My Nintendo Thread: Mii Nintendo, U Nintendo, Wii Nintendo

I wonder when we'll get the Samus wallpaper.

Also, how are you guys losing so many coins. Just burn them on wallpapers.
Like I even care for these points anymore. I went through all those damn surveys in Club Nintendo because it was worth it in the end. Now, you go survey yourself, Nintendo. Take also the points with you. Now, how 's that for an opinion?

I do them because a lot of the games I've gotten surveys for are flawed in some way. I use it for direct feedback.

Guys, I want to redeem Swapdoodle DLC, but I don't see the shopping cart icon on screen to take me to the Lesson Store. How do I gain access to the store?

I purchased Project Zero 2 Wii Edition (Europe) with the Gold Coins, they were going to expire anyway and I love the game even if I already own it physically. It's worth it I feel, will also make predicting the ghost hands a lot harder, the Wii disc drive would always tick before a hand would appear making it ridiculously easy to dodge them. Really poor programming job on that part! :p

So I noticed a couple of days ago on the My Nintendo homepage that my Mii icon (at the top right of the screen) was wearing a sombrero. "Sweet," I thought, "there's some kind of Mario Odyssey promotion going on!" I clicked on it, expecting to find a relevant news post, but there was nothing. Then I looked a little closer, and realised that the Mii was actually outfitted in Miitomo gear.

Sure enough, if you go to your Nintendo Account you can choose between using your generic Mii or your personalised Miitomo Mii as an avatar. The specific page is here:
https://accounts.nintendo.com/mii/chooser

I hadn't seen mention of this change elsewhere on GAF, and this thread seemed the most appropriate place in which to post about it. I always expected this to be a thing Nintendo would implement, especially when the Switch launch was approaching, and was very surprised when the Switch ended up having no way of importing Mii data via a linked Nintendo Account. That feature is still missing as of now, but given this update on the web side of things maybe it will finally be implemented soon.

I'm still really unsure why Nintendo went with three (and if 3DS and WiiU not linked four) different Mii's. It's mind boggling that you have one for Miitomo, one for the WiiU and/or 3DS and one completely unrelated to those on the Switch sine you can't import your older Mii's unless you use an amiibo. They really have have to start merging stuff, because even as a fan who knows which is which, it's confusing as all hell...

I can't believe he Nintendo killed Nintendo Club for this shit.

It's borderline useless

We had nothing in the past.

Again, think about other people. I know that you guys love to act like you deserve more than us others, but we are just as good as you are.

We had NOTHING before. Now we at least have something.

And if they actually implement the stuff they were patenting at some point, My Nintendo could be valuable.

I'm part of the people in the countries that had nothing prior to this. I'm loving the discounts because I don't buy games at full price anymore.

Nope, you've still got nothing. Just nothing dressed up to look like something. It's a goddamn insult.

Whoops... Forgot to cash in my expiring coins last night. There goes 600-ish Super Mario Run coins, 600-ish FEH coins, a hundred someodd platinums and maybe a hundred Miitomo coins.

I'm not splitting hairs over the plats and Miitomo, but I'm annoyed about the mobile game ones. I haven't played FEH in ages because I got just plain bored with the gameplay, and Super Mario Run doesn't give me jack shit to use the coins on. There is no purpose whatsoever to building my kingdom and I'm sitting on hundreds of thousands of coins and hundreds of buildings and such with no motivation to place them.

Should just post "nothing anyone will care about" next time.

Wow. Metro I'd fusion is a discount. Even though they have given it away for free as a fold reward before. I even got it.

Sign another disappointing month. This service will never get any better.

Woo, got a birthday present!

30% off any of the following:

Super Mario Maker™

Yoshi's™ Woolly World
Star Fox™ Zero

Nintendo 3DS games:
Super Mario Maker™ for Nintendo 3DS

I own all of those, because I'm a Nintendo fan that's fanboy enough to still use My Nintendo.

Seriously, who are these discounts for?
New Wii U owners (lol)? We've had multiple FE eshop sales in Europe AND they've been discounted before on My Nintendo. What the fuck is this?

No reward program is absolutely perfect. I don't know about Europe, but North American Club Nintendo often saw the same group of games go up from time to time. It got sorta frustrating, but at the same time, people had the who couldn't get them when they were available, had another opportunity, if they do chose to take advantage.

EU CN didn't have digital rewards at all (unless you count ring tones lol) until right at the end when they did the big "spend your stars on stuff because we're closing!"-thing.

Wasn't the super Pokémon mystery dungeon game also for this month for last year?

I swear I almost went for it then. Lol

Ayyy it was with splatoon, Mario kart 7 and Mario Maker. I know they cycle through the games for all the months , but sucks for long term users .

But I guess they gave me a second chance to buy it . Lol

It did iirc, that was the way to get the digital soundtrack for the Xenoblade chronicles special edition!

