Blood, Sweat, And Pixels Thread: Print Sneak Fuck

Sadly, the UK physical version is on a boat and indeed won't be available until next month. Sorry, guys. Out of my hands.
You purposefully timed your boat books to reach our land a month later. Strategically designed so that more people can join the conversation™. Boat books out to Asia, a couple of months later. Boat books out to Africa, a year later. Boat books out to Middle East, 2 years later. So that we will still be talking about this book for years. It's very clever.

How's the audiobook? I bought the paperback, but it comes in the mail later today & I'm considering getting an Audible account to listen to it at work.

As my agent told me earlier today, just think of the UK version as the PC port.

Bought this on the UK Google Play store this morning and read the first chapter on Pillars of Eternity over my lunch break. Really interesting stuff, I had no idea how precarious Obsidian's situation was for a while there. Looking forward to reading some more when I get home from work tonight.

Great work Jason! There are far too few books written about the industry. This is exactly the sort of thing I've been itching to read for years.

Wait I got the 30 point pages, while those Euros get the superior 60 point pages

Order Cancelled, err.. I mean Refund Please!

Just got my copy delivered! Wish I didn't have to work two jobs today but I'll be able to dig in before too long. Congrats Jason!

Was planning to get around to read this but between announcement and release I've had several books plopped onto me that I'm struggling to get through. Need to keep an eye to pick this up when I get the time to read it.

And bought. I read devlogs on TIGSource all the time, but AAA game dev rarely discusses the rigours of their development in the same way, so I'm really interested in checking this out

Thinking about getting the Kindle version. Was going to get a print copy, but I'm much more often likely to read off my kindle than a real book.

I just have too much crap to read now. This book's been on my radar though, and I'm excited about when I can dive in. I honestly don't know exactly what it's about, I just think the author does good work.

Edit: ah screw it, I'll just buy it and keep it in my Kindle. I have to finish this library book before I have to return it though. Shouldn't take long....

Anyone know if there's an ebook/print bundle available anywhere? (Probably not, but figured I'd do a lazyweb ask before I order the trade paperback version.)

I read the intro and part of the first chapter on my bus ride to work this morning, and it's really fantastic so far.

Congrats, Jason!

And bought.
Loved your stuff of Kotaku, Jason, so it's great to have a lot more of them, especially when it has chapters on games I love and/or hate.

The one thing though - does the kindle version has any 'publisher' fonts? I don't have any on my copy, but i don't know if that's because of my weird situation - bought the book on the US amazon, got my kindle in Germany, but I live in Poland.

Bought the paperback. This is the kind of book I want to see more of, so this is the kind of book I'll support. Looking forward to reading it soon. I'm a huge Dragon Age: Inquisition fan so I'm excited for that section.

So somehow I got this for $5.99 through Google Play, digital version

They're doing a -$5 off promotion on purchasing a Best Seller or books over $5-10

ffff that's what I get for pre-ordering. Either way, can't wait to dig into this tonight. Hope nobody gets in trouble for the insider info!

I've been anticipating this for a couple months now. I love Schreier's investigative work on Kotaku and I also love listening to audiobooks on industry history while out and about/working out/ect. and the fact that we've got a bunch of behind-the-scenes stories by the Sneak Fuck himself, read by Ray Chase...

I can't wait to get off work today!

Congratulations Jason on the release of your book! Really can't wait for mine to arrive. I really should've used a faster shipping option than I did for the book. But once I get it I know I'm know I'm going to enjoy it.

2 chapters in (Pillars and Uncharted) and boy is this book fascinating. Really, really great work on this Jason, so many interesting little details that I'm sure couldn't have been easy to piece together into a clear and cohesive narrative. A+ so far

I just finished reading the introduction, and I already feel anxious for game developers everywhere. I can tell this is going to be an amazing book (I cannot wait to read the 1313 chapter). Congratulations on the release, Jason. I hope it's a huge hit for you.

Pillars of Eternity chapter was great. I didn't know anything at all about the game but it was fascinating how the Kickstarter came about. I can't wait to read about Uncharted tomorrow.

Finished the first three chapters. I'm surprised of how much I enjoyed reading about Stardew Valley and PoE, two games I had no interest in playing and wasn't familiar with them at all. I'm actually considering picking both up since they came out on consoles recently with all the patches/expansions. The Uncharted 4 chapter was just sublime. It really explains why fans shouldn't be angry when games get delayed considering it would actually mean extra weeks of crunching to developers.

I've read through the Shovel Knight chapter, and it's kind of funny - in an intensely dark way - that almost every chapter so far has a section that can be summed up as "and then they crunched for X months and it was awful."

Woof, Lucas Arts' 1313 presentation at Visceral made me feel queasy. I can't imagine how much that must have hurt the leads in the room. Fucking brutal. :(
