Giant Bomb |OT32| I've been meaning to love a boat

Wrong about commas, wrong about everything
Yup! You can do it at any time as many times as you want without cost* on the skill tree page.

(*My understanding is that this was part of a Day 1 patch, but still.)

I think that's a big part of why I enjoy the game so much.
It's so....stress free. You can just do stuff without worrying that it might impact the "meta-game"
A nice contrast to XCOM for sure (War of the Chosen keeps crashing for me btw)

Following the Ben/Abby discussion from earlier, is it just me or does Ben lean a lot more towards innuendo/explicit stuff and that kind of humour than most of the others and has pushed GBwest that way slightly? Like even more of a boys club..

I definitely noticed it when he first started, as he would make those kind of remarks about almost everything when he was trying to make a joke, which was often.

He's fine apart from that but I wish he would cut it out, its things like that that make women uncomfortable in male dominated fields.

lol this post is so off-base it's crazy

The "Turn Up With Jeff and Ben" podcast is pretty good

"You seem like you might have dabbled in Maple Story at some point. That might be the meanest thing I've ever said to you."

Did Jeff say this to Ben, because if so, 1. that's amazing and 2. it would endear Ben to me even further if he actually did.

I need more Beast in the East in my life soon.

I'm about to start the finale of Kiwami, I can see why they went with the budget pricing here. There's a good amount of game but a ton of it was recycled from 0. And coming from 0, if I'd paid full price I'd feel a bit let down even considering I'm enjoying it a lot. Because 0 is just a fantastic, huge game. The difference between old and new content is pretty glaring too, even though I've never played Yakuza 1. You frequently run into PS2-era animations and the old sidequests are pretty simplistic/boring compared to the goofy and heartwarming substories in 0 (and the new content for Kiwami).

It's also much harder. I actually like this as I've been forced to explore and use all of my styles, the mechanical improvements to style switching made this a lot easier too. The arena was a pretty brutal grind and there have been some frustrating story encounters, but I'm too stubborn to turn down from hard mode.

I definitely think they should turn the difficulty down to easy for this one, regardless of who plays it. I haven't done extensive testing of the difficulty modes but I would not be surprised if Kiwami on normal is more difficult than 0 on hard - it seems to assume you played 0. It was only once I fought my way through the coliseum and got the Tiger Drop that Kiwami started feeling easy. But even then, it's nothing compared to how much 0's Beast style breaks everything.

I hope they aren't going to continue with the Yakuza series any time soon. I loved their 0 series but the games just seem so similar.

Can't believe I'm going to say this, but I would prefer Shemue 2. I enjoyed the constant shitting on the first game and the writing and characters are almost The Room level of terrible/amazing.

I can't believe Ben played Naruto Arena. I played that game for so long and had my own clan. Oh god these memories are so embarrassing.

Brad on destiny 2: "it's too much of a good thing."

This is in no way a misrepresentation of what he said, don't @ me rudds.

I played that very briefly but it was still super weird to hear it brought up recently.

...I need to start listening to the Bombcast again as is but maybe it's time to start listening to this show too.

If somebody tries to put Des2ny high on the list, all someone needs to do is pull the "it's what Destiny 1 should have been" argument. That first game is an anchor around the sequel's neck come GOTY time.

So they succeeded in making what everyone hyped up as destiny 1

I'm not sure how this makes it sound bad

huh? nah, the first game shouldn't have any bearing on how high 2 is. i don't see how that's relevant

des2ny belongs in the top 3. its da goat

Destiny talk on the Bombcast was good. The "mystique" of Destiny 1 added to the experience for me and Destiny 2 does go a little too far in the opposite direction for my tastes. Also Jeff's PSO comparisons are very apt, even down to letting you play as a human, a magic human, or a robot. Having an AI tell my exo that "it's not murder if it's a robot" made that line even better.

Re Nathan Fillion, I'm not too familiar with his work outside of games but he was in Jade Empire and played a total asshole villain.

"What Destiny should've been" still sounds bigger and better than what we got with Destiny 2, or even Destiny 1 + expansions if I'm being honest.

This is something Ive been thinking about for awhile now. It better not be. I understand holding back the raid for 1 week, but everything else should be up to date with consoles.

If they continue to treat the PC version as the ugly step child, I wont be purchasing it and Ill skip D2 all together. And this is coming from someone who played D1 non fucking stop.

They've said DLC will be day and date with the consoles, so I can't imagine the content will be delayed other than maybe that first raid while everyone gets up to level.

It's kind of crazy just how much they changed their approach to storytelling in Destiny 2, not so much course correction as entirely throwing out the previous approach. It almost feels like skipping from s1-2 of Game of Thrones directly to s7, as if they tried to tighten things up but overcompensated and wound up with a world that feels significantly smaller.

It's hard to say it's worse this way as pretty much anything is a step up from not telling a story at all, but I did think the general scope and tone of Destiny 1 was somewhat unique, and it's kind of a bummer that instead of trying to tell a story within that original framework it's been left behind in favor of a more traditional David vs Goliath thing. I'm sure there's still tons of lore or whatever to be found in 2, but something about the original conveyed a feeling of history (and reverence for that history) even if you didn't go and read all the grimoire cards or whatever.
