Sony TGS Conference 2017 Thread - Hey Dante, will we meet again?

That is Capcom's modus operandi this gen: announce a game at e3, focus market attention on it for the next seven or eight months, release it January/February.

There's no doubt their next major title will be revealed after MHW comes out. The real question is whether that's DMC, REmake 2, Deep Down, something else entirely.

It's definitely REmake 2 because Itsuno already said this.

PSX.

Probably best to forget about Deep Down since MH World has killed it's point.

Hokuto ga Gotoku is only releasing in Japan in February (unless of course you live there in which case this point was useless but still)

the last few yakuza games have a traditional chinese version as well released on the same day, this is probably the same

It was a good TGS-tier conference. A few new announcements which were surprising but not mindblowing, a few updates on big upcoming titles, a bunch of release dates, new trailers, mostly JP-centric. They didn't even have to roll out ForwardWorks to pad stuff.

If you expected more than that, or you expected DMC5, well then, blame yourself or God.

Main PlayStation division is practically distancing itself from ForwardWorks. There's no co-branding, co-marketing, etc.

It's basically like Sony Online Entertainment again in terms of separation of management and marketing support.

Sony is doing an anime streaming service like Netlfix and that creature was part of the service original content (he was basically a discount Yokai from Yokai watch)

Guessing the lack of threads about announcements is illustrative of how lacklustre this event was?

I had completely forgotten a Sony TGS conference happened. Makes me laugh at the bets in Easy Allies' betting special and how optimistic they were!

That's a damn shame for me, because although MH World looks cool and all and I might try it out as my first MH game, I still think Deep Down could have something that really clicks with me. A third person dungeon crawler with deep tactical action combat with rpg mechanics, traps and puzzles, and a lot of loot.

There wasn't much new stuff and for example the SE Front Missionesque title was just a cryptic tease.

If you're in it for new info on titles then it was a great conference though.

Hokuto no Gotoku, Monster Hunter World, 13 Sentinels LIVES.

And as far as new announcements go, I liked the look of that cryptic tease + new EDF game.

Look at it this way. People were expecting PSX and they got a mid year Direct.

I've just started watching the conference... and I want to strangle the fool who came up with the rap song opening. This is the most obnoxious and cringe-worthy... thing... I've ever experienced.

Definitely the worst possible way to open a conference.

The last time TGS was exciting was when metal gear solid 4 was announced exclusively for the PS3. Other then that the shits soft fam.

Seems like a solid conference. Yea not really any megatons but that should be expected at psx. Even Paris games week will be similar with solid reveals but not megatons.

Yep it was solid.

As far as modern TGS events go, this one seems stellar. Kind of funny, I don't think anyone predicted any of the actual new announcements but they were still solid.

Why are expectations so high from all of you? there are soooo many games out soon and a ton more in the near future. Chill out.

so we got a cool teaser, MonHun release date and a bunch of already announced stuff

I simply cannot believe I missed my daughter's first day of primary school and got into a huge fight with the wife just so I could stay and watch this shit...
Even if they dropped bombs you can watch a fucking conference later on demand.

I think it was a bit of a rubbish conference to be honest, but my expectations were kept looooooow after last year, so it's fine. It's pretty telling that the most excited I got was when I saw Toro and Kuro floating up in the air to the Gravity Rush soundtrack and realised that watching a concert in VR would be a pretty cool experience. Shame we're not ever getting that outside of Japan though.

I mean, I can't even get mad, because it's pretty much known that Sony will be putting way more weight behind their PGW and PSX shows this year, so whatever. It's not like Shawn Layden can get away with devoting half an hour to rehashed trailers that we already saw months ago. PGW and PSX are gonna be good this year, call it a hunch.

I'm sorry but this is hilarious.

I said it before the conference, people were just asking for disappointment with those expectations.

Anyway, I'm sad that we didn't get to see anything about Project Dawn or Project Awakening. I legit expected at least one of them to be there. No new DoA was also disappointing :(
