day.

He'd been going off the deep end for months prior to quitting Kinda Funny and seemed to be feeding alt-right trolls (beyond his normal game industry controversial opinions and stuff)

10 minutes ago I find out his insane hot take from the weekend on Charlotesville equating anti-fascist protestors to Neo-Nazi's which is the final sickening blow for me.

There is no picking sides on this topic or false moral equivalencies in this instance.

I really really liked Colin and all the work he did, he got me into way more games than I'd ever have thought to play, gave insightful commentary a while back and was a big part in making me pursue starting my own podcast (along with Greg Miller) in his style and format.

But yeah after him showing a lot of his asinine true colours and complete lack of empathy all round, I'll throw him up as my milkshake duck.

This one really sucks for me.
This Colin Moriarty dude is so thin skinned that when I tweeted to someone else about that garbage Charlottesville video, one of his fanboys tagged him, and then he makes a public tweet as a reply to me that was essentially sealioning and urging me to watch his stupid video again. Thinking he could sick his blind fanboys on me. What a sad man.

I thought that was the bassist?

Which this confirms more or less... unless I missed it.

It was all of them. The bassist shared the book with the band initially and they all went in on it.

Edit:
The entire band participated in Alive and Well promo events, so I don't know how it can possibly be argued it was only the bassist. The video makes it really clear. I would have posted the video earlier but honestly I forgot about it.

Well that's an extra layer added to the shit cake.

I'm actually just saddened where Colin's kinda gone, he was practically my favourite "industry" guy.

I'd never have predicted this 12 months ago.

yeah it's been known in any thread about dems/bernie & race (women too), didn't know about the kotaku harassment though. gotta figure that was no man's sky related.
Schreier reported NMS was delayed, NMS fans can't handle their shit and send him death threats among other harassment. The poster in question was of course against harassment in any form but also Schreier was irresponsible and not doing his job correctly and making things difficult for the developer and really Schreier should have know better.

He's always been off.

A 44 year old black man admitting his own ignorance when telling jokes about trans people made you sad?

...yes? Should it not? Should I just accept that people of a certain age are going to be staunchy set in their ways and choose to belittle what they don't understand? Thankfully I think he learned the errors of his ways and, at the very least, will keep off the subject if his latest special is to be concerned, but...why would I just be okay with that?

Hell, an *insert any age of a human being older than like 24 here* being ignorant about the T in LGBT and makin shitty jokes based outta ignorance made you sad? Especially when the person is certainly willing to evolve?

Again, why wouldn't it? I didn't write him off or denounce him immediately, but It was enough to make me sigh and shake my head and say, "baby, what are you doing?"

You probably end up doing that a lot then. It's something I've just grown to expect/anticipate with people of a certain age as just a fact of life.

A long time ago when I still consumed some IGN content like podcast Beyond. I saw a vid where Colin had a shirt on with some conservative propaganda on it. I unsubbed entirely from all that and commented that I couldn't belive IGN just lets their personalities littrealy wear their conservative political views on their sleeves during work. Of course, being on youtube, I got counter comments about being close minded or overly sensitive, and "relax bro, it's just vidya gamez" type of shit.

Great examples, two of the most important living filmmakers and both monstrous individuals. I'm a huge Woody Allen fan and Chinatown is my favorite movie, but if I ever have the chance I won't be shaking their hands.

Yeah, probably my biggest duck, there. Obvious talent and obvious shitheel behaviour.

On a really similar note, Matt Taibbi is one of the foremost journalists on Eastern European issues and a damn good writer. Mark Ames is a co-host of Radio War Nerd, the best audio source for modern history and geopolitics. Both of them are rapists, having coerced and abused dozens of women struggling to survive the destitute poverty of early capitalist Russia. Because Taibbi is a well-connected journalist and Ames is a very niche figure, is unlikely either of them will suffer any ramifications for what they did in Russia 20 years ago. That they are both very important journalists, covering parts of the world almost never given decent consideration by the Western press, makes this even more disappointing.
This is from way upthread, but this seems incredibly reckless to toss out as an accusation, as well as being linked to what seems to be incredibly flimsy, obviously biased writing, on some lost thread in r/feminism. That you read this, believed it, and reached for it as an example in this thread is a little astounding to me.

