First draft at Super Mario RPG PAL design

qITVsnt.png

Though, if one is picky, I believe by the time this game came out, all European games started adopted the German design (which is turn is based on the American design).

Also, I've noticed that most of the results for the Super Nintendo logo that google finds are wrong. The red strip with Entertainment System on it should have the same width at the Super Nintendo text, with the right hand edge lining up with the top of the O. However most result have the right hand edge lining up with the bottom of the O.

not only that, but the four beans have a wrong color tone as well:

snestop3suw4.png

this is the graphic from my short lived replacement OT. the top SNES logo is had the wrong colors initially (also has the wrong bottom bar as you pointed out), I adjusted it by hand to be more like the SFC logo colors below. but they all had the same, light blue shade.

this is the wrong one (green and blue are off):

So what games are impossible to add via hacks? I assume stuff like Megaman X2 and X3 but I don't actually know.

Can I hack in a translated version of Live a Live?

Actually, for some reason they ported working cx4 emulation from the Wii U VC, meaning X2 and X3 work fully. DSP1, SA-1, and Cx4 are all emulated. I don't believe any other special chips.

Couple comments / questions:

1) Hakchi seems to break "classic demo" mode, that is, the idle mode that has Mario showcasing games (not to be confused with the "user demos" that play your savestates, those do work).
2) jayr281, I'm assuming you got SFA2 and Phantasia to work via Retroarch and not the native emulator?
3) When using Retroarch on the Mini SNES, does it support the savestate / rewind exactly like the normal ROMs?

Thread search had failed to turn anything up, hence my asking.

here ya go:

Are you sure save states still work?

100%, but you get less saves as you add more games to it.

Code:
4 slots per game: 32
3 slots per game: 39
2 slots per game: 48
1 slot per game: 65

Once you go over 65, you then have less than 1 slot per game, meaning some games will stop saving. Around 90 and you get ZERO slots per game.

What's everyone replacing their menu music with? I've been looking through some videogame fan arrangements but nothing seems to fit the menu.

I was lucky enough to get a US and a European version.

I think I will keep my US Classic pure. Clean. Factory.

My Euro Classic will be loaded up with dem phat modz! TERRINIGMA, ALADDIN, UNIRACERS, HYPERZONE, FLITSTONES, NFL MADDEN '94, WHEEL OF FORTUNE!!!

YYYAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOO!!!!

RC5 allows using Retroarch on the SNES Classic, which has emulator cores for a lot of systems.

Are there new modules that need to be installed for retroarch or do you just use the same ones that were created for the nes classic and the old hakchi?

I'm having two "issues", though really they can be expected from experimenting with beta software.

1. Removing the thumbnails from the UI makes it extremely sluggish to load. It takes several seconds, while it was almost instant before.

2. RC5 doesn't seem to apply the option to not use folders. I still have the original games on root and a folder.
Edit: It seems you need to reflash your games to change the folder structure! Got it working now!

I'm just tinkering with this, really. Has anyone else encountered these issues?

Go for the late NCL design, it’s the best PAL look, big art and colour borders!

Why would you want to do this? The SNES classic theme is fantastic.

I wish there was a way to have the NESc and Snesc music rotate, Suppose I could splice them together.

I managed to get myself into a sort-of-bricked state trying to overmount a file. I had no problems whatsoever going back to the original kernel. It's nice how fool-proof it is.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
I started super Metroid today and I'm already stuck. In brinstar and I can't seem to progress forward or go back the way I came as one of those gates came down. I have bombs, missiles, super missiles and charge shot but nothing seems to break the wall preventing me from advancing.

Man I actually used to be good at video games.

On RC5, when flashing the custom kernel after it says it patches it and goes to upload it stops with the error "Can't write to USB". Any ideas/suggestions? (Running Windows 10 Pro if that helps)

you're using Australian boxes, the notoriously "inbetween" territory in terms of box design and naming.

please don't insult our eyes with their godawful Terrangima box :D
proper UK version:

It was used for SCN and some other territories too. Australian boxes have the G in the corner, so two of those are legit Euro boxes!

Black borders was NOE, colour borders were NCL, hence closer to the true intent of the creators!

I have rc3 from yesterday. If I want to go rc5 and try like retroarch is that difficult?

I've literally got no experience with retroarch for what it's worth.

Sorry guys, but all the PAL box art is awful :( bizarre mishmash of US SNES design cues with some weird color bars inconsistently tried all over the place.

What FFVI romhacks are you fine folk using? I'm looking for something that doesn't change the core mechanics of the game, but improves the translation and fixes bugs.

My collection is complete for now. At least there's only 1 model of the N64 if they decide to do that.
You're a man (or woman) after my own heart ❤️

I have US NES and SNES, with Famicom and now Super Famicom on the way.

Don't necessarily feel the need to get the PAL consoles.... If it were my home region I sure would, but otherwise it's the same as the US NES + SFC.

And yes thank god for the mercy of the N64 being the same worldwide. I probably won't import that.

Been working on a few icons to replace the box art for the games. Gives it a bit more of a "Switch" menu vibe, if that makes sense. Dimensions match identically to the space given for artwork on the SNESC menu without any bleed (which can occur at certain dimensions). Used a mixture of official art, box art, art from various regions, etc. Screenshot for example:

When I finish up, I'll definitely throw an album up on Imgur or something for everyone to download. Kind of waiting on a few certain games to work/run properly before I finalize everything (plus some contrast/color balancing for aesthetic).

Stand Guard.

I've tried many FFVI retranslation projects, and I find Stand Guard to be the best for both keeping to the original spirit of FF6's localization while fixing all of the major bugs.

Man I still hate the fact that the AIs in Mario Kart are playing on a completely different set of rules than you are... one that makes everything crooked specifically to make your life harder.

- AIs don’t pick up items on the track like you do.
- Each character has one set item, and it has infinite uses, whenever they fucking feel like!!
- Only the AIs directly in front of or behind you use their items. The others just race along.
- AIs can magically jump over any obstacle on the track at will.
- AIs try to keep a set racing order throughout the whole cup so that it’s harder for you to be first on the podium.

What fucking bullshit...I hate when games pull this kind of crap!

Using the one at the top of this cool list some cool guy made. :)
Does exactly what you wanted and nothing more, just as I wanted too.

That's the one I was eyeing. I got it from your thread ;) But I wanted to see if someone was using something else.

I think I'm going to go with the Woolsey Uncensored hack. It does exactly what I need it to do :)

Same problem for me. Just doesn't want to seem to verify the snes.

Correct. Working with retroarch. Does not use rewind or savestate like stock
