yeah i think i saw some familiar moves, but doesn't really matter anyway, this game feels more aimed for new MH players compared to veterans

I can get over the fact that we have have yet one more rathian body type monster drop in the bucket, its style and puff up gimmick more than won me over, but like... it's A BAT. Am I crazy, I can't be the only one who always thought of the Nargacuga skeletal structure as the bat type, right? That's literally how bats crawl on the ground all spread out, and yet we finally have a straight up bat monster, and it trots around like a chicken?? I ain't mad, just really thrown through a loop.

But I can't wait to see more of this Coral zone, every monster there so far is freaking gorgeous, and I noticed it's the only one so far that has yet to hold a returning monster. I'm having a hard time imagining what would even fit in there... my heart says Astalos or Mizutsune but I don't wanna get my hopes up.

I'd imagine something as recent as the MHGen flagship monsters like Astalos and Mizu are probably off the table. Capcom seem really focused on the whole: Hunter's have discovered a "New World" angle for the scenario of this game and are showcasing that by limiting the amount of returning monsters and introducing brand new ones instead.

Floofybat is my spirit animal.

Even though Jan is close, it's still far away! Super hyped for World and playing with some new MHGaf peeps.

I bet they made that coral area just to troll the fans who want the underwater level back. :p
Who want that shit back lol!

Maybe they really wanted to bring underwater back but regained their sanity at some point during development and decided to just use the assets they already made for a cool land level! :D

It's interesting - the more I see this game, the less nterested I am actually become in it, which is actually the reverse of my initial hype when it was first revealed.

I think one of the first things that turned me off of it was the fact that the new art direction for the faces has moved in such a "serious" or "realistic" direction that it loses some of the anime charm that the series has had for a long time.

I realize that MonHun hasn't always been about about anime - if at all - but the shift certainly seems out of keeping with what I've come to expect from the series thus far.

I'd love it if the brought back water combat.

What is less 'anime' about world?

So kind of a dumb question but as someone who this will actually be their first Monster Hunter(besides the crossover with Metal Gear)
MvCI had me wondering is the Monster Hunter girl's gear likely representative of the game or is that just a made up design for MvC?

It's from one of the iconic gear set of the game.

The "new" look for humans is how they always looked in the series CGs though! Their in game models were more coping with the hardware limitation than an anime look!

I'm going to chime in and say I enjoyed water combat, too. Lagiacrus and Ceadeus were enjoyable to fight despite the controls not being optimal.

Wut? They look like they always have, except now they're not pixelated puke.

I am actually in the opposite camp from you. At first I wasn't really interested hearing the rumors (about how 'Westernized' it was going to be) -> E3 reveal which was optimistic but still feeling off -> gamescom/TGS which I felt really good and became day-1 purchase.

I think the faces are pretty similar to what they have been, in terms of comparison with CG stuff since the actual in-game models were puke and can't really tell shit in terms of their faces.

The game still has

cute Airu

and stuff like cooking meat and food eating, which are about all the charm I needed.

The rest are about keeping the feel of great MonHun combat, which they seemed to have done successfully.

This reminds me of some criticizing PS4 DQ11 look even tho it's the closest thing to the CGs.

This is MHW's version of the armor she's wearing in MvCI:

Though you can't see the front side of the female armor(male/female versions look a bit different).

This is the great sword she's using, we don't know yet if it will be in MHW:

If she gets a DLC costume it will probably be this:

Nice, thanks.

I was already sold on this then I saw the MvCI trailer for her which I though she is by far one of the best looking characters, had me even more interested.
