Warframe Bundle Glitched Steam 9.99 instead of $140 [Dead]

A GM just said in server chat to not spend any of the currency and that Digital Extremes is going to release a statement in a few.

They can't control that though.

Some people will have already spent it.

Either way, my game hasn't downloaded so I can't spend it even if I wanted to. =/

Someone on WF reddit stated that in cases like these the company gets the intended amount and steam ends up eating the difference. I'm hoping the number of these cases is low enough that they're gonna let us keep the plat lol.

This isn't even a drop in the bucket for Valve.

If that's the case, I can understand cause this was a ton of money practically being given away, depending on how many people got in on it.

The only correction that would benefit both the devs and the buyer is a full refund to the buyer.

Seriously? That purchase should not have gone through then. 😮

It probably should, but it's easy to miss as price isn't locked until last step and if you're not careful (or in hurry), easy to miss. Sucks tho. (and there should really be double warning about this).

Here's hoping I can sell enough trading cards to get this before it gets fixed.

You can always lock price for 72 hours by failing purchase, doesn't matter if it's fixed if you do this. (unless they cancel saved carts).

Like this.

There has not been any official DE statement yet. Any messages appearing in chat are by chat moderators and they aren't the voice of the company. Most of them are volunteers I believe.

Even if they take back the plat money, is the other stuff in the bundle still worth $9?

Yes, between the Boosters and the cosmetics that are locked behind the $50 dollar access pack.

I mean "worth" i guess is a little subjective.

Errr... email told me I paid 9$

Wanted to make sure so I looked at my CC on my bank website and it looks like steam actually took the full 140$?

Guess i'm gonna need to have a chat with steam support. The fuck?

Just checked my CC and I was only charged 9 bucks

Just to point out again for anyone that has already purchased and has a receipt:

Once a sale has been completed on a digital storefront and the goods provided (i.e. linked to your account), the sale is final and cannot be legally revoked. If a customer subsequently performs a chargeback this counts as voiding of the original contract and as such the seller will revoke the licence.

Thats bullshit, and if you want to test it buy something digitally from anywhere then do a credit card chargeback and see what happens.

In this case buyers are almost certainly fine, because steam are very good about honoring pricing errors

Well, they can either honor the purchase and have me as a new player, or not and not have me as a new player :p

Same here.
So we have any grounds here at all though?

On the Xbox store a year or two back a game was accidentally given away free, and Microsoft then removed it from the accounts of those that took advantage. However in that situation there was no exchange of value as no money crossed hands, and as such it could be argued that no contractual agreement had been made to which both parties were legally bound. This situation is different as you legally bought a product advertised at a specific price.
Thing is though I bought the product at a different price than specified and got charged full price.

Do you realize how terrible that would look?

DE (presumably) makes a mistake, some people take advantage of it and spend some plat, DE revokes said plat and turns around and bans the player. How does that make any sense?

The negative plat issue is a thing when people get plat from a shady source, not when there is a pricing error on Steam.

They almost certainly won't punish people for this. It would make them look so bad.

That's what I think too, and Digital Extremes has a good reputation overall so I highly doubt they would do something like that, but it is possible for individuals to fall through the cracks like that in online games.

How is it bullshit? That's literally what I said.

By doing a chargeback the seller could legally contest it and try to claim funds, it's just that most digital sellers can't be bothered and just void the transaction and/or ban the account until it's repaid.

How good was this bundle? How long will the platinum last?

If you don't buy any skins - a long, long time. Most of the desirable mods are 5-15 plat on player market, potatoes and slots are 20 or 25 in the store if I remember correctly. As a new player these are the important things to you, the rest is fluff.

This would set a regular user for quite a while unless you were a spending fiend.

There are a handful of things that can go for much, much more than that in the player market.

No, I paid with Steam wallet funds and it only detracted $9.

It is a huge load of platinum.

For most people, that's effectively a lifetime supply as long as you don't start buying new frames outright (which can get really spendy).

Thanks - should have bought it even though I don't play WF.

Hopefully they honour it.

Basically they'll either have my £6.75 and my playing the game, possibly recommending it to friends, or they get nothing and I never play it.

There's really only one solution that benefits everyone.

I bought it and it is activated on my account, so i have the goods.

Sure but you don't need the exotic stuff when you start out. Prime mods for example are great but until you have a maxed out frame with potato and few formas installed you don't really need them, and likely can't even fit them in. By the time someone new to the game reaches that point they'll have a better sense of plat's value and how long it will last them.

Best thing to do is contact valve directly, let them know it was listed at a different price and that you are unhappy to be billed X amount instead.

damn...
I would try to contact support either way and tell them the price at checkout was 9$... Makes no sense. usually they tell you the price changed if you checkout and they give you another chance

Plus it also tells you the changed price but it didn't do that for me. I opened a ticket and made a note of it.

Checked Paypal, and I was only charged the $9, so I think I'm good there.

As far as them revoking the frame and platinum, I get it, but if they go that route, they need to issue refunds as well.

Far as I know once you buy something for the listed price it's a done deal, granted this may vary from region to region but most places are pretty strict about these such of things. In the Sates it might be weaker though cause....well corporations are more important than people.

Quick and transparent communication about this minutes after-the-fact is appreciated. I hope people end up enjoying the game regardless (myself included).

@madjoki Please take the time and read my first post! As you can see i did try refund and its not working as the purchase contains redeemable objects....

I'm expecting something along the lines of taking back that 4k platinium and giving people the amount you can buy for 9 Euro (with maybe some bonus).

Anyway, if they don't honor this deal hopefuly they'll get A LOT of bad PR - in situations like that customer is ALWAYS right and any screw should be covered by the other party. In that case I guess it's Steam.

I am sure they want to take away the plat or item, but money was exchanged legally. Even in the United States, consumer protection laws are fairly strong. I would be surprised if they manage to legally remove any items from those who purchased this.

Gestault

Even if they take the plat away, $9 for all the rest of it is still a hell of a deal.

With transactions like this, it's very much all-or-nothing with refunding the transaction. They don't have grounds to reduce what you recieved if they accept the purchase at all. I don't think it's at all unreasonable for them to (1) honor purchases outright, (2) refund the purchases, or (3) refund the purchases but offer a small "mea culpa" gesture to hopefully keep new people interested in the game and active users happy. The volume of currency might legitimately destablize their business model, so I understand if they're looking this over seriously.
