Zombie crates
Nazi Zombies will feature consumables that can be bought by the player as well as earned, and delivered via loot crates, known as Zombie Crates. Loot crates come in either Common (1x use per match), Rare (2x use per match), Legendary (3x use per match) or Epic (4x use per match) form. There are five different types of consumables: discounts, weapon guarantees, keys, power-ups, special weapons and weapons.

Coupons give the player discounts on the above Perks, whereas Keys give discounts on gate, Jolt and Mystery Box purchases. Power-ups come in the following forms:

Spawn an Elektromagnet power-up to earn twice as many points for a short time
Spawn a Full Meter power-up to overcharge each player’s Special Ability meter
Spawn a Reaper Strike power-up to instantly kill enemies with one hit for a short time
Spawn a Max Ammo power-up to replenishes ammo and equipment for all players
Spawn an Eclipse power-up to instantly kill all weaker enemies
Weapons are simple enough, handing the player a powerful weapon for a limited time, as seen in the following short descriptions:

Equip a Flamethrower for a short time
Equip a Panzerschreck for a short time
Equip an M1 Bazooka for a short time
Weapons Guarantee gives the player a particular type of weapon:

Bren Guarantee
Karabin Guarantee
Lewis Guarantee
MG15 Guarantee
MG42 Guarantee
Springfield Guarantee
Walther Toggle Action Guarantee
And finally, here are the Power-ups from the loot crates:

Elektromagnet (Double Points)
Reaper Strike (Insta-kill)
Max Ammo
Security (Turns on all the traps)
Eclipse (Nuke)
Full Meter (Fills your special ability meter)
Fire Sale

Considering the previous game had zombies crates, this isn't surprising at all...

Call of duty has had this stuff for a while now

Huh. Didn't know the zombie mode had crates in previous games.

I only remembered seeing stuff where weapons in the normal MP were purchasable through MT's.

Thought this was a new occurrence, so if a mod feels like it lock the thread up.

That makes a lot of sense, I haven't played a CoD with loot crates as far as I remember but I figure the leaderboards are just people with lots of money buying massive amounts of power ups? That's hilarious.

Who would have known people would be so terrible at video games while also dropping mega money on them to be perceived as good?

While I don't have any kind of blanket "Loot boxes?? No buy ever!!" policy (it's a bit daft), it does make me a lot less likely to buy a game, including Call of Duty.

I find that method of unlocking things irritating and I refuse to pay real money for video game lotteries.

Lootboxes in CoD? What an unexpected twist!

ALso isn't Zombies a PVE mode? If people want to spend money on that. Be my guest lol.

This is nothing new.

Loot boxes in an Activision game? WHAT

Don’t all rush to brush this off as nothing at once!

As far as I know, this is different than previous “zombie crates” in IW, which gave permanent skins and weapon variants.

WWII is putting in another layer of shit by adding consumables.

I think more the implication is that they don't give a shit regardless, probably people with money who benefit primarily from these systems because they don't have the time or skill but want all the benefits of being a skilled player with lots of time in game. It's weird to watch skill in gaming become purchasable.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
I'm so sick and tired of hearing about loot boxes.

Horrible business practice.

I'm not brushing anything off as nothing, I'm saying of course Activision is in on this disgusting (in AAA games) fad.

Lmao no one here is shilling (yes, I saw your edit).

We’re pointing out that this isn’t particularly surprising since it’s been a thing in CoD for awhile now and Activision has banged the drum of success on digital revenue. It’s like, of course they are going to do this with CoD moving forward. And yes, consumables in Zombies loot crates were a thing in the previous game as well.

this is completely different though, it was just skins.

No it wasn’t just skins. It included consumables and power-ups as well.

You’re just overreacting. This is surely where they will draw the line this time. It’s just cosmetic...err I mean perm abilit...um I mean consumables. If it’s one thing the game industry is best at its self restraint.

Really hate this particular monetization method.
Unless your game is F2P, I shouldn't be seeing this shit.

Umm....

BO3's Gobblegums and IW's Fate and Fortune Cards?

They've had consumables for both games.

In BO3's case they were OP, in IW's case they were useful but nothing you needed to seek out to get to high rounds.

No, previous ones also had certain Gobblegums and cards you can roll for that were consumables.

I’m sorry, should I be ashamed that I edited the post to be more accurate after re-reading what I was replying to?

Yes, I changed from shilling to dismissing to avoid miscontruing the one-liners. If only more people did that.

Looks like previous games did have fortune cards and other consumables, though. But this is a new level: There seem to be a TON of consumable types.

This goes back to the "wrong feedback" thread: the only one the publishers care about is the one from your wallet. If people continue to buy into this, they will keep pushing the boundaries. At least it did not yet spread to Nintendo and we will always have indies for people who want to avoid it. I'm also considering buying Wolfenstein on release since it also is loot box-free.
