Metal Gear Solid 2 HD coming to Nvidia Shield tomorrow [out now]

You click in the left stick to lower your gun on the 360 version.

Which is better than the stupid pressure sensitive crap

You don't need to put that in tags. Pressure sensitive buttons are the worst idea Kojima ever had. Clicking the left stick actually sounds good.

How do you hold up with an assault rifle without firing it?

prolly a reference to the tegra commonality
I know, I know. I simply expected the big amount of Switch-comments, that's all. It's amusing, every time.

But this is the first port of a MGS game in the post-Kojima era, right? So, yeah, it's possible, indeed.

I don't understand... Is this an android version of the game rather than a PC version then?

Do people even play games like that on mobile? The only Shield Tablet owner I know uses it exclusively for touchscreen rhythm games.

Not even just Android. Nvidia Android devices only.

Woah! Maybe a PC release of the MGS games coming soon?

But then again, the Taxman versions of Sonic 1 and 2 had a similar release with no PC release in sight >_<

They appear but it's inconsistent for some reason. I've seen them when I replayed my PS3 HD collection.

Really confused as to why this isn't announced for PC as well but maybe that's for later.

huh, okay.

It's weird though when the camera pans down and its nothing there :p

The fuck. This is literally out of nowhere. Doubt it means much for a PC version though. Since if I recall the shield stuff is basically payed for by Nvidia if not ported by them as well.

I keep seeing threads about Nvidia Shield which reminds me it does have a few games I'm interested in, and I love handheld gaming. Maybe I should look into one.

Not for MGS2 though. Quite happy with my Vita version of that.

Nothing against the Shield, but this is certainly a weird announcement.

Yeah, it's bizarre. I didn't know NVidia was still shopping for Shield ports and this quite the strange choice.

But again, NVidia already has a relationship with Konami since the Shield got a Metal Gear Rising port.

The Sonic 2 mobile of MGS.

At least Sonic 1+2 on mobile makes it widely available to people.

I dont know a single steam friend who owns a Nvidia Shield.

This is the HD version that's on PS3, Vita and Xbox 360. Not a port of the old PC version!
That's huge. Cause the PC version from the 2000s was bad and wouldn't reflect the game as it should today. Wonder if we will eventually see the entire HD collection (or Legacy Collection) make its way to the PC. Preserve preserve preserve. Especially MGS1 needs a PC update. The OG version doesn't not run as intended on modern PCs the last time I checked

Could this be a sign that those games are likely to come to other platforms? (non-specific platform port begging isnt port begging is it?)

Could someone enlighten me, is this a simple thing to port? Have they put actual time and money into this rather than any of the other big platforms? Not complaining at all, just again working out if its a sign of it coming to a platform I own for example.

It depends but possible. Every "Only on Shield" game has at least a PC port of some kind. Since making a android based version off an original PC version is usually the easiest way to go about things. However as said above if there's any company that would literally port or allow a port for MGS2 to really be only on shield and nothing else it's Konami.

Regardless if MGS HD Collection were to hit PC. It would be a good sign about it perhaps coming to PS4/XB1/Switch

I guess Revegeance did good enough for either nVidia/Konami to justify this.

So crazy to see Ps3/Xbox 360 games ported to Android

Surprising announcement indeed, think I'll pick it up and give it a shot before I sell off the Shield TV after Google broke the ATV YouTube app for good lol.

I guess PC collection + Switch version might be coming sooner than later though so idk.

What a peculiar announcement. Still, good that it's now less chained to older platforms, but PC or PS4 would me nice for 2 & 3.

Wow that's so random. They must release the HD collection on PC and Consoles, it's a no brainer and the only Konami product I'm willing to pay for. Gotta buy Kojima products even if it's in the hands of evil.

I seriously doubt any game on the Shield TV sold beyond five figures, so if Konami is going to use these numbers as some sort of test we're fucked.
They have no reason to do that. They did the opposite with Metal Gear Rising. As anti-consumer as the company has been, they have no reason to intentionally make decisions that actually hemorrhage money. I'd expect a PC/PS4/XB1 release of the game too, and wouldn't be surprised if we end up seeing the same thing for MGS 3 HD.
