It was probably because I mostly stuck to Gaming side until recently and only saw inoffensive posts here and there. I followed on him twitter too and he seemed nice but a month later I muted him because he tweeted so much.
About a year later I unmuted him and was completely surprised by what I saw. Then I started seeing his #bothsides posts here. :-|

I mean, Chapelle has his own fair share of terrible shit regarding lgbt+ people. It comes from a place of ignorance, and he hasn't doubled down on it, but he said it.
I wouldn't say it's full on milkshake duck, but it made me very sad as someone who has followed his career from the jump.

I know this is a thread about milkshake ducks but man GG was always so weird for me. Like when I was first hearing "honesty in game journalism" I was like "finally I've always that reviewers had skin in the game that affects their scores. Maybe we can talk about fixing the problems that caused Jeff to be fired for Gamespot." Then like 24 hours later it was the delayed realization that "wait no, that's a rouse is just to be shitheads to women." I still think that there is something to discuss where you look at Gamespot/Jeff, Dorito Pope, that crew who shit on Jeff for his FO4 review while being sponsored by and regaled in FO4 merch. He attacked a Kotaku article that argued people need to stand up to online harassers when it is happening. His argument was that you should be quiet and ignore them. If you don't understand by now that ignoring harassment does nothing to help those being harassed or stop the culture of harassment then I have some questions about your character. His arguments focused more on the mental state of the harasser and how they would not be in the position to learn, but he did not talk about the mental state of the victims of harassment.
I'm bracing for impact.

He'd been going off the deep end for months prior to quitting Kinda Funny and seemed to be feeding alt-right trolls (beyond his normal game industry controversial opinions and stuff)

There is no picking sides on this topic or false moral equivalencies in this instance.
I really really liked Colin and all the work he did, he got me into way more games than I'd ever have thought to play, gave insightful commentary a while back and was a big part in making me pursue starting my own podcast (along with Greg Miller) in his style and format.
But yeah after him showing a lot of his asinine true colours and complete lack of empathy all round, I'll throw him up as my milkshake duck.
This one really sucks for me.
