New Overwatch Animated Short: "Rise and Shine"

Crossing Eden

Damn Blizzard CG is still top notch. I know losers have a knee jerk reaction to Bolt when they see Mei, but I think it was really cute to show how she got Tangled up in this situation. Was really neat to see her create those Frozen platforms with her ice gun too. Haters should just Let It Go.

"It costs 200,000 dollars to fire this weapon, for 12 seconds"

"This, is a bucket"
"Dear god"
"Theres more"
"NO"

"Kill me"
"Later"

Thats just a small sample of quotable stuff i still see to this day among TF2 players old and new. And thats from the shorts, not even mentioning the comics or in-game stuff.

OW tries to make its characters fun too with the unique voicelines in-game but the outside media never reflects that.

Yeah, Tf2 shorts are on a different level. I go through all of them every once in a while and I haven't played Tf2 in years

SNOWBALL NO!

Kinda wish that Mei simply made or found another one; let the original's sacrifice stand on its own.

All in all, it was cute. Lucio's is next, right Blizzard?

Right Blizzard?......

RIGHT?

So why did she survive hibernation and the others died? I thought originally it was because Winston woke her up, but here it shows they are all dead by the time she wakes up.

That was boring and terrible.

It's also weird they are trying to humanize the literal personification of evil.

Their cryo-stasis pods all malfunctioned and the life support failed. They were probably all skeletons in those pods.

Playing on that map is gonna be creepy with that in mind.

It really irritates me that Blizzard have created a really cool videogame world with loads of conceptually interesting characters yet all of the media they create is ridiculously childish, simple and boring. They could be doing way better.

How would she know it was still around 9 years later? And if it was why didn't they check in on Mei's station?

Probably didn't know anything for sure, but I doubt she had much of a choice. It's possible the data set that she had (with the news articles and stuff) possibly kept tabs on other stations nearby.

As for why they didn't check on her, since it's an Overwatch station then shit might have been kept secret for some reason. Raises the question about why Mercy or Torbjorn or someone didn't go down there to check in, though.

“All my friends are dead” is childish now...ok. How much more edge do you want?

Cute animated short. I like seeing origin stories and there are so many of them left. I also kind of want to see Talon vs Overwatch going forward, but we might not get that for a while.

Reminds me of the 'kung fu panda' complaints about Pandaria when Pandaria had the darkest quest lines in the game up until Legion

This is kinda funny, because looking it up, Pandaria came out after the second KFP film. Did people complaining SEE the second film? Christ.

Back on topic, what kind of tone are people looking for from a world like Overwatch's??? Political intrigue and all that bullshit is cool, but I just want to see these characters used and in motion. It's a decidedly lighthearted franchise.

This short was awesome and it made me feel sorry for Mei, which is something I never thought I would say.

Forget the haters and the people who are calling this boring or childish. I love it.

No, I don't think so. Every short I've seen is beautifully animated, but full of cliches and mediocre dialogue

I've memorized every meet the team video, can't say the same for the overwatch ones

These videos always upset me. That Overwatch the game is relegated to simple MP with no story beyond logs is infuriating. They invent all of these interesting characters and do all this world building outside of the actual game.

it's like if after the first Bioshock trailer, the game turned out to be an arcade racer.

I hope someone at Blizzard is putting together an actual Overwatch game, and they just haven't announced it yet.

These guys do fantastic animation but the dialogue is always so freaking awkward.

Let me explain everything out loud very eloquently as if I were talking to the audience in a theater.