Holy crap, I lost about 1200 platinum points today. I'm going to lose 470 more (plus 70 gold points) if something good doesn't show up soon. I totally dropped the ball on the Pikmin 3 DLC they had up. I thought I had bought it for some reason.

Some new Metroid-themed rewards in the US:

-50% off Metroid (3DS/Wii U, 250 platinum points)
-30% off Metroid II: Return of Samus (3DS, 10 gold points)
-50% off Metroid: Other M (Wii U, 80 gold points)
-2 Metroid: Samus Returns wallpapers (50 platinum points each)

The first wallpaper is actually really cool, it features all the stages of the Metroid life cycle.

A whole bunch of discounts expired, though, so the selection is even more anemic than usual, particularly for platinum points.

Guys, I want to redeem Swapdoodle DLC, but I don't see the shopping cart icon on screen to take me to the Lesson Store. How do I gain access to the store?

Had this same issue. Took me a week to figure it out...

You have to write two or three notes, essentially finishing up the tutorial-like beginning to the app, for the shopping cart icon to appear and store to be accessible. You can then redeem the codes you obtained via My Nintendo through one of the options within the store.

Minor thing, that Metroid NES thing isn't Wii U or 3DS. It's Wii U and 3DS.

I know because I only needed one of them and now I'm stuck with the just for you banner in the eShop until January.

Presumably the other rewards that list both platforms are similar.

They don't want to give away games and they don't want to do physical items so the only way to redeem this mess is to implement themes on the Wii u and gave awesome exclusive ones on my Nintendo. Can't think of anything else they'd be willing to do that people would actually want to spend coins on.

Yup, figured it out a day after my post. Thanks anyway. I don't even use Swapdoodle, but might as well try a free add-on, to familiarize myself with the app.

I missed it too.

I just logged in to get it and it's gone.

"Guess I'll just get that nice Kirby 3DS theme"

Nope.

Discounts for literally the worst Metroid games.

No discounts for Super, Zero Mission, Fusion or Prime Trilogy. Go figure.

Club Nintendo didn't actually have anything though in its twilight years

Are you kidding? Compared to MyNintendo it was great. I mean, if you cared about the physical rewards it might have been lackluster but for digital games it was awesome.

From Club Nintendo I got the following games for FREE:

3DS:
DKC Returns 3D
Sakura Samurai
Dillon's Rolling Western
Link's Awakening DX
Kirby's Adventure 3D
Excite Bike 3D
Kid Icarus 3D
Mario vs Donkey Kong Minis March Again

Wii U:
Super Mario World
Super Metroid

This was the final Platinum/Gold/Silver reward list for CN:

Platinum Level:

Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS)
Mario Golf: World Tour (3DS)
Mario Kart 7 (3DS)
New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)
Yoshi’s New Island (3DS)
Ultimate NES Remix (3DS)
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U)
NES Remix 2 (Wii U)
Punch-Out!! (Wii U)
Pushmo World (Wii U)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii U)

Platinum/Gold Level:

Crashmo (3DS)
Freakyforms: Your Creations, Alive! (3DS)
Pushmo (3DS)
Super Mario Bros. 3 (3DS)
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (3DS)
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (3DS)
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons (3DS)
The Mysterious Murasame Castle (3DS)
Advance Wars (Wii U)
The Legend of Zelda (Wii U)
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (Wii U)
Metroid Fusion (Wii U)
Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (Wii U)
Super Mario Kart (Wii U)
WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames (Wii U)
Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3 (Wii U)
This is what I've gotten for Free from MyNintendo:

Zelda Picross (3DS)
Metroid Fusion (Wii U)
Flipnote Studio 3D (3DS)

That's it. Notice something? These are all from the launch month, when it seemed MN might actually try to be half as decent as CN.

MyNintendo Launch rewards:

Free games:
My Nintendo Picross – The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (3DS) – 1,000 Platinum Points
Super Mario 64 (Wii U) – 120 Gold Points
New Super Luigi U (Wii U) – 240 Gold Points
Pikmin 3 DLC: Battle Enemies! Stages 7-10 (Wii U) – 30 Gold Points
WarioWare: Touched! (3DS) – 1,000 Platinum Points
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (3DS) – 50 Gold Points
Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii U) – 320 Gold Points
Metroid: Fusion (Wii U) – 85 Gold Points
Super Punch-Out!! (Wii U) – 100 Gold Points

Anyone know how long the discounts stay in effect once redeemed?

I am a little interested in Project Zero 2, which is discounted 40% at 60GP, and I have 40GP expiring this month. The thing is, I currently have so many games to play that I don't know how long it'd take me to get around to playing PZ2, or even if I ever would. Certainly not in this month, and the discount stops being redeemable at the beginning of next month, so I am a little hesitant to put any real money into it right now. But if the discount stays in effect for a while after the reward becomes unavailable at My Nintendo, I might be more interested redeeming it.

It immediately becomes applied to your Nintendo account and expires after 30 days.
