Giant Bomb |OT32| I've been meaning to love a boat

As a former NEET, the first half of Chaos Head was great in showing how awful that lifestyle really is. It's a shame that the story never delivers on the premise and instead goes for a chunni ending. I'm willing to give the sequel a chance since I've heard good things.

So why would we want to make them play that instead of mario sunshine?
Exactly. Not to mention they're all probably gonna play it in their free time, so that'd take a lot of the surprise out; "Oh hey I got this one at home last week."

I mean I'd still watch it because it'd be a new gbeast feature and the SMS format is great.

in the unfinished they already mentioned that the controls are mandatory motion

so you know it's going to play just as bad as Sunshine
None of them were sure about it, they were just going off of what they played at events. I believe it's been confirmed that you can repeatably tap a button instead of shaking the joy cons to roll, for instance.

Plus Galaxy had that shit and I think they all still loved it.

I should probably refresh the details for myself actually but it's gonna be weird playing Child knowing details from Head that most people playing it in English probably won't?

Like
the Committee of 300, and that the earthquake wasn't just some earthquake, and that Gero Froggy isn't just some mascot thing.

and I guess Di-swords existing

Started The Adventure Zone about a month and a half ago, and I have just one Bombcast-length episode left to go. I've enjoyed the whole thing but it really got better than I ever would have thought toward the end. Those frigging McElroys are infuriatingly talented.

I have... so very much GB stuff to catch up on. This has been the first time since before going premium in 2013 that I've actually missed the podcasts. (Though it's good timing as Destiny 2 the perfect kind of game to have GB #content accompaniment.)

I wouldn't mind it being played a little more straight, but I like the dumb Xbox event video. I always enjoy seeing the crew out and about.
While I still enjoyed it, the podcast got significantly worse when Griffin decided to get rid of all semblance of D&D and improv and turned it into a serious fictional podcast story he wanted to tell. It's such a big shame. The Austin, TX live show they uploaded a couple weeks ago shows how good it could still be.

I hope the show goes back to its roots next season.

Eh I think that was more (their perception of) D&D's fault than anything; it felt like he thought he needed to make this grand campaign and then by the end it didn't really work with the playstyle they'd fallen into. I'll say I think I enjoyed the finale (and Stolen Century) more than most people though; it's Petals to the Metal that was so slow that I stopped listening for months.

I'm very excited for them to stop playing D&D and actually play things that fit collaborative storytelling better, particularly as they've explicitly said getting better at that between seasons is their goal.

The best arc was the train arc.

And I really hope they don't drop the D&D aspect. I would still listen, but I love comedy D&D podcasts. And shows. Harmonquest is great.

More or less agreed but I mainly because I like mysteries and specifically Murder on the Orient Express a lot.

It won't be D&D; they're definitely playing different systems. I assume the blend of comedy, story, and mechanics will be better as a result though. The only positive D&D really had for them was giving them spells to pull out of their ass. I find D&D rules and fights really boring and depending on the systems they try things could be a lot more dynamic,

basically I'm really happy that Griffin's looking to FatT as an influence

Speaking of Harmonquest it moved to VRV after Seeso closed down right? I think I have a 30 day free trial on there I need to use soon.

PUBG is pretty fun when you're not trying to win or kill but aspire to be as petty as you can be. Like watching a guy at the end of the zone running from car to car as you snipe out the tires right before he gets to them. Then I watch him until "so-and-so died outside the zone" pops up.

When is TAZ mean to get good? The first two eps are pretty boring! and I generally really like the McElroys.

First arc is just them doing a D&D oneshot with no real planning behind it, so it's kinda rough.

I'd say a few episodes in it gets better and the arc we're talking about is the first one after the oneshot + interlude that sets up the overall plot. I think the arc after that is bad at times but after that it's good again.

So far Matt Rorie's Alpha Protocol is really bad

and I just played VTMB for the first time a few months ago so I played a modern day rpg with bad shooter controls and this is WAY worse

I was always under the impression GB's love for Alpha Protocol was weird rose-tinted nostalgia or a meme, like the burnout paradise reverence

All the gameplay about Alpha Protocol is bad, the story and character interactions are kinda cool, you'll have a better time looking up some of the goofy dialogue stuff on youtube.

Interest piqued.

Alpha Protocol is legit one of my ten favorite games of the last gen. The gameplay isn't great. It's best played as a stealth game. Max out pistols and the stealth stat and pick off enemies with silenced pistol headshots from a billion feet away. It's actually kinda satisfying how powerful you are.

The real draw is the dialogue system. While it's a pretty generic spy conspiracy story, but it's not something you see in very many games. The dialogue system, though, is fantastic and probably the best in any game ever.

I just picked up a brand new PS3 copy of AP on amazon for like $10. I need to dig out my PS3 and hook it up, and I know the PS3 version, as was the case last gen, is probably terrible, but I'm still looking forward to it.

I find myself skipping the Bombcast these days in favor of the Beastcast and the Jay & Dan podcast 3.0.

That's too bad because sometimes the Bombcast offers more nuanced talk about a topic. It's a balance, really. You come to the beastcast for the humor and half hour long tangents about Mars colonization or scamming your way through college, and you come to Bombcast for low-energy (but often insightful) games talk broken up by 60 seconds of Monster Hunter and sporadic screaming from Ben.

You should not, Bombcast is good.
Beastcast can be more fun, but they do not have the competent games talk.

One recent trend I don't like from the beastcast is that Vinny seems keen to reduce the "what you've played" section for some reason? Like they barely talked about it last week. It was mostly them riffing on the news and emails.

Yep, this as well. Or just shoot jokes about it - which can be frustrating.

Yeah it's actually extremely frustrating. I come to the Beastcast purely to hear them talk about what they've been playing - the news and emails are #2 in my eyes. Maybe it's an attempt to differentiate it from the way the Bombcast is structured?

How the bombcast handled the pdp snafu shows how much more capable they are of talking about the more serious topics revolving around gaming's shittier corners. If you aren't listening then you wouldn't know.

Oh don't get me wrong I love the emails section but yeah, I would like a longer "what you've played" section.

Vinny also sounded fucking baked last week so I dunno. That's fun too.

It's great.

I used to spend entire rounds going around destroying clearly parked cars and running away / camping the angry drivers.

They get so many news wrong that I wish they'd just talk about what they played to be honest.

Scrap emails and corrections too, while you're at it.

GBeast must homebrew their own grain alcohol and then take a shot everytime they get a moon.

I'm sure this will be absolutely safe and no one will go blind from this idea.
