So Sean Spicer went to the Emmys today...

Lol, he's probably relieved that he's not in that white house anymore.

Also, lol at the sensitive people who don't have a sense of humor, my goodness.

Maybe you can, but that kind of stuff will never be funny to me. When you're a member of one of the groups that this administration has fucked with none of this is funny and it never will be.

I am a member of a few groups the administration has fucked with. Don't confuse finding something funny with not being terrified of it. Laughter's a good coping mechanism.

Typically if you're terrified of something you aren't going to be laughing at it. Laughing at shit like this normalizes the behavior which in turn makes the actions more acceptable.

He didn't have to be in that White House in the first place. He CHOSE to be there. Just like he's choosing to keep his mouth shut about what he saw in the White House now. People need to stop looking for sympathetic figures in a White House full of trash.

And I won't apologize for being sensitive over the guy who got up every day and defended the Muslim ban to the press, as if that's a bad thing to be sensitive about. I mean HAHA DEFENDING THE POLICIES OF A RACIST DEMAGOGUE LOL

Remember that time he said the Muslim ban wasn't really a ban or that Hitler wasn't that bad because he didn't use chemical weapons?

Oh but he's telling semi-self-effacing jokes now, s'all good.

My thing about "just doing your job" boils down to what you just said. He CHOSE to be there. I used to work in the public sector and I was told to do something that was just completely against my morals and I literally resigned on the spot. I left the meeting and sent my resignation. He shouldn't be commended for leaving when he only did so because he didn't get his way when Scaramucci was hired.

I want to know if Trump himself told Spicey to say those thinga.

The bit would have actually been pretty funny if they had Melissa McCarthy do it. Actually having Spicer do it was basically rewarding him for selling his soul to protect the ego of our shitheel president. I don't think people who work for Trump should be damned forever, but I think we need to see some form of atonement from these people before we reward them by making their dreams come true on national television. Instead of giving Spicer the time of his life, maybe take him to task for the shitty things he acted to enable.

Jesus, it's not like he quit working for Trump because he had some crisis of conscience. He quit because a guy called The Mooch bullied him too much.

I got more out of the audience reaction shots than the joke itself. Can I get that one lady's reaction as a reaction GIF please?

I still can't believe that there was a guy who calls himself The Mooch that worked at the White House for -14 days.

He was pretty funny though.

It’s more than I make right now so yeah probably

I would rather be homeless than be Trump's mouthpiece.

Honestly could give less of a fuck. Hollywood doesn't represent my viewpoint on him being a Trump crony and it shouldn't color yours. Sean Spicer was a useless mouthpiece that no one really bought from the get go. People more worried on social media about 'normalizing' Sean Spicer than the Republicans drafting another heathcare bill to kill off the poor. Best thing for people like Spicey is to ignore him now. Let Hollywood be idiotic if they want to. There's bigger fish to fry imo.

I don't find that to be true. Nor do I think it normalizes it. Unless you think satire is normalization.

Generally, sure, but I think this particular situation crosses a pretty clear line to normalizing it. If you're going to get personable with one of the perpetrators of the horror show, and display that relationship to the world, there better be more to it than a toothless nonpolitical bit.

Dude you are here posting in this thread too.

Absolutely disgusting. Hollywood celebrities are happy to pretend they're part of "The Resistance" when it suits them, but the second one of these slimebags wants to hang out with them, they can't cozy up fast enough.

I know what you're getting at, but it's important to keep in mind that not all Hollywood celebrities are the same or acting as a single hive mind. Some are good people, some are bad people, just like any other group of human beings.

The fact that he showed up at all is bad enough in terms of rewarding and rehabilitating shitty conduct.

But then for his gag to be based around how the administration he worked for lied to the public with impunity? It's just infuriating.

Lying to taxpayers is not funny, period.

Because I wanted to post my opinion on not giving a fuck about Spicy. You gotta a problem with that?

I'm not sure what a bigger distraction from focusing on the healthcare bill would be to you: Posting on social media about sean spicer, or posting on social media about how much you don't care about sean spicer.

You know what is worst is that this isn't 20 years latter and we are looking back and having a laugh at some shitty revised history it's our present reality and the adminstration is still actively making our lives complete shit. Fuck whoever thought this was a good idea.

I have a problem with you telling others that we shouldn't care about Spicey while you're posting about him too.

But I'm not telling you to, I'm just saying my own opinion and how I see people reacting to this. I yield if that's what you're fishing for. Remind me not to come in and have a different mindset in these threads then.

I saw it on the news this morning. I think it is fucked up.

Hey, remember our old silly pal Spicer? Let's just forget about all the times he lied to the public and said that even Hitler didn't chemical weapons. We're all good now.

He's complicit in shaping the fucked up world we live in right now. Why give him this. I don't understand?
it's just a prank bro lmao.

Too soon for him to do something like this. He could maybe get away with it years down the line; hopefully after the orange dumbass is out of office.

Personally I can't say I'm super offended by it as others, as I never took spicer that serious. It's definitely not a great gag considering all the bullshit surounding him.

The motherfucker denies Hitler using chemical weapons. If he's not a vile piece of shit, he's a stupid piece of shit. Either way, he's not someone who bring out on stage for some pointless fucking gag.

Spicer getting treated like some "cute public figure", or any of Trump's cabinet, is a slap in the face of every horrific thing these fuckers have said and done

In retrospect this was a really poor decision. How exactly is it ok to bring on someone who willingly participated to try and destroy faith in the media to act like it's a joke and didn't have real consequences.

Like we all agree that Trump appearing and making a joke about him deporting DACA recipients would be a horrible idea. Why should a past top member of his administration get to basically pretend like nothing happened

Did NO-ONE use their time on stage to talk shit about this human waste daring to show his face in public? Not even Charlie Brooker???
