I completely forgot about this game, but now I have a gaming PC so no need for me to wait.
I would be happy to wait for a Switch port though...

Dragon dogma is a better souls game like then the surge?

Dragon's Dogma doesn't play anything like Dark Souls in my opinion. I've never played the Surge, but I love Dark Souls and played all 3 and Bloodborne. If you go in expecting anything like that, you'll be disappointed.

I adore the Combat and Enemy Design in this game (especially the big ones are extremely fun to fight against) but holy shit, it's just so immensely irritating to fight against the same enemies on the same fucking spot only minutes later, because I have to walk the way back after completing the quest...

Only Far Cry 2 was worse in this matter. I couldn't get past this "feature" or whatever this is.

Triple dipping on this. Got the PS3 release, PC release and I'll be buying the PS4 version. Legitimately one of my favorite games of all time. Which is saying something, I suppose.

Same

I've bought DD on PS3, DD:DA on PS3 and then DD:DA on 360

I fucking did my part and then some :)

Man, I miss this era of Capgod soooo much T__T

Dragon's Dogma is definitely not "Souls-like." Its combat are much more flashy and flash paced, more similar to if you think of Devil May Cry RPG's combat system would be.
Agreed. Most hardcore Souls players don't seem to like Dragon's Dogma, at least among my gaming friends.

The combat is much more like Devil May Cry. Which is not a surprise, given that it's by the Devil May Cry guys :)

I put a couple of hours into this on PC and I just don't think I like it.
I found the world to be so bland, boring and undetailled.
I mean I know it's an old game, but it hasn't aged well.

I didn't like the combat that much either. I think I see what they were going for, but it just didnt click with me.

I don't get what people see in this game.
This is coming from a guy who like DMC and the Souls games.

This may be a bit left field, but anyone got any idea how to snag my save file on the psn cloud from DD:DA on ps3? The issue is, i only have a ps4 now, but have have DD:DA on my PC and read you can convert the ps3 save file to work for the pc version. I wish Sony would allow simple pc access to our online storage.

Anyway, i may still triple dip, if it will greater the chances of a true sequel. Shamon, TGS2017!!! Make it happen!!

Open world games don't translate particularly well into demos.

Yet the PS3 demo of Dragon's Dogma was what sold me personally in the game and made me pre-ordered it back then.
I think people should play the old demo (if they still have a PS360) and just imagine how much more awesome it will be at 1080p/60fps.

Anyone know why the physical edition in Japan is showing up as requires constant internet connection and a japanese ip ?

Since when has this been online only etc

Capcom could easily work the tutorial Arisen section into a demo. Even better, add the awesome character creator and let players transfer them to the full version :D

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
First time ive heard about this game, looks nice, will i like it if i like souls games?

There is a lot to like about Dragon's Dogma, but you get far too OP very fast which really killed off the tension and thrills of the early hours. I hear the Dark Arisen expansion improves the challenge level quite a bit though.

This will be my first time playing. I missed it last gen. I cant wait. Everything ive seen and heard really speaks to me as i am a big fan of traditional/high fantasy.

Significantly, so much so that it made me realize how much the main game lost due to being so easy to dominate. Bitterblack Isle is fucking awesome, a lot of my fondest memories in the game involve the various things in there.

Is there confirmation yet that it'll run in 1080p/60fps?
It doesn't even reach stable 1080p 60fps with high settings on a equivalent hardware PC like with gtx 750ti (overclocked) + i3 cpu so i really doubt it and there was no mention of 60fps anywhere. It's a more demanding open world game

But still compared to last gen version, console version now stable 30fps compared to 20fps, high settings 1080p compared to like 640p + letterbox with very low settings. Big upgrade still and at a great price

BBI borders on cheese by time you get to the town on the lap to the final boss. I didn't enjoy the BBI story in comparison to the vanilla one.

No way it runs at 1080/60. Its too demanding of a game. It will probably be 1080p with a few bells and whistles at 30fps. It will be a big upgrade over the last gen version which ran at like 640 with letterboxing on lowest possible settings and ran at like 20fps (if your lucky. Most of the time it ran at like 15 fps)

Really late to reply to this, but the demo on the 360 is actually what persuaded me to skip it. I felt that the demo was just really bad, and it took a bunch of random gifs on GAF six months later to have me take a second look.

If this site is anything to guage that by, then the opinion is either mixed, or more in favor of the combat than anything. The systems are very different, but both are satisfying.

Regardless, the game is nothing like any of the Souls games, yet has constantly been compared to them since its launch. The only real similarities would be atmosphere in some areas, and occasional difficulty spikes (which isn't the only qualifier that makes something "Souls like") in the vanilla version. The Souls vibe picked up quite a bit in Dark Arisen, but it really seemed only that Capcom was inspired to expand the "dark" designs of some of the previous dungeons. That's about it.

Might grab this. I LOVED Dragon's Dogma and never played Arisen. I want to hold out for a Switch version but I'll get this on PS4.

Can't wait for this. Apparently it's sub-£16 with Simply Games so I'll probably get it there. This'll be my third time buying it (or technically my fourth if you count the free PS+ version?) but I don't mind as it's one of my favourite games in the genre ever.

So, dragons dogma or monster Hunter world?

DD is a budget release and you'll have 6+ months to save up for Monster Hunter, so in this case why not both?

As for the OT name:

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (PS4/XBO) |OT| Return of the King

What have Capcom remasters been like? I get the feeling mostly shoddy? Want to buy this but loathed to if it's not a solid remaster.

ps3ud0 8)

I think it heavily varies by game. I believe DMC4 and DmC were excellent, while their Dead Rising ports were pretty rudimentary by comparison. But this will be my first Capcom remaster this gen, so I'm not speaking from first-hand experience.

Maybe someone can give me advice here. I bounced off the first game because I hated having to run back and forth to do quests.

Is that still in Dark Arisen? No fast travel?

Fast travel in the form of usable items that transport you to fast travel shrines you place yourself