If we're calling any future milkshake ducks I'm worried Chris Pratt might be one, given his politics and relative silence on Trump.
.
I see this floating around but it's a little hard to believe, considering dude spent a good chunk of his pre-famous life basically being Spiccoli, smoking dope in a van down by the river.

I don't know many people...period who know fuck all about the T in LGBT. He's learned which is more than I can say for most people. And again, I said he's willing to change his views on things. In his NYC special he made a joke using Caitlyn Jenner as a basis to talk about race issues in America with a joke being that she got less flack for changing her gender than Ali got for changing his name. So he's stepping away from some of the jokes he made earlier because he's learned

Most people past a certain age, ain't gonna learn because they have no reason to learn.

Actually this is just you being a dumbass. Sorry. If we're going to introduce organizations into the equation, it would make more sense to look at those who actually go against the principles they claimed to stand for to begin with. Like say... Google. :p

Amen, duckroll. And actually, Google might be my Milkshake Duck. I don't think I've ever really cared enough about any of the really spectacular face-turners, but Google was (and is) a real shame.

I mean...yeah. In the same way that there are a lot of people I have to deal with who think "nigger" is just another word for black people and how I have to deal with people who still wanna use the word "faggot" all the time because "I used it all the time growing up and no one had a problem then..."

It sucks and I wish I didn't have to, but I'm still gonna call people on it.

I don't know many people...period who know fuck all about the T in LGBT. He's learned which is more than I can say for most people. And again, I said he's willing to change his views on things. This is true. The silver lining for the Chappelle stuff was that he was willing to learn, about this, about the Trump shit, about a lot of the silly things we all took for granted 18 months ago when it just seemed like silly edge case shit. Before we got to where we are now.

As for your last line, I'm just at a point (and i'm no spring chicken either) where if you're not going to show a certain amount of respect, I don't have to listen to what you have to say. That's how I was brought up. When I was shown how hurtful using the word "retarded" was, I made an effort to stop. I changed my language when I learned more about the world. The minimum I can ask is for other people to at least consider the same.

But yeah, I know more than a few people who ain't gonna hear it. Thankfully I don't have to associate with too many of those people anymore.

Thinking back on it, I think the Chapelle stuff hit me so hard because it was right on the edge of Cee-Lo coming out as a MASSIVE homophobe. Kind of a really tough one-two punch.

For those who are worried about SBFP, pretty sure I saw Matt retweet Anti-Trump stuff this weekend.

Check his twitter https://twitter.com/MattMcMuscles

I've been rewatching a bunch of their old LPs just for the hell of it, and after multiple years of content, I have yet to see them throw any ill will at minority groups or LGBTQ people. There are gay jokes every once in a while, and a few "dude looks like a lady" jokes, but they're never punching down. Honestly it makes me like them even more. They do skirt the borders of edginess, but do everything to bring the insult back on themselves.

This stuff all comes from the Exile magazine from the late 90s. These aren't unfounded claims, but journalistic reports based on Ames' and Taibbi's own testimony.

Man I take a couple of weeks vacation from GAF for doing a dumb thing, and suddenly I see myself talked about like I died and I was the worst person. I love you all though. Y'all keep me educated.

As for my answer- my Father. It's strange. He raise me to be kind and respectful to all regardless of who or what they are, outside of pure evil. Decades later, he's a full-on MAGA Clown, and quintessential Trump supporter. Example? His Facebook post today comparing BLM and Antifa to the literal NAZIS they were standing against. Fucking disappointing as hell. And he doesn't care who loses respect for him over it

I'm not gonna dig too deep because this should probably be a thing for PMs, but you immediately doubled down on your youtube channel about how you were being persecuted again. This wasn't a "I said one dumb thing and was banned for it" you honest to god think you were persecuted for being a straight, white male and not for throwing out logical fallacies and persecution complexes. The irony of it staggers me.

