Avabel Online, a mobile MMORPG (there are MMO on mobile now ?) is being ported to Steam, PS4 and Switch : http://nintendoeverything.com/avabel-online-heading-to-switch/
It's interesting, I don't know how popular the game is but we're seeing more and more mobile games being ported over Switch (or consoles in general, in this case).

Yeah, Lineage II revolution is a UE4 mobile MMO that is doing gangbusters (for now). Was released in Japan last month and this month Netmarble is bringing out a Global version

We'll see more UE4 on mobile sooner than later as the newest mobile chips eg Snapdragon get better GPU performance

3DS is 7 years old? Jfc where did the time go?

Not 7yo yet, talking about years on the market.

2011: Year 1
2012: Year 2
2013: Year 3
2014: Year 4
2015: Year 5
2016: Year 6
2017: Year 7
2018: Year 8

It's actually pretty impressive that the 3DS has several "notable" releases lined up in its 8th year on the market. It could even reach Year 10, but I think it will be discontinued during Year 9 (2019), if not Year 8.

Apparently MHXX Director said MHXX for Switch is Switch's 'first' Monster Hunter title in the latest Nintendo Dream magazine.

First, Kojima (Producer) says "Hope you'll enjoy it on 3DS first" on MHXX release day, and now this...

MHXX staff really have a loose tongue, don't they?...

inb4 this threads get 20 additional page before the end of the day, thx MonHun discussions

Oh I understood what you meant. Just crazy to think its been on the market so long and still getting lots of relevant releases.

What's the issue? We know it is the first one. Yoshi's Island also was the first Yoshi platformer on SNES. Doesn't mean there will be another one.

Actually, Super Mario World was the first plataformer with yoshi on SNES..

SO, THERES A CHAAANNNCE!

I suppose with MHW coming out only 10 months after MHXX, chances of another one in ~December 2018 don't seem as unlikely as I first thought.

Eh, if there's a MH coming to Switch anytime soon it won't be that soon. Capcom isn't even prepared enough to port a Zelda clone that's been ported everywhere to the only platform with an active Zelda audience on time. They're not going to have a new MH game ready in less than a year.

Do you really think it is possible that there won't be more Monster Hunter games on Nintendo Switch?

If it's happening it's been planned out ahead of time. The remasters and emulation collections weren't, but Capcom's seemingly been caught off guard by Switch's global success. With MH there might've more preplanning since it's more a Japan and handheld centric property than stuff like Dragon's Dogma, Okami or Disney NES games.

A quick Gen 5 conversion/adaptation might also help explain the lack of interest in an XX localization, especially if Capcom maintains World's global release strategy.

If they didn't believe the Switch was going to be a success enough to plan cheap-ass collections and ports for it they sure as hell didn't plan for a brand new MH either.

I mean, personally speaking, after how they treated the entirety of XX I really don't trust Capcom to do anything of worth on the Switch with the MH IP. Amd as a western fan I know we aint even gonna get to play it anyway lol.

probably the 2nd title will be Monster Hunter Stories
I would weep

Yeah, the radio silence sucks. I'm sure Japan will get more games, but the fact that western Switch owners are met with silence doesn't instill much confidence.
Will be dreadful if we get to the end of the year and there is still no word of a western Switch MH.

Too late!
Nice catch.

I really doubt that Stories will get a port at this point, especially now that it has been released in the west as well.
I can see the game getting a sequel on Switch if the original does decently in the west though.

Capcom is stupid and has a terrible strategy, but it's pretty clear by now that there'll be some MonHun release in fall 2018. Gen 5 Switch MonHun makes sense after the lack of port of World (which shouldn't have been hard if it had been planned) and that basic XX port released months late.

They didn't expect it to be a global success. That doesn't mean they weren't hedging their bets for Japan though, they might've been expecting it to be 3DS 2.0.

Both the infamous leak/rumor (questionable as it is) and matrix (leaked World stuff early) have said there was already more MH in the works for Switch.

So they are gonna have a Japan only portable line and the West will get the World line I imagine. Thank god I'm out of this series, handling is just bullshit.

I think both platforms will get localized versions.
World as GaaS, and Switch as the usual G version localized way later...

Still terrible handling of the franchise obviously.

Would be leaving money on the table at that point. I highly doubt Capcom would go down that route

There is no way Monster Hunter Switch stays only in Japan.

If they are going to release a G version or update of World in a year and have it simultaneously released where will they find the time to localize a Switch version? I also thought there was 0 chance they didn't localize XX but they prioritized MHW over it. I don't have any faith Capcom can concurrently support 2 series of MH across 4 platforms and localize them all.

See the above. No reason to believe they will localize it.

And yet by that logic we would be playing XX wouldn't we? Yall should not be so certain. This discussion wouldn't even be happening if Capcom was predictable would it?

Even if that were the original plan, it wouldn't be now with how Switch is doing globally.

I also think what exactly they call the possible Switch 5th Gen depends on how World does upfront. If it's more successful they'll retain the World branding, if sales are disappointing it may get Peace Walkered.

That is true, I'm giving them a benefit of the doubt where they deserve little.

Monster Hunter World is a riskier project than RE7. Capcom would prioritize everything over it in order not to lose a single sale.

Wouldn't be surprised if that's mostly the MHXX (now dedicated MH portable) staff acting on their own due to the lack of backing they get from overall Capcom.
