The only saving grace of this episode is Hit, and that God is a better form than SSB, even if they're both still awful.

Maybe Roshi will use the mafuba on Goku next episode and save all of us.

This is FAR too late to throw that randomly in one episode in the most casual way.

Not only does it contradict half a dozen scene from the anime, the fact they didn't even bother to explain why he never used it again is worse.

At least in the manga he kept using it.

Yeah, all of this.

It honestly ruined the episode for me.

OK so SSG isn't faster than SSB somehow, just uses less stamina like the manga.

Another feat here with DB finally confirmed 100% faster than light.

Goku's fights are so boring to watch. I think they have ruined him in Super. It's really sad. Where are all the special techniques like Super Dragon Fist?

Whis states the God is faster than Super Saiyan but uses less stamina than Blue. Blue is still implied to be stronger and faster.

Haven't watched the episode yet but these consensus seems to be that SSG is NOT better than SSB?

It's basically the same as the manga. It's weaker but uses less stamina. However, it's still better than SSJ1, which contradicts Super's version of BoGs. It lines up fine with the movie though.

Don't think ssg makes him any stronger, maybe just a bit.
As he absorbed the power and his base form is supposed to be equal to it in power.

It probably just gives him the super speed boost, without any stamina drain issues.
plus it also has some healing proporties, going ssg sounds like a straight up better deal than using ssj or staying in base.
I wonder if it has a time limit then, or something that prevents him from constantly using it; if going by BoG it probably still has a time limit.

The Angels and Grand Priest could see Dyspo's attacks but not the gods? Even Zeno couldn't wtf.
The english subs are out.

Can we stop the spoiler tags now?

I was wondering about that. I figure Zeno isn't a fighter hence he finds the tournament exciting to watch. So perhaps has basically infinite power but no need to use it outside of things like wiping out a universe.

So Toppo is throwing Justice out the window now?

That and Jiren did a grunt and looked unsatisfied.

Overall the episode was pretty enjoyable. Hit is still great, Champa and Vados banter is still good, and I did like the grand entrance Goku got in SSG form.

One: glad that Hit wasn't knocked out. An awesome character like him deserves more.

Second: Champa is indeed my favorite god. So hilarious that prick.

Third: fuck the Pride Troopers. No, I'm not kidding, fuck them. The so called Justice Warriors, and they are a bunch of cowards who gang up against other warriors. I won't shed a tear after they get wiped out, including Toppo.

Seems like in terms of power and speed, its: SSB > SSG >> SSJ1. It makes sense that Goku's pulling out SSG now even though he ditched it for a long time, because a large factor of this tourney is stamina. I expect that SSB and SSG are roughly in the same tier, so that in the past it made sense to jump from SSJ1 straight to Blue and ignore Red entirely. The main issue here seems to be the consistency of Goku "absorbing the power of SSG" in the anime, which would make SSG redundant. (Which this episode showed it isn't.) Unless they meant the jump in power alone, and that Goku's current understanding of God Ki makes SSG viable again?

Yuuup, Dypso was a huge douche. He kept on ranting about how he was annoyed by Hit's confidence, when he himself was arrogant and got duped into a trap. At least Hit can back up his confidence with actual results. And Toppo dropping the justice persona should make him more tolerable.

I'm very disappointed, a true hero never throws out justice. Superman would be ashamed.

Weird mindset. If universe 7 had any sense, they'd be doing the same thing

Nah bro it wouldn't be fair

Universes besides 6 and 7 were a mistake
Universe 6 has been trash so far.
Half their fighters haven't been revealed.
They can't do anything without Goku babying them.

Yeah I don't know... feels cheap at this point.
I feel like this is the last arc that will use SSG and SSB, because whatever this new transformation is will make them obsolete, or maybe something similar to Ultimate where Goku can't use them anymore, so this is Toei just trying to squeeze as much out of them as they can.

I didn't get to watch the whole episode, but the animation looked great! Also Hit is a badass! He better be in FighterZ.

I thought it was one of the best episodes of the ToP so far...

Me too. Episode was awesome. Fun interactions, the fighting was the most interesting it has been so far. Zeno has limits confirmed. The whole SSG thing was sloppy but I thought the episode overall was great. Animation was easily on the stronger side for Super. Enjoyed watching this one quite a bit. Probably my favorite tourney episode so far tbh. Funny, the last 3 episodes have all been my favorite. Things started off weak but it's getting pretty good for me.

Also crunchyroll said SSG was faster than SSJ, not SSB...

disgusting

Eh... I know it is survival and everything is fair game, but I don't want to see Universe 6 characters go out so fast (especially Hit and Caulifla), and lose Champa and Vados banter. And so far, we have only seen the Pride Troopers gang up against them (although admittedly, Kale is a big threat when she loses control).

I like the SSG thing... buuut it sucks they pulled it out of nowhere here. Would have been nice to see in previous arcs. I really feel like the manga got it right in regards to the two forms and switching between them

Not that any of this matters because we know Goku is getting a badass new form anyway

Damm, Toshio knew that trying to explain why Goku suddenly pulled SSG out of his ass after all this time would be such a useless endeavour that he didn't even bother lol

Screw the (remaining) Pride Troopers for the opposite reason. An isolated Hit was kicking Dyspo's ass like five feet away from Jiren and Toppo at one point. They should have quadruple-teamed Hit right then and there.

Good episode. Nice to see super saiyan god form again. It gave me the sense of goku being powerful than blue for some reason lol.

The episode 102 still my favorite for this tournament arc so far.

But then Jiren would have to do something

But it's true

Absolute nonsense episode that completely soured what could've been an enjoyable dynamic between Hit and Goku.

Firstly, Dypso for some reason isn't an absolute jobber like the rest of the pride troopers that aren't Toppo and Jiren. Character development? Foreshadowing? No... okay.

Then there's this guy who can prevent ring outs but he doesn't save any of the other pride troopers??? Did I miss something?

Goku's SSG looked awesome but was completely out of the blue and just ridicules the last 3 arcs by it not being used once during them. You're telling me SSG's increased speed wouldn't have helped against Hit, Black or Zamasu? Lmao. It's clear as fuck they forgot about it until this arc which makes it terrible story telling.

I really don't understand how people can enjoy constant retcons and inconsistencies just to shoehorn Goku into any scene. He doesn't even do anything of note as SSG. He just turned SSB in the end.

I just want stuff to make sense. Please.

This episode was great. Shame about the reused animation, but having the characters actually look like the characters was a step up from last week's shitshow.

This was weird. Hit was talking but Dyspo's mouth was the one moving.

Champa asking for the Vuvuzela

Next time we see Champa he has it but it's not completely visible.

Champa is the best character fuck everyone else

Fuck yeah!