Not entirely what I meant. I largely agree with you, believe that. But my point of views are always going to perfectly align with yours, but I also highly doubt any of them differ wildly. But my point is to not be vilified somehow because of that fact. But that's your choice. Love you all just the same. Mutual or not. I don't demand, crave, or care about your mutual respect. You've proven you aren't willing to give it- in literally any interaction we've had. And you know what? That's ok. It really is. Again- I respect you.

Followed by tongue-in-cheek jokes about used condoms. It wasn't made be ultra serious. But I do find it funny about my whining about a persecution complex, and then banned for it. I literally had to look up the definition of what persecution was just to be sure I was approaching that particular segment correctly. Very interesting. My discussion was silenced and vilified, instead of debated and assisted in understanding why my post was bad. That's ok. I took care of that understanding myself.

And of course- my PMs are always open to all.

I've learned so much from this website about social issues, where before I was indifferent. Not everyone is concrete in their beliefs. I recently came around on the whole #PunchANazi thing. They earned that shit. Some things take time, some, understanding, some, patience.

3) do you still defend pewdeepie? or are you more afraid to break from the boogie-esque stance of not standing for anything in fear of chasing off YT subs?

to be honest, you don't owe me any answers here, obviously - and I too have learned a lot in recent years. but if you're really going to insist we ride for the same team & aim to identify as an ally of racial/social justice - which being a liberal clearly doesn't always entail - they're questions you oughta answer for yourself.

Rolf Harris. I loved his Cartoon Club show, it really fired my motivation to get into animation and look at cartoons in a different, more inquisitive light. And I was always so jealous of the kids who'd get to go on his show and actually make some animations of their own.

Then many years later he was convicted for sexual offences against underage women. Really brought me down, that.

I don't think that counts, because it's not systemic or repeated. It's a one-time punishment for a thing you did.

Anyway. On this topic, I remembered that I have a milkshake duck. I enjoyed the old Let's Play group Freelance Astronauts, so I was disappointed when they tweeted this. It's still pinned:

To be fair, perhaps I shouldn't be surprised because they did have a ton of tasteless humour. I was going through my 4chan phase when I discovered them. But a lot of the Something Awful guys have become much more aware since the Freelance Astronauts stopped doing videos; Slowbeef and Diabetus from Retsupurae in particular shine out. And look at Psychedelic Eyeball here, he's another SA guy. I had hoped the FA had experienced similar.

I don't think they're hardcore GG peeps - though I haven't followed - and Maxwell does tweet a bunch of (kid gloves) anti-Trump stuff. It seems more like a "keep politics out of my video games" stance, which isn't exactly the greatest thing either.

My discussion was silenced and vilified, instead of debated and assisted in understanding why my post was bad.

That's not true. Plenty of people went out of their way to explain why the points you made were flawed, it's not their fault you weren't interested in listening. You weren't vilified, you said things that were remarkably idiotic (and especially embarrassing coming from an adult) and people responded appropriately.

And let's say you're being honest and really did gain a new perspective from that whole ordeal. Shouldn't you be saying that the ban was actually the thing that improved your understanding of where you went wrong, since before that you didn't listen to the posters who were being relatively calm and you didn't listen to the ones who were being more aggressive? Food for thought!

I was about to go full-on "ohhhhh nooooo" with this before I remembered that they made some really off-color race and trans jokes in their early LPs.

Didn't think much of it then, as it was a different time (and I was in my mid-teens) but nowadays it definitely makes some of their stuff harder to revisit.

They also had Taxidermistpasta as a guest once a few times. His entire shtick was doing silly voices while being as ludicrously racist as possible. I kind of wonder how people feel about him now; it seems like he guested with everyone back then.

