In Gears of war 4 the Gnasher has a sound that 100% makes it clear that whatever you pointed it at won't be getting back up .

I hate the gnasher. It singlehandedly made the multiplayer unfun and whenever Epic tried to innovate, the fans whinged and whinged until Epic nerfed everything new to practical uselessness so it'd be a gnasher fest again. Bleh.

Hello.

Please send me recommendations for October.

<sends Destiny 2 recommendation>

A reminder that you can win a free Steam copy of Cosmic Star Heroine by participating in the voting stage of the currently Essential RPG thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1434280&page=5

Robert from Zeboyd games was kind enough to donate 200 keys to thread participants who post lists with comments. I will be reserving them on a first come first served basis to those who vote following the rules.

We currently have 85 unreserved keys for Cosmic Star Heroine remaining (as of post #409 in the Essential RPG thread. There is a lot of chit chat in addition to voting). The essential RPG voting stage ends on October 13th, but the free keys will probably run out before then.

If you haven't read or participated in one of my threads before, The Essential RPG threads aim to introduce GAF members to new RPGs. People's voting lists also serve as recommendations, with several posters giving detailed reasons why you should be playing their favourite games. At the end of the vote, I consolidate everything into a top 50 list that gives a bunch of information for each game (including cost, available platforms, key staff, OST highlights, etc). The aggregate list is good for less experienced RPG gamers, while the individual recommendations are good for everyone.

If this sounds interesting, make sure to participate. More voices will lead to a stronger end product. Just make sure to read the rules.

I will probably leave another reminder in these threads next weekend. It's been 900 posts since my last reminder, so I assume that I don't qualify as spamming :p

I don't take it that System Shock 1 would qualify as an RPG for the purposes of the thread? I mean, it's often called an RPG, but it doesn't have most of the common characteristics of RPGs.

Should the thread title just be STEAM | October 2017- Fall Ys Beginning since Ys never actually came out?

I'm also Ok with STEAM | October 2017- What Evil Assassins Do Within the Shadows of War

Would the new ipad plus 12.9 be relatively up to date for a few years? How does it compare to the new phones? Use android phones but it'd be nice to have tablet versions of Darkest Dungeon, Sunless Sea, and the like and the Surface Pro tablet versions are rare.

Happy birthday! Unfortunately, i can't follow your advice for two reasons:
1. I'm still playing D:OS1 co-op with a friend.
2. I couldn't buy it for myself even if i wanted to, since i got it from a giveaway in the Steam thread when it first released on Early access :p
Make no mistake though, i'd be buying it for sure if that wasn't the case :)

Yes. It’s damn powerful.

Go check out the iOS gaming OT.

Hey, quick question: Is there any way to plug in my headphones into an Xbox One controller and have the sound come through wirelessly? I bought a stupid headset adapter thinking that was what was missing.

AFAIK you need to connect via USB or use the official Xbox wireless dongle. It doesn't work over bluetooth.

Whenever I see Code Vein it always looks terrible. Maybe it will continue to improve with time, but generally publishers don't show off footage until a game is in its final stages of development.

Code Vein gameplay starts at 53 minutes, .hack gameplay starts around 1 hour and 51 minutes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ksCRic4wJM

They both look terrible.

They really need to stop showing Code Vein footage at this early version, it'll only hurt the game in the long run.

The .hack game combat looks even more repetitive than Tales of games. Just spam those flashy moves to win. It could be boring after a while.

Hopefully it isnt too bad.

Dont have that many wRPGs if any (well there is Mass Effect 2).

Maybe in the future when I start playing more I will add them in the future threads.

I keep putting Stellaris: Utopia DLC in my cart, but taking it out.

$16 bucks on sale seems a lot for a DLC - especially when Paradox is notorious for over-pricing the content for what it provides. About half of what is discussed in the DLC was actually included free in a patch update (factions, traditions, etc).

I guess I'm asking for help on making the decision to get it or not.

Bleh, did the final mission of DE:MD twice in order to get different cheevos, but the ending is like 30 unskippable minutes.

Even DE:HR the achievements for the different endings wouldn't unlock for me.

And why does the news anchor keep saying "methinks they doth protest too much?" What an odd catchphrase for a freaking anchor. Like, don't end several pieces in a row with it, lol.

STEAM | October 2017 - Get me 100 Nazi Scalps!

On that note, where's the cheapest one can pick up Wolfenstein II? ITAD shows $46 but I'm hoping maybe there's somewhere cheaper, maybe even the Deluxe Edition too.

It's $38 and some change on CD Keys. The DDE is digital-only.

How well does Quake hold up? Never played any of them and will likely play through the series the next time it is on sale.
The first Quake is still solid in its single player, I still enjoy it. The mission packs aren't great though. Quake 2 is a bit bland to go back to, but it had coloured lighting so it was something we could look pats at the time. Avoid Quake 2's mission packs at all costs. It should be noted that Quake 1 and Quake 2 are completely unrelated. Quake 3 doesn't have a traditional single player, it's just a variety of bot matches. Quake 4 is a direct sequel to Quake 2, and it's also pretty bland.

Quake 1 definitely gets my recommendation of the lot. The rest are firmly skippable as far as single player content goes.

How so?

I never got the chance to play it, and it's not available on Steam now.

It minimized the good parts of Fable 1 & 2 while introducing shocking bad interphase design choices. For an RPG, they decided that you don't need to see anything like health or how many health potions you have. To see that or anything like a map, you have to exit the world and go into this other worldly room to walk around. It makes no sense why this happens in game and it takes so long to load and unload that area that you actively hate doing it.
The game itself was less fun, way less polished, and over all felt like something that the people who made it were forced to do rather than wanted to do.
