Maybe we'll see Lindsay find herself still desiring a family, just not in the crazy, forced situation she'd found herself in.

"Did you know that the thing that your parent did to you as a kid can influence you as an adult?"

"Wait, You mean, like time travler?"

Linday...
Not like Gretchen's comment was all that more intelligent.

I feel the opposite. Watching her and Paul get back together and try to make it work was like watching a car accident in slow motion. She's not really a whole person, their marriage was still a sham, and a kid was never going to fix that. Her struggling with independence and trying to find an identity was a much better direction for her growth as a character imo. It was kind of weird how she made that decision in between the episodes though. I did not picture things culminating that way. Paul still seems to be in the dark about it so it'll be interesting to see how he takes that news.

People try too hard, for too long way too often. I don't feel showing it here was by any ways a waste.

Just caught up to the latest episode.

Dorothy breaking down...right in the feels. That was actually a bit heartbreaking, and she was barely in this season. But the episode was in point and didn't even have to spend a lot of time with it to make it hit.

I'm surprised Jimmy was able to build a decent treehouse with how incompetent he seems to be at physical activity.

Jimmy's realization about his life at the end also bit pretty hard. Seems like we might have just reached the major conflict point in the season between Jimmy and Gretchen. Do we get another Vernon/Becca party in three episodes to resolve it all? lol

When's the baby due? Is it time for a Christening fueled by trash juice?!

New episode tonight:
The Inherent, Unsullied Qualitative Value of Anything

At a wedding together for the first time since the day they met, Jimmy and Gretchen's tensions come to a head. Edgar's relationship is jeopardized by his newfound success. Lindsay is forced to come clean to Paul.

Well that was a little bleak. Just what this week demanded.

Yeah, I really liked the long takes. Reminded me of that episode of The X-Files. Also loved the splitscreen shot at the end and the line, "Bitch, I ain't got no glint."

Probably my favorite episode of the season, loved how we just wandered around the awkwardness with the characters, and the ongoing gag following the servers was a nice touch.

- The two writers on this week's episode talk about it with EW

A few highlights:
A special shout out goes to our cast, crew and director, Wendey Stanzler, for pulling off this incredibly difficult episode. We spent two days doing the oners over and over, and it was mind-blowing how good everyone was at executing it. And an extra-special shout-out goes to our steadicam operator, Thom Valko, who had maybe the hardest job of all and was an absolute badass.

We (the writers) had wanted to do a oner since the first season of You’re the Worst. The first incarnation of the idea was to follow Jimmy and Gretchen as they finished a boozy brunch, got in their car and started driving, and then ran over Haley Joel Osment while he was on his bike. Two seasons later, we think we got a much better version of it, though running over Haley Joel Osment on a bike would have been a lot of fun.

Jimmy creeping up on Gretchen in bed was inspired by the classic “Ninja Cat” viral video.

Much like the belief that camel’s humps have water in them (episode 303), the writers’ room’s utter lack of animal knowledge is very real, as evidenced by the fact that none of us actually know whether or not ink comes from squids.

No one in the party acknowledges Paul until the very end, a metaphor for Lindsay “disappearing” him from her life. It occurred to us that viewers might think he was dead and actually a ghost. He’s not. He’s alive.

Jimmy is wearing Edgar’s bathing suit as underwear because Franklin once lent Shane a bathing suit, and later busted him for wearing it as underwear. Apparently, it was laundry day.

That episode was amazing. The oner was incredibly well executed one top of the entire episode premise and humour being on point. This show has been rapidly jumping up my favourites and it's now one of the shows I'm most excited for week to week (whereas I didn't bother watching Season 2 until it was finished and would often be several episodes behind in early season 3)

The character development has been so good. The only complaint I have is Edgar. I feel like his entire relationship has been kinda weak for his character. It's a great way to tell the story of his gf but Edgar in Season 1 was one of my favourite characters with his being a foil to Jimmy but now he just kinda feels removed from the show.

Two episodes tonight, including the season finale:
You Knew It Was a Snake; No Longer Just Us

The three couples engage in day-long fights. (Written by Eva Anderson; directed by Wendey Stanzler.)

