So here's what I'd want from a hypothetical next Danganronpa:
- New storyline (just don't be connected to Hope's Peak at all, PLEASE)
- Female main protagonist (half because I know I'd fall in love with her within a couple chapters let's be honest)
- Definitely mix up the structure of the murders.
- Change up the characterization, too many characters are one-note (V3 was especially bad).
- Just let us become the blackened and try to lie our way out/come clean, preferably in chapter 5.
- An ending twist that isn't the disillusioning kind of bullshit but the fun, entertaining kind of bullshit (V3 pulled this off)
I actually agree with most, if not all of that.
Again, I really do want to see more games in the DR series. I'm selfishly not ready to say goodbye yet
. And I can totally see why DR V3's ending was polarizing. But what made me happy was that it wasn't a letdown for me (like Zero Time Dilemma sort of was for the Zero Escape Series =/ ).
But I do agree that the whole Hope's Peak/Junko/FF stuff has kind of been beaten into the ground, so I would love to see them do something new with the next game.
It's funny you mention the structure of the killings. I totally didn't even clue in that they followed the same structure throughout the series (double murders in case 3 every time, case 4 the victim wanting to die etc). It actually does frustrate me a bit to clue into that LOL. I would definitely love to see a different structure.
I really do want a female protagonist *for real* for the next potential game. I know it seems trite, but I was really looking forward to having one, and she was taken away from us at the very beginning of the game LOL. And I did really like Kaede (her character's personality/design etc was awesome). So I'm hoping for another shot at a female protagonist.
