PAL Charts - Week 40, 2017

Great news. That's what you get for trying to fuck over your fans with all the bs decisions they made and using the Microsoft Store.

This whole page is filled with crazy low figures for GT Sport debut. Why? The number for GT6 that launched on PS3 after PS4 released is seriously clouding your judgments.

The climate is very, very different now, though. Racing games as a genre (regardless of brand) haven't been setting the charts alight in general, there is intense competition, digital sales are on the rise, confusion over the content, etc.

I think Gran Turismo Sport should perform about on par with Gran Turismo 6 at launch in the UK IMO.

If you put back my reply to DriftingSpirit from your quote of my post it works as an answer to your post too ;)

FIFA 18 Switch is charting behind the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions around the world. Maybe they should work on getting the Frostbite versions on the PS3?
PS3 and 360 are already Legacied. Switch is a growth platform, it makes sense to invest in it even if packaged retail performance wasn’t amazing this time out.

Kinda crazy the Switch version did more in Japan 1st week than the UK though.

Gran Turismo - 44,000
Gran Turismo 2 - 115,000
Gran Turismo 3 - 74,000 (it should be 69,000, I wrongly assumed that GfK covered the 80% of the console market, but it was 75%)
Gran Turismo 4 - 253,000
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue - 108,000
Gran Turismo 5 - 269,000
Gran Turismo 6 - 55,000

Just a small correction. I checked ELSPA Sales Awards and Gran Turismo 2 needed 2 weeks to reach 100,000 units, which means that the 115,000 figure was extrapolated to 100% of the market.

Here all sales extrapolated to 100% of the market.

Gran Turismo - 44,000 or 57,000 (I don't know if the reported 44,000 figure was extrapolated)
Gran Turismo 2 - 115,000
Gran Turismo 3 - 92,000
Gran Turismo 4 - 281,000
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue - 120,000
Gran Turismo 5 - 299,000
Gran Turismo 6 - 61,000

Was kinda wondering why things would be now different with the argument ''FIFA on the go is going to be massive!''. Didn't happen with PSP or Vita (and PSP was actually also successful platform) so didn't see why things would be different now. If I remember right both PSP and Vita got also decently made versions at the start so that wasn't problem either.

The killer difference is that you can actually play local multiplayer with one Switch. Is it that hard to grasp this concept lol.

I've been saying people need to wait on declaring all these AAA ports successful without them being successful. I'll wait for the US performance before making a final judgement though.

Seems customers didn't grasp that concept either seeing the sales of Switch version.

Yeah. I am not saying that multiplatform AAA games can't sell well on Switch but was kinda puzzled how sure people were about FIFA being massive success because of portability despite the history of FIFA on the go.

Fifa 18 Switch is charting everywhere around the world and among the most popular titles in eshop. Unless EA is retarded or holding an agenda against Nintendo, they'll not only keep Fifa (with Frostbite engine) as improve support for Switch.
Fifa 18 is actually is in the top 5 around the world in the Eshop at full price, i am pretty sure is selling above EA expectation.

I wouldn't be that sure, specially the active user base

Spain was where Nintendo predicted 1 million switches by the end 2017 right?

Let's say it hits that, anyone know the ballpark for Xbox? Switch can't be passing it this year I would assume

I'm only saying that the Xbox is really dead in Spain. Switch games are selling more than xbox games all the time

Pretty sure they're not forum idiots and they realize a 6 month old machine with a small install base wasn't going to compare, so yes.
It's doing okay digitally, at least.

And you say that without knowing any numbers, ignoring that sales on the Nintendo eShop have been relatively low compared to retail sales, and while also ignoring that retail versions are cheaper.

But I predicted this already. Now that it's clear that stock at retailers isn't the issue for the sales performance, the game must have done well digitally 🙄

This is a shame. :(
Hopefully NBA 2k18 did well.

Do you realize that you are using the sentence "they beat stardew valley for 2 or 3 days in France" to say FIFA, one of the best selling game in the world, is doing ok? Maybe it's doing ok, we don't know. But your argument makes no sense

I don't give a fuck if fifa bombs and that'd probably actually make for some fun times to me so spare me the dumb narrative thanks.
Regardless, so far we have retail numbers for uk only, it's still the 5th most selling game at retail in France this week which is a big Fifa market, it's been on the top 5 of almost every eshop across the world (even NA) so yeah it's doing okay for a Fifa game on a 6 month old nintendo platform.

Of course the ps4 version wil outsell it by millions of units.

Stardew valley was more wanted and awaited on switch than Fifa (yes) and entered directly at the #1 spot everywhere, immediately outselling two weeks worth of games in an hour or so. So yeah, even without numbers, Fifa beating it is still something of note.

Switch has a 6 months old userbase. It is a successful product, but its userbase is nowhere near the Xbox one, even in Spain.

And the PS3 and 360 userbase is much higher than the PS4 and Xbox One. May be time to focus more effort on those versions.

Do multiplats though? Well, lego might.

Xbox probably isn't active right now. But on the flip side Xbox's active userbase probably consists mostly of FIFA plays currently.

I didn't expect Switch to outsell Xbox FIFA anywhere. Especially not year one. There's a range between below and Xbox and doing poorly is the issue.