Then, in the second half hour, Jimmy and Gretchen investigate a murder site. Lindsay sees a new side of Paul. Edgar makes a sacrifice with unforeseen consequences. (Written by Stephen Falk and Franklin Hardy & Shane Kosakowski; directed by Wendey Stanzler.)
This is scheduled for a 1 hour 20 minute run time tonight.

Oh wow, I had no idea they were airing the final two episodes back to back! An hour and twenty minutes seems a bit much for one sitting of this show, but we'll see how it goes.

Wow, an hour and twenty minutes tonight. That must be some finale, then.

Vernon's hair looks longer when he throws the popcorn/kettle corn. Unhinged Vernon with trash juice maybe!

- Huffington Post interview with Adam Blau, the composer for YTW
But beyond the show’s writing, and the actors’ abilities to juggle subtle depictions of depression with rip-roaring moments of vulgarity, there’s the music. Composer Adam Blau is behind it all ? at least, the original music you hear throughout the show’s three seasons. The wordless tones that play in the background of a threesome? You can thank Blau for that. (That particular song has 9,000 listens on SoundCloud, actually.) The yacht rock ballad that Edgar plays in a solitary struggle with his own PTSD? Blau wrote that. (And somehow recruited a hit-making ‘70s band to bring it to life.) The songs Sam, Gretchen’s unruly client, raps? Blau made those, too. (Along with Falk, who Blau jokingly confirmed is on tape rapping Sam’s Odd Future-esque lines.)

Ahead of the Season 3 finale of “You’re The Worst” ? which has been renewed for a fourth season ? we checked in with Blau to hear more about his role in one of FX’s most millennial-friendly shows. And yes, he talked about “New Phone Who Dis?”

Fantastic finale. The one thing that has always been consistent with this show is its unpredictability. You never really know what to expect, but you just go with it. I can't wait until next season.

Awesome finale. The ending was brutal, but felt right for this show. It hurt though. Realizing all the stuff Jimmy did for the proposal, made the ending hit harder. I really liked how Lindsey's story ended too.

Once again love the little details/callbacks or whatever like the receptionist who appeared as I think a pizza guy and security guard in earlier seasons where he ended up quitting his job. Or a haggard Killian looking for food. Or leg washing. Love it. Love this show.

This show's schtick is really wearing thin for me. At least Bad Guy Paul was fun and cathartic to watch.

Well, you can always count on the characters to immediately stop smiling the moment they turn their backs to whomever they're talking to because they're ~ so damaged ~

That proposal plan was something out of the Playbook that even Barney Stinson would have been proud of.

But like what the fuck Jimmy??

Why is what Jimmy did shocking?
He has been pretty much saying he doesn't think he wants to be with her for the last couple of episodes and him proposing probably pushed him over the edge of doubt.

- Andy Greenwald podcast with Stephen Falk
Andy Greenwald talks to Stephen Falk, creator and showrunner of 'You're the Worst,' about the show's third season finale, its future, and taking creative chances.

I listened to a bit of it on the way to work. Well worth your time if you're into the show. They do spend a fair amount of it on politics towards the front end, so skip ahead if that's not your thing.

I thought that was a little quick, with Jimmy instantly running away from the family concept. That felt like it was taken too far, I'd have left it at him walking away with that look of reconsideration.

I laughed at Dorothy citing 700 Sundays as a script without a white girl role. If you don't know, that's a one-man Billy Crystal play.

Paul getting some licks in on Lindsay was amusing, like how she doesn't know how the photo checking stuff works.

Paul stuff good; finally some pay off. Rest, not so much. Didn't like the ending much. I know the show is about mental illness kind of first and foremost, but it doesn't have to feel so bi-polar in construction.

Yeah, if anything the show is completely predictable at this point. I'm not sure how anyone could feel otherwise.

I agree with everyone posting that the Paul stuff was great, but that's just because Lindsay is such an odious cretin that it was nice to finally see someone shit on her.

I'm not sure how Jimmy goes from the previous episode to proposing to her in the next.

I get this show is called You're the Worst but jeez at least show me some underlying aspects of character that should make me root for you. Just absolutely terrible people except for Edgar.

Yeah, it was the only thing I didn't like in otherwise amazing episodes.

"I cucked you now! I am hot the hot wife!"

"You made up a murder for me!"

And Gretchen and Jimmy solving their problem using the incest fiction, 10/10.