Actually, I'm remembering that he was on their Relentless LP, and he joked "that's why people like me, they go 'I agree with his opinions'". I guess at that point they didn't consider that anyone actually might.

Scott Adams.

Dilbert was easily my favorite comic strip (and is still pretty good) and his books are very fun reads, but it's hard to enjoy any of it after reading what he peddles on his blog.

My milkshake duck happened within the last couple weeks or whenever the thread about podcasts getting worse over time happened.

So a lot of people were commenting about the true crime podcast Sword and Scale, as I had never listened to it I gave it a go... Then I found the subreddit. Turns out the host, Mike Boudet, is a huge POS.

Here's some of what he's done.
https://www.reddit.com/r/SwordAndScale/comments/5qplrs/lets_talk_about_mike_and_the_subreddit/

Going after the girls at My Favorite Murder for being a competitor
Allegedly requesting nudes from women fans
Promised no ads on show during show fundraiser and then added said ads. If you were a donater and complained he called you a troll that lived in your mom's basement and banned you.
Drinks and drives
Plagiarized Rolling Stone
SHITS ALL OVER the mentally ill. He seems to have this irrational fear of schizophrenia. Pretty much refers to them as ticking time bombs.

Milkshake duck is a racist. That's the joke. Pretty simple. No idea what a Chinner is.

Mike's apparently always been shitty. He's picked fights with the Last Podcast on the Left guys before because apparently they "stole his show" or some crap. Doesn't surprise me he hates the My Favorite Murder hosts probably because of how successful they've been.

You're wrong on ALL of those points. If you're going to label me a "racist" while I'm on a ban (inappropriately). At least get my stances on those things right.

Identity Politics- my only issue here is that it can't be he ONLY issue you speak to, especially as a political candidate. LITERALLY, all I'm saying.
Feminism- I know I fully support it when it's completely and only about equality of the sexes. Does it really have to be more than that? Right now, the US is just not an equal place for men and women. Period. I support fixing that.
PDP- I defended him on he grounds that I don't really buy that he did something terrible with he intent to be terrible. He did something stupid and looked really stupid for it. To me, intent is everything. But, so is impact. Those two things don't always come out the way you want. But what I ALSO, defend, is the consequences he faced for his stupidity. That's how free speech works. And thats why I support it. Now- JonTron is an entirely different story. His intent is that he is LITERALLY a Nationalist. The shit he said was ridiculous. Is he entitled to that speech? Sure. But again- consequences. Much deserved. Do I like or condone PDP's joke? No. Not at all. Tasteless. But I'm not sure I'm convinced he's anti-anything. He even apologized IIRC. I also spoke out to Colin Moriarty for Both Sidesing Charlottesville. Literally fuck that shit.

But I don't knew-jerk call something they really aren't when something happens. PDP is a "comedian" that did a really goddamn dumb thing. Was called an actual Nazi. Richard Spencer is an ACTUAL LITERAL FUCKING NAZI. I just don't put the two into the same camp. I don't see it as reasonable in the larger scope. But again. Consequences. Richard Spencer keeps getting fucking punched and I absolutely adore it. I originally didn't support this so much, because it felt like a slippery slope. But after Charlottesville? 40 miles from my home town? Nah fuck that. Get straddled, and get fucking pounded, I say. It's no longer "speech".

My views are simple. Nobody in this country should be disadvantaged. Period. Nobody should face harassment or discrimination. For ANYTHING. Gender, Race, LGBT, etc. I've advocated for that since I joined this site, while I was previously indifferent. I didn't care. I've become a whole different person for joining this site. I'm thankful for it. I think Healthcare is a right, I'm an Athesit, but support freedom of practicing religion, but keep that shit out of my Government, and out if my schools. Women should be paid equally for equal work. Period, though I don't know too much about he wage gap. I've heard arguments from both sides, but nothing ever sourced.

So. Yeah, I reject being called a "racist" as this thread implies. You don't have to "be on the same side." But I support what you support, and want what we all want. I just may not necessarily agree on how to get there.
