It was revealed in the manga that he is the one
to beat Beerus in an armwrestling match that was refered in Super Episode 93, so he is a strong god, so it was speculated that the mortal stronger that a god of destruction maybe from his universe, but after the special i believe that was debunked.

Toriyama has been drawing Super Saiyan with that spike for years, sometimes it shows up in the show on Super Saiyan, sometimes it doesn't, same with Blue.

Where? SSB didnt even have it originally. Then it was added in Super. And generally when Goku goes Super Saiyan its been back to normal. I put its inconsistent appearances down to changing minds on the form used or animation errors.

SS Goku and SSB Goku in Dragon Ball FighterZ have the different spike too, they modeled the hair slightly differently.

quintella does have the 'mortal stronger than a god' on his team like the manga implies. That would explain him being mostly unconcerned about jiren.

I don't think the "new warrior" Universal Tournament Climax figure and "Dreadful! Surprising Appearance of a New Super Warrior!" episode title are referencing a new form for one of the current fighters.

Rewatched the episodes tonight. I really love how Jiren's aura becomes his blast. That's some real control over his ki right there.
The episodes were just fucking top notch. little flourishes and attention to detail EVERYWHERE.

I love how Frieza gives Goku energy for the spirit bomb and then when Goku is about to come back he's like "I expect nothing less" like damn. Frieza is really one of the best characters.

No, the spike was there in Toriyama and Yamamuro's character designs.
I can't link to Yamamuro's because the only images I can find of it are from magazine scans.
The spike also showed up multiple times in the F film.
And here are some images to show that Toriyama has been drawing Goku with spikes like that one for years.
And no, the inconsistency is not because they change their mind on what form is being used or artist error, it's because Blue and SSJ use the same reference material.

He has the two characters Tien vaguely detected, and made Beerus nervous when he heard how many people U4 had left and didn't see them. That's his plan, hide out probably tiny characters and win by numbers.
He levels up a lot faster than a saiyan, I bet he's going to heal Goku next episode (just like Namek in reverse!), knowing he's the only one that can have a chance to take down Jiren. Then after that, his sights are set on training up to Ultra Instinct since it made the gods shit their pants, and he wants to be out from under their thumbs.

He only has 4 warriors right now though, including the two invisible fighters. He can't really win by numbers at this point.

EDIT: as if there was any doubt, an add for new Dragon Ball Heroes releases confirmed that the Universe Survival arc will still be airing in December.
