Stardew Valley for sure. Portable SDV is a fucking game changer. I'll probably pick up Axiom Verge too because I still haven't played it yet.

Metroid fans need to all play Axiom Verge... amazing game.

The soundtrack alone is stuff of legend.

Oxenfree is like $4 on iOS, so no Switch version for me.

Axiom Verge doesn't appeal to me for some reason, which is weird because I love Metroidvania.

Stardew Valley is a day one purchase.

You will miss out... big time.

Genuinely asking: with Hollow Knight on the horizon, have you had a chance to play both, and would you say which one is better?

Not to make you feel bad OP, but I really wish that when people created threads about specific games, they would put some effort to tell what the games are about. Not nearly everyone knows these games you know.

Like, maybe link an image of each game. Already makes the OP a hundred times more interesting and then everyone gets at least some kind of mental image of how the game looks.

A brief video is great too.

So here's a some videos and images:

On topic, will get Axiom Verge when it comes and very likely Volgarr at some point. Hadn't heard of Oxenfree before but that looks really interesting so will very likely get it at some point too.

Not to make you feel bad, but Stardew Valley is looking an awful lot like Volgarr the Viking there :p

Not actually that important
Hey op, that’s not how you do OPs, op :p
Like, at least some freakin’ screens?

Anyway.
None for now, since Thimbleweed Park and Golf Story take precedence over these and I still have to buy them. My Switch backlog is kinda big already.

I 100% recommend Golf Story and SteamWorld Dig 2 together. Playing an hour of each back-to-back each night has been wonderful.

Does Stardew Valley have the co-op at launch?

Also, not really sure what Oxenfree is. Could someone give me an elevator pitch for it?

This.

Huh.. This looks damn great.

Also, anyone knows if Oxenfree has any new features for the Switch? I already played that game before, but I wouldn't mind going though it a second time if there's something new.

2D ligihtly point and click-ish thing where some teens go to hold a party on an island by themselves. Then shit gets weird/scary in a way that's pretty interesting. The dialogue system is really great with how it handles interruptions and talking while moving around.

Also interesting use of
what friends who have played the game already did
.

Is Oxenfree linear or does it have branching paths or multiple endings?

You know the lineup is awesome when they are all singleplayer games on the coop anywhere system and LOVERS IN A DANGEROUS SPACETIME is releasing this week

VOLGAR THE FUCKING VIKING! Best platforming game in years!

p2KZjlA.gif
HOLY FUCK, is that a motherfucking viking in a goddamn power stance perched on a goddamn arrow stuck in a motherfucking skeleton walking through some goddamn spiders and spikes?!

Not normally a Animal Crossing fan, but it's cheap enough for me to try Stardew.

Just finished Steamworld Dig 2 (amazing) and have Golf Story to start tonight.

Tried to play Axiom Verge on PS4 and never got into it. Great soundtrack though.

Volgar looks too hard (from watching Brad at GB play it)

Tempted by Oxenfree too.

I.Already,Have.Too.Many.Games.

I even own some of these on other platforms thanks to humble bundle / incredible sales and I haven't played them but a little bit.

I mean being able to play them in bed or on the toilet or sitting outside on the patio while
a fire rages in the chimnea is appealing. I am just not sure I have the funds to scrounge up enough eshop $$ to buy them all.

I want to finish Golf story first. Then I would like to finish several other games.

Also you know while we get excited about stuff coming, some games like Neuro voider have been criminally avoided, yeah yeah, on the eshop.

Oh and ninty gamers should be in for a treat if they played Shinobi 3D on the 3DS, Volgarr was made by some of the top talent who worked on that game. If you haven't played Shinobi 3D, go play that too!

Oh shit, I think you just sold me on it. Shinobi 3D is a brilliant game. :D

Do you know how long Pankapu is? I haven't decided if I should get it or not.

Volgarr is a great game, but it's quite hard and oftentimes just very frustrating.

You can play Stardew Valley until your fingers fall off and still murmur to yourself 'just one more day'.

Volgarr the Viking, it came out on PC and XB1 years ago, PS4 somewhat recently and is hitting Switch (and Wii U) this week.

It's insane how many games release on PSN... stuff like this gets swept under the rug week after week. Happy to hear it is such a praised game!

This is not a power stance because it implies the other stances are not power

Oxenfree this week, Stardew Valley and Tiny Barbarian DX next week. Then while I'll wait for my Multiverse Edition of Axiom Verge on Switch, I'll play Super Mario Odyssey (and Destiny 2 on PC the 24 Oct).

What a great month for gaming !

That situation will happen more and more now IMO. There are so many good games arriving each week, and the hype unfortunately only is about 1-3 game per week.

I wasn't a fan of indies but there are a lot of great hits now.
I don't have all this money that I must wait for 50% bargains :/ in order to play them

Oxenfree is fantastic. If you like story-based games or "walking simulators" then pick it up.
The conversation design is brilliant.

These games are coming faster than I can play them. When's Hollow Knight again?

Definitely getting Stardew Valley, which I've been anticipating for months now (although I will probably continue to focus on Golf Story and SteamWorld Dig 2 first). SWD2 and Samus Returns are scratching my Metroidvania itch, so I think I'll skip Axiom Verge for the time being. I'd buy Hollow Knight in a heartbeat, though.

As for Oxenfree — I don't know anything about it. What is this game?

Narrative driven exploration-horror game taking place on a small island with a focus on naturalistic conversations between characters. Light puzzle solving elements, great atmosphere, fantastic soundtrack by scntfc. Easily my favorite game of last year. It was like a really excellent YA novel, really captured the feel of being a teenager about to move into the into the next phase of life.

Already played Oxenfree and Axiom Verge. Both are great but AV is not be missed by any metroidvania fan. Stardew Valley doesn't seem like a game for me, has never been on my radar.

Volgarr... I love a challenge and high difficulty, but this is something else. It took me an hour to finish the first stage and never finished the second one (the water themed level). It's hard as nails.

Yep its a good problem to have but right about now would be a great time for an updated eshop that does a better job of surfacing games.

I know there a lot of different avenues for game information out there but it really feels like too much stuff is missed due to the monetary nature of current online gaming media. In other words it sucks game sites can't make enough to pay more folks to do more deep dives in to all of these awesome games.

Stardew, even though I don't even plan on playing it for a while. Slightly hesitant only because I want to be sure performance is tip-top first.
